FlowVPN Review & Test 2024: Keep in Mind Before Buying

Our Score: 7.9/10
Ranked 61st out of 300 VPNs
Guy Fawkes Updated on 23rd November 2023 Anonymous Cybersecurity Experts

Based in the UK, Flow VPN has more than 100 servers located in more than 40 countries around the world including the United States and many areas in Asia and Europe. Currently, they have servers in places such as Italy, Albania, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Turkey, the UK, Australia, China, Brazil, and Costa Rica. They are committed to bringing on even more servers as the company grows and they need to expand.

Consequently, there are times when you can tap into specific Netflix regions using select Flow VPN servers. However, even with its multiple locations, Flow VPN's network is still fairly small. For those aiming to reliably bypass Netflix restrictions, opting for a VPN with a much more expansive network is recommended.

Flow VPN is usable on a number of different computers and devices. They are able to support Windows 7, 8, and 10, as well as Mac OSX, Android devices, and iOS devices. They have instructions for getting setup on each of the different platforms. Overall, the setup process if very easy. Just download the configuration files and run them. You will be able to use your subscription on up to four devices at the same time. You are able to switch between servers in different countries as often as you would like, and the setup for switching is very simple.

The company monitors their network usage so they can be sure they are providing enough servers to manage all of their customers. They work hard to provide quality support as well, and the support team is based in the UK. They are able to respond to all queries by the following business day, and they do not use automated responses.

One of the benefits of using Flow VPN is its route functionality, which enables you to transmit data through the nearest VPN server and subsequently route it through another server. This feature ensures a secure and fast user experience.

If you are interested in using Flow VPN, but you aren’t sure quite yet, you can take advantage of their free three-day trial. If you like the service, you can then choose one of their subscription plans. They have several options. You can choose a one-month plan. This might be a good solution for someone who is traveling, either for business or pleasure, and who will only be out of the country for a month or less. However, there are other plans for those who need the service longer or who want to always have the protection and anonymity that a VPN service can provide. You could choose a three-month plan or the 12-month plan.

There are a number of reasons that you might want to have a VPN. It’s important to choose a quality service that can actually provide you with anonymity, protection, and ease of use. And that's why we recommend checking out our most highly rated VPNs instead. While Flow VPN is a good option, it simply can't offer the service that premium vendors can yet. This is especially true when it comes to streaming sites like Netflix. You can find far better VPNs for streaming in our rundown of the best VPNs for Netflix.

Bad VPN

Even if you choose to get a refund on the same day, they'll put you off for seven days and tell you that you can't get a refund for more than seven days. It's pure fraud, and the service is not good enough to get a refund.

Scammed: auto renew even after turning if off via their APP

Had a 6 day trial and turned off auto renew on day 1 as connection is very unstable. Come day 6, I was charged for a full year and they say there is no refund. Very tricky and sneaky company! Spoke to PayPal but they say there’s no proof I turned it off via the APP. If you must trial this FlowVPN, make sure to cancel payments via PayPal ASAP. As for this VPN, you just have to keep changing countries and turn it off and on every so often as it is pretty unstable. Very unhappy that the APP states you can turn auto renew (as long as it’s more than 24 hours before end of trial) but the freaking button is useless. Total scam company! Be very careful. Even if you contact them on day 6 when they take your money, it’s too late, no refunds allowed.

Surprisingly good software proven in practice?

I really appreciate it to be able to be used in China... Many are not. Recently the network access restrictions( the notoriously high Great Firewall) was strengthened again, seems like, many VPNs are not able to connect, even the very high-ranking ones( for couple of days at least, can't tell exactly, may differ for users). This one works for all these days (when I started to use), though by IPsec( some times IKEv2). Connection is stable, speed may varies. Their protocol options are openVPN, IPsec, SSH. And mobile app is available. As far as I can see. Will keep it as another choice in case.
