HeadVPN Review & Test 2024 — Read This Before Buying

Our Score: 6.2/10
Ranked 192nd out of 305 VPNs
Ditsa Keren Updated on 19th January 2024 Technology Researcher

UK-based HeadVPN is a somewhat small provider that’s been around since 2014 and a very good choice for beginners and Android users. But then again, premium vendors like ExpressVPN or CyberGhost are easy to set up, and compatible with Android and many more platforms. Plus, they both have an extensive global network that's no match for HeadVPN.

HeadVPN respects your privacy and doesn’t log, although it’s located in the UK (a Five-Eyes member). In addition, it allows P2P and torrenting activities without any bandwidth restrictions.

HeadVPN also offers dedicated IPs, a free trial, 30-day money-back guarantee, and accepts Bitcoin. Endorsed with a high-level 256-bit and RSA 4096-bit encryption, HeadVPN may lack a kill switch, but it supports multiple protocols such as OpenVPN, SSTP, IKEv2, SoftEther+HTTP, HTTPS Proxy, L2TP, and PPTP.

Regrettably, a custom app exists solely for Android, yet HeadVPN can operate on a variety of platforms like Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android, Linux, Apple TV, Xbox, PlayStation, and Fire TV. Additionally, it allows for 5 concurrent connections, enabling use on multiple devices simultaneously.

On the negative side, HeadVPN has a tight server network limited to 12 servers in 4 countries: UK, USA, the Netherlands, and Germany. However, you can stream tons of channels and services including Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, Spotify, Pandora, HBO Go, and many more. As previously mentioned, HeadVPN is pretty basic in its essence, but it provides some interesting features at cheap prices, not to mention their friendly 24/7 live chat customer support.

The Bottom Line

Not a lot of servers, but still a lot of options

Although HeadVPN only has 12 servers in four countries, they offer a lot for a small VPN. With access to Netflix and other streaming websites, P2P and torrenting, a free trial, and a 30-day money-back guarantee, there's almost no reason not to try this VPN. While you need to configure it yourself on anything other than Android, HeadVPN still has a lot going for it. But, if you're looking for quick and easy setup, and want to enjoy all the features a VPN could possibly offer, we suggest you take a look at these global providers instead.

  • Access to Netflix, Hulu, and more

Very community service.

Normal standard VPN with convenient admin panel. Good info about settings. Real-Chat-support. No Socks5 proxy. Servers (it's IP) are constantly changing and often unavailable (fall 2018). The speed is highly dependent on the server location (country).

Avoid at all costs...don't honour refunds and very poor support.

A few weeks back, I signed-up to the 3 month service. Didn't really like the set-up so requested a refund a short time after signing-up (they state refunds granted etc if not happy with the service). The guy I spoke to on live support stated refund would be with me in 3 - 5 days. That was a few weeks ago now and still nothing received. It was a small amount so no biggie but contacting them very rarely gets a response so perhaps this demonstrates the type of provider they are. The owner has been trying to sell the business at various forums so make of that what you wish. As I said, just wanted to make people here aware that they cannot be trusted.

This is the best service ever at a very reasonable price

I especially enjoyed having US Netflix back into my life. Also, the speeds for p2p/torrent servers are quite decent, not many providers have the same luxury. Also, last but not the least, the Android app is a big plus.Thank you, guys !!!
