iNinja Review & Test 2024 - Keep This in Mind Before Buying

Our Score: 6.0/10
Ranked 205th out of 305 VPNs
Ditsa Keren Updated on 17th January 2024 Technology Researcher

A product of the UK based iNinja Ltd, iNinja is a fresh, free VPN extension for Chrome users that was launched in 2017. Even though iNinja offers a few attractive features that would appeal to any Chrome user such as free service, unlimited speed, servers in USA and UK, and WiFi protection, we don’t recommend it for a number of reasons, one of them being its inability to unblock Netflix.

Free or premium, a good VPN doesn’t keep logs. However, iNinja is hardly a ninja when it comes to protecting your online privacy. Unlike other no-logging, free VPNs such as TunnelBear or Proton VPN, iNinja VPN collects logs and personal data including connection logs, IP address, personal information, online activities, and cookies. Such information is enough for ISPs and hackers to trace your real location and monitor your internet activities.

Security and encryption aren’t impressive either. iNinja doesn’t offer any advanced or diverse security features like 256-bit encryption, OpenVPN, or DoubleVPN. It relies on 128-bit SSL encryption only, which isn’t enough to shield you online or overcome restrictions to give you access to popular services such as Netflix, Hulu, and BBC iPlayer. We tested it and we weren’t able to access any of them. If you want speedy, reliable streaming, try out one of these leading vendors that we've tested for streaming Netflix.

iNinja doesn’t come with a kill switch which can easily expose your internet connection during sudden dropouts.

While iNinja offers unlimited speed and server switching, it has a significantly small number of servers in only eight countries including USA, UK, Australia, Netherlands, and Russia. Shockingly, we couldn’t connect to any of the available servers.

Moreover, support is limited to email and it isn’t helpful. Although it’s stated on the website that the customer support team is available 24/7, it’s been over 48 hours and we didn’t receive any reply.

Installation & Apps

6.8

iNinja’s Chrome extension is very easy to install. First, you download and install the application from the Chrome store, and then you install the addon by clicking on “Add to Chrome". Now that it’s installed, just click on the app icon in the top of your browser and select the server location you want to connect to. That’s it. Nothing more to it. The interface itself is not more than a list of servers. It can’t get simpler than that.

Pricing

There isn’t much to say in this department as iNinja VPN is completely free to use. They don’t offer any premium subscriptions that you could pay for and get more features or stronger capabilities like other free VPNs such as Windscribe.

The Bottom Line

Don’t let the free sign fool you. If you’re looking for a VPN extension for Chrome without having to pay for it, avoid this VPN

iNinja is proof that free isn’t always good. It simply doesn’t work. We were excited to see a VPN that offers decent features for Chrome users, but what good is it if you can't use it?

Despite the presence of a peculiar website, a user-friendly Chrome extension, and a limited yet satisfactory range of features as advertised on their website, iNinja falls short as a below-average provider that fails to deliver on its promises.

Privacy is another major concern for iNinja. By keeping logs and using third-party cookies, iNinja puts your online privacy at risk. Moreover, it has a very small server network, and you can’t access heavily restricted sites like Netflix. In addition, encryption is limited to only one measly protocol and isn’t strong enough to secure your internet connection. Not to mention their unresponsive support team that isn’t available 24/7 as advertised on the website.

It's clear iNinja VPN is no match for global providers like ExpressVPN.

Excellent speed

This is the second year I use it. All VPN have problems with speed, it is solved by choosing the nearest country to you, ininja has a lot of them. I like everything and look forward to further updates and new products, thank you!

Saved me!!

Today ininja VPN helped me a lot, as usual reviews do not write but here is obliged. In general, I urgently needed access to a blocked site, and all free vpn ask me to verify my bank card and then deduct money from me, this is not an option for me. I was already desperate and then I came across a link to the ininja VPN mobile application, I decided to check it, and cheers everything works without a bank card. I also installed the plugin for chrome, the same everything works fine. Very fast vpn, thank you very much!

Like a vpn

In my subjective opinion, this VPN deserves only praise. Lots of high-speed servers to connect to. Pages open instantly. The video goes without breaks and freezes. Well, and most importantly, there is the ability to bypass all the ridiculous site blocking. In fact, this VPN has no drawbacks. At least during the time of use, I did not find them.
