Guy Fawkes Anonymous Cybersecurity Experts

Started in 2012, Viking VPN prides itself on defending internet security at all costs. Their focus is on both speed and security to develop a network that delivers both without compromise. ExpressVPN does this successfully, but can Viking VPN? Let's find out.

First of all, we are pleased to note that Viking VPN can unblock Netflix and most other streaming services.

There are no traffic or protocol restrictions, and they don't keep any logs; maximizing your privacy. They create a secure, encrypted tunnel between your device and their server with the VPN (Virtual Private Network). This tunnel is completely secure and protected by AES 256 CBC bit encryption. AS well as this service they also provide you with an anonymous, shared, IP address. Anyone attempting to detect your whereabouts will discover hundreds of users all over the world with the same IP address; successfully masking your location from geo-detection. Their aim is to build a strongly concentrated network rather than one scattered across the globe. They have server clusters in the USA and Europe; in five locations across the States and two more in Amsterdam and Bucharest. Their current system means you can connect as many devices as they have server clusters all at the same time with one user connection per cluster.

As with other VPN service providers, they offer price packages depending on whether you'd like to pay monthly, six-monthly or yearly, with the discounts improving steadily per package. They are more expensive than some of the other providers out there but they state the reasons for these prices are that they "maintain a very high quality, high speed, network that utilises load-balancing and Tier-1 network carriers to give us high availability for our users." Demonstrating their priorities for their users are speed and performance.

Being based in Kansas City in the US would normally raise concerns about security, but they have endeavoured to minimise these with some impressive security features such as RSA keys, 256 CBC bit encryption, and a 2048 bit HMAC firewall which concentrates on filtering out viruses and malwares. They monitor bandwidth use only—and then merely to work on optimising it for users. They have also shared that they are under a Warrant Canary; which means they have to sing like a bird to their users if they come under government scrutiny.

Their customer support is perhaps not as quick as other VPN providers out there: they have an email ticket system, but they do promise to get back to you within 24 hours. They also pride themselves on providing expert technical knowledge straight from their company founders.

To conclude, on the more expensive side and lacking in server numbers but they balance with their military-grade security, and Tier-1 data centres that can support robust speeds and stable connections for its users. But, if you're after better value for money and a VPN that can unblock Netflix, check out these highly-rated VPNs. They offer impressive global networks alongside all the very best security features.

Avoid At All Costs!

Worked great and customer service was great. Then Derek Zimmer left. Now, customer service is non-existent, and multiple requests to cancel my account have gone unanswered. Please avoid this company for your own good.

Non-existent customer service

The password credentials given never worked and they NEVER responded to my email asking for help. And the best part was that they still kept charging my CC. I'm left with cancelling my CC just to change the number they have on file.

Unstable service and non-existent support

October 19 to 21 not able to log into any endpoint for 3 days due to both primary and secondary name servers being unreachable, DNS can't resolve any endpoint cluster domain name, support completely non-responsive. This is supposed to be a premium VPN provider? Will most likely have to get my financial institution to block charges from Viking since there is no option to close my own account.
