VPN Land review & test 2024 - Keep in Mind Before Buying

Our Score: 7.1/10
Ranked 107th out of 305 VPNs
Guy Fawkes Published on 7th February 2024 Anonymous Cybersecurity Experts

A Canadian based company, VPN Land have been operating from their home country for the last ten years. Established in Toronto, Canada in 2006 as part of Blacklogic Inc. they've built up an impressive number of servers (400) in various locations around the world. When I searched its site for information on unblocking popular streaming services like Netflix, it just sent me to another VPN to download. A bit sketchy.

VPN Land provides unrestricted services and unlimited bandwidth through servers located in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Russia, and the Czech Republic. Except in the case of America, users can also easily stream torrents. The service is compatible with a wide range of devices that connect to the Internet, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, and DD-WRT. To complete the connection process, users simply need to follow the device-specific setup guides, which include images, available on the website.

Their price packages are slightly more extensive than other VPN providers, in that as well as the usual monthly and yearly package, they also offer a Lifetime and Poker subscriptions. And for a one-off payment, their users can even consider purchasing VPN services for life. An usual lifetime expense to consider but available nonetheless. For the poker players out there, VPN Land provide a tailor-made Poker VPN account. This gives you a residential Toronto IP address- and it is always the same. Coupons are regularly offered on the website if you time it right with buying your subscription though. Worth waiting for if you're intent on signing up.

There is no free trial available, and refunds are only granted if the service doesn't work. And "Valid proof (such as a screenshot with an error number and description) must be provided," to establish that.

VPN Land offers customer support through e-mail, support tickets, and telephone. Users can contact them by e-mail and via the support tickets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but telephone support is only available from 9 am EST until 5 pm EST. They do have an extensive Wiki data base though so it's worth checking that out if you encounter any problems with their service. Chances are you can troubleshoot any issues you have from there.

The Bottom Line

VPN Land is a run of the mill VPN service.

For security, they provide L2TP, PPTP, SSTP, and OpenVPN encryption, but as a VPN service, they aren't doing anything very different from other providers out there for the prices being asked. There is no extra oomph in either speed or privacy protection to really warrant the cost. A fairly middle of the road VPN provider but their yearly price plan is a good bargain.

Unprofessional support

Subpar service complimented with rude support, pay your money, and get rude support and service. The problem is not canceling the lifetime access to the VPN the problem was actually replying to that and saying it is my fault that I decided to buy from them :) and sadly they were right.

Never put your privacy and security in hands of thieves

This company shown they are shady and bunch of thieves by selling lifetime plans and cancelling them after a year, are you really want to put your safety at hands of such people? I would never trust them!

No customer service

Previously highly responsive, I have been unable to get a reply this year and have been unable to access the UK servers for several weeks, Are they even still in business? I got a single response to 5 support tickets during the past several weeks, and that was simply “try again now”. Which I did, to no effect. Will cancel and use Vypyr, which I have found to be much more reliable.
