PureVPN and Mullvad VPN are great options to keep you safe online —they don't keep any logs and use high-grade encryption. They also provide the WireGuard protocol, which allows you to prioritize security with speed. For additional privacy and convenience, both VPNs support paying via Bitcoin and offer money-back guarantees.

However, there are some big differences between the two VPNs. PureVPN stands out with a network of 6,500 servers and is more efficient in getting past various blocks and firewalls. Additionally, users who don't have tech expertise will find PureVPN's feature for the automatic selection of protocols quite useful.

Mullvad is not the best option for streaming. You'll also find that Mullvad doesn't offer the same features across all operating systems, which can be rather inconvenient. Find out all the details by reading our complete comparison.

PureVPN is a highly-rated and affordable VPN, but its had its share of controversies. A past incident involving the FBI caused significant damage to its reputation. So, has it done enough to improve its policies since then? To find out, I did a deep dive into its privacy policy and everything else it offers. I also tested its speeds, thoroughly explored its server network, examined its security ...

An excellent value, all things considered

While they will absolutely throttle p2p in most servers, it's easy to find and log into the p2p server... s. They responded promptly when I had questions (although once it was basically to say "sorry, tough luck"). Overall though, I think I paid something like $20 for a year's subscription - I really can't complain. I'm sold on the service, although I think the fact that it's based out of HK is a bit spooky. 9/10More

Not Private! They cooperate with FBI! Application will NOT CLOSE (only minimizes)

PureVPN COOPERATES WITH FBI INVESTIGATIONS! You can verify this with any search! PureVPN REQUIRES ... USERS TO PROVIDE REAL NAME TO USE THE SERVICE! VPN Does NOT Support Close Application, Against Windows Standards! Close Actually Minimizes and it Keeps Running. Company refuses to change this back (used to operate correctly) A clear violation of your rights as owner of your PC.More

Mullvad is considered one of the most privacy-friendly VPNs and is especially popular for torrenting. However, after a recent controversy, it dropped its port forwarding feature. It’s also not as cheap as many think, so is Mullvad still worth it? Despite a few flaws, I am confident I can recommend Mullvad VPN. Its privacy features are some of the best, and its security isn’t far behind. Pl...

    Happy with it

Contrary to what this article states, some servers do work with Amazon Video, you might have to cycle ... through a few to find one but there are ones that work. Secondly, I've had more success with Mullvad in China using the WG servers than other VPNs. I currently have this setup running on a GL-inet router and it's working great.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

PureVPN offers a better service overall. It has more servers, covers more countries, and has better speeds than Mullvad. While PureVPN allows 10 simultaneous device connections, Mullvad permits only 5 under one account. PureVPN can also be installed on Android TV, Firestick, and Kodi. On the other hand, Mullvad is only supported on the most popular platforms like Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Mullvad beats PureVPN when it comes to torrenting. P2P sharing is allowed on all Mullvad’s servers; it has port forwarding and SOCKS5 proxy for better speeds and a safe privacy policy. PureVPN only allows P2P on selected servers; port forwarding isn’t included in its standard subscription.

    Best VPN for Windows

Both VPNs are a solid choice for Windows, but PureVPN is slightly better. This is because it’s more straightforward and user-friendly. Mullvad also has a decent Windows app but makes you leave the app and go to its website to change some of the settings.

    Best VPN for Android

PureVPN has an excellent Android app with useful settings, such as the option to personalize its server list. Mullvad isn’t far behind with its easy-to-use Android client. However, Mullvad doesn’t offer OpenVPN protocol for Android or its ad, malware, and tracker blocker.

    Best VPN for Mac

Both VPNs have simple Mac apps that are similar to their Windows counterparts. However, both lack many features available on Windows. PureVPN is a bit better, as it still includes all the essential security settings like the kill switch and protocol selection.

    Best VPN for iOS

Since Mullvad doesn’t offer the OpenVPN protocol and split tunneling for iOS, PureVPN is a better choice. PureVPN is also a more secure option for iOS. It has both the OpenVPN and Wireguard protocols, split tunneling, and the Reconnect on Disconnect option.

    Best VPN for USA

PureVPN has more US servers than Mullvad across its entire network. Plus, they’re mostly physically located there, meaning they’re fast and reliable. Additionally, PureVPN has 20Gbps servers in Washington, DC, so you can get even better speeds.

    The Bottom Line

PureVPN is the clear frontrunner in this tossup with Mullvad VPN. With just one pricing option, Mullvad VPN emerges weak on this score too, while PureVPN comes with a number of options. PureVPN’s core strength is in its reliability & support, where it comes out with flying colors. Working on servers located in all continents. PureVPN is among the high fliers in the VPN segment, while Mullvad has begun working its way into the big league.
