MyVPN.pro markets their service to people concerned about privacy on the internet and those looking for a way to do safe BitTorrent downloading. They offer two different types of VPN connections with the first being PPTP, which is secured with the MPPE 128 bit algorithm. The second is an L2TP over IPSec connection which uses 3DES 168 bit encryption on Windows XP and Vista and 128/256 bit AES encryption on Windows 7. MyVPN.pro allows you to use the service on as many devices as you want, but only from a single connection. If you want to use your mobile device while on the road, you will have to disconnect your desktop connection first.
Their service lets you visit blocked websites and use Skype in countries that block these two internet experiences. The connection is secure and anonymous, so it can be used at your home, school, office, or in an unsecured café. If you were located in China or the United Arab Emirates, you could unlock webpages and Skype that have been blocked. If you’re using their VPN service, all your information will be blocked from your ISP; therefore, they cannot track and store your information.
MyVPN.pro supports BitTorrent by providing you with two port numbers that are forwarded to your computer through the VPN tunnel. Normally, most private trackers require that you both download and upload something in return to keep your share ratio at a balanced rate. With the VPN tunnel, other peers on the network to connect to your client and download any files you have shared. If you don’t upload enough files, you might be banned from the tracker. Using the VPN tunnel allows you to keep your share ratio at an acceptable level. There is one restriction to this service, and that is you must be using the PPTP protocol for port forwarding to work.
As a small VPN provider, MyVPN.pro does not offer any client software, but they do provide instructions on their website to help you set up your connection. Instructions are available for the Windows XP, Vista, and 7 operating systems for both the PPTP and L2TP over IPSec protocols. Mac users are provided a link to an article that details setting up VPN connections for those protocols as well.
Payment options are limited to credit cards and PayPal only, and they have 3 plans to choose from: a 3-day plan, a 15-day plan, and a 30-day plan. There are no bandwidth limits, and all of the features are available on all of the plans they offer.
