2018 Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference (GISEC)

Ditsa Keren Technology Researcher

Gulf Information Security Expo & Conference (GISEC) was launched in 2013 with the aim to bring the region’s leading cybersecurity and information security pioneers together in one place, to share their knowledge and expertise on best practices to tackle increasing cyber threats and IT security vulnerabilities amid the rapid rise in connectivity and digital transformation across industries and society. In this blog post, spokesperson Michael Champion, the Show Director, gives a sneak preview to what GISEC is all about.

Since its inception, GISEC, organised by Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), has evolved and firmly established itself as the region’s only true information security conference and exhibition. The sixth edition of GISEC, which runs from 1-3 May at DWTC, will bring together cybersecurity experts from regional and global governments, national agencies and corporations under one-roof to discus, debate and share insights on the latest cyber threats and how to tackle them.

What are the key objectives and mission of GISEC?

  • To highlight the importance of knowledge sharing amidst the increasingly growing prevalence of cyber threats and attacks globally and provide a forum for industry leaders demonstrate the latest solutions and best practices to guard against attacks.
  • To provide the region and global information security sector with a strategic peer-to-peer knowledge sharing platform
  • Facilitating unique opportunities for visitors to meet and network with leading IT security companies and like-minded professionals across the full spectrum of industry verticals such as national security, banking and financial services, governance, oil & gas, IT and pharmaceuticals.
  • To give exhibitors a tailored platform to showcase their latest innovations and provide easier accessibility to their target audience including developers, security solution providers, and decision makers from across the region as beyond.
  • To set the benchmark in the region for developing IT security strategies for the industry and professionals.
  • Affirm GISEC’s reputation as a must-attend event for anyone connected with information security and cybersecurity.

Who should attend GISEC?

As the foremost cyber security conference in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the three-day show will feature more than 120 exhibitors from 80-plus countries, with four days of learning and more than 40 conference sessions led by 60-plus industry experts.

GISEC 2018 offers visitors unparalleled opportunities to explore the cutting-edge trends and technologies that are shaping cybersecurity worldwide. The event is expected to draw over 7,500 industry professionals, providing a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and trade.

The show appeals to anyone connected to the cybersecurity industry and those interested in the future of cybersecurity. While predominantly a trade-specific event, GISEC 2018 is open to the public. Anyone who wants to expand their knowledge on cybersecurity and listen from global experts in the field can register to attend the exhibition for AED100.

What interesting talks/activities can we expect to see at the event?
