How to Use Bybit in the US: Trade and Invest Safely in 2025

Keira Waddell Updated on July 04, 2025 Fact-checked by Kristina Joshevska Former Senior Writer

Being my favorite trading platform, it’s frustrating when I travel to the US and can’t access Bybit due to its compliance with local regulations. So, I needed a way to use it while traveling. Luckily, I found an easy and safe solution to access Bybit from the US while maintaining online privacy and security.

The fastest way to trade on Bybit from the US is with a Virtual Private Network (VPN). By changing your IP address with one from an unrestricted country, you’ll lead Bybit into thinking you’re in a different region. This way, you’ll easily access the platform from the US. It also encrypts your internet connection, safeguarding your data from potential threats.

Disclaimer: You will need to comply with a KYC verification if you’re a new Bybit customer, so you won’t be able to fully access the platform if you’re a citizen from a restricted country. Also, be aware that using a VPN to bypass Bybit’s geoblocks can go against the platform’s Terms of Service, and you may risk your account being restricted and losing your funds. Be sure to check the rules for accessing Bybit in your location and make yourself aware of the risks.

Quick Guide: How to Use Bybit in the US With a VPN in 3 Easy Steps

  1. Download a VPN.
  2. Connect to a server.
Connect to a server where the platform is available. Servers close to your location will give you the fastest connection. I found the Mexico server particularly reliable.
  3. Start trading on Bybit.
Head to Bybit, log in, and start trading safely.

Why You Need a VPN to Use Bybit in the US

Bybit has an extensive list of countries where it’s restricted, and the US stands at the top. This means that it will block you from accessing it if it detects a US IP address. Bybit doesn't comply with the stringent regulatory framework governing cryptocurrency exchanges in the US, so it doesn’t offer its services in the States.

When you’re on Bybit’s site or try to log in from the US, you’ll see the following error messages:

“Your IP address indicates that you are located in one of Bybit’s restricted countries or regions. According to our Terms of Service, Bybit does not provide service to your country or region.”

Or:

“Your IP address is not within Bybit's service zone. As a result, we regret to inform you that your attempted action cannot be completed. If you have any queries, please feel free to contact us via live chat or submit a request to Customer Support for further assistance.”

VPNs work by changing your actual IP address with one from the country of your choice. Since Bybit blocks users based on their location, you can lead the platform into thinking you're somewhere else. If you’re traveling to the US, and you need to check your existing Bybit account, you can just connect to a server back in your country.

FAQs on Using Bybit in the US With a VPN

Is it legal to use a VPN to use Bybit from the US?

Yes, it is legal for you to use a VPN to access Bybit from the US. However, while hypothetically using a VPN to bypass Bybit’s geographical restrictions isn't illegal, it does violate its Terms of Service. If detected, Bybit may restrict or terminate your access to their platform.

It's important that you do your research before using a VPN to access Bybit in the US and make sure you’re fully aware of the risks. The team and I don’t condone breaking any rules or regulations.

Why is Bybit banned in the US?

Bybit is banned in the US due to the regulations imposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other financial regulatory bodies. These regulations are in place to protect investors, but they also limit the availability of certain crypto trading platforms that haven't complied with these regulations. Bybit falls into this category, as it has not sought regulatory approval to operate within the US.

The most reliable way to access your Bybit account in the US is with a VPN. Plus, you need to ensure the VPN has the necessary technology (like obfuscation) to remain undetected by Bybit.

Can I use Bybit in the US without KYC verification?

You can’t fully access Bybit’s services in the US without completing KYC verification. A VPN will let you access the site, and users from an unrestricted region will be able to use the full features if they have completed verification.

Bybit will require KYC for withdrawals and when trading volumes exceed certain thresholds. Trading without KYC carries the risk of account suspension if suspicious activity is detected, so it's advisable to understand and adhere to the platform’s guidelines.

Which countries block Bybit?

Bybit doesn’t offer its services to users in the US, the UK, Canada, mainland China, Singapore, North Korea, Cuba, Iran, Uzbekistan, Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine, and Syria. These blocks are typically in place to control the flow of digital currencies and protect consumers from potential scams and financial risks associated with unregulated trading platforms. The only way for account holders to access Bybit in these regions is with a reliable VPN.

Note that some of the above-mentioned countries have placed certain restrictions on VPN use, so if you decide to use one, make sure you are aware of your country’s VPN laws.

Are there Bybit alternatives in the US?

Yes, there are several Bybit alternatives available in the US that comply with local regulations. Platforms like Coinbase, Kraken, and Binance US offer legal avenues for cryptocurrency trading and investment. These platforms often require thorough KYC verification processes but provide a secure and regulated environment for trading digital assets. However, I recommend using a VPN with these platforms to ensure the safety of your trading data and wallet.

Many VPNs fall short when it comes to working with Bybit in the US, either due to inadequate server capabilities or weak security features. However, there are a few that reliably work with Bybit. These VPNs use advanced technology to protect your data.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on our Bybit VPN review. Our team investigated the accuracy of the review based on your feedback regarding KYC requirements. After careful evaluation, we didn’t find it necessary to make changes, as we do note that users with U.S. KYC will have restricted access regardless of VPN use. Valuable feedback like yours helps us ensure the accuracy of our reviews, and we thank you again for taking the time to comment.
