PrivateVPN advertises itself as one of the best VPNs for streaming at a low price. It also claims to have great torrenting support, strong security features, and a true no-logs policy. But PrivateVPN is a small company, so can it compete with the biggest VPNs? To learn the answer, I tested out everything it offers. My global team and I found out if it really lets you stream securely in the bes...

    Works Great for many years.

I've been using their service for a great many years, and I'm very pleased indeed. Great service and s... upport, and more than enough speed for covering my needs. As long as they have coverage in countries I need to connect to, the number of servers in total is less relevant, as long as the servers they Do have provide enough speeds. They also support Wireguard, which is seldom mentioned in these reviews, probably since they don't have it in their native app, but they do and it's rock solid using that with their provided config files, and that in and of itself also increases the connection speeds, at least for me. All in all, they provide anything and all I want from a VPN provider. What others see as a downside, split tunneling and such, I see as a strength. I want my VPN provider to stick their nose in my business as little as possible, but rather provide a "clean VPN line" and then let Me decide what to do with my routing table. In short, they're Great, for my needs, but others will have to test and make up their own minds. :-DMore

    Been There

I've been using PrivateVPN for a year. The main reason was due to good price. It's slow, on certain ho... urs of the day you can't watch video smoothly. They have down time or some other problem frequently and it take ages to fix it. Customer support are so poor that my mum without IT knowledge could probably do a better job. Now I switched to another one and feelings for PrivateVPN is much worse because I have something to compare withMore

BoxPN is a no-frills, simple VPN service that has been around since 2009. Its price point seems attractive, but I found its lack of functions and low number of servers off-putting. I tested every aspect of BoxPN, from speed and security to privacy, customer support, and device compatibility. I found that, while BoxPN is safe and easy to use, it's let down by poor performance and a lack of trans...

    Seems secure. Average speeds.

They do have a Kill Switch, as of some months ago and it occasionally invokes whilst connected. Been u... sing it for about 5 years. Speeds could be a bit better. Their support usually gets back to me within a day. They don't give you any notice of renewal, so if you want to change provider and cancel before they charge, you'd have to set a reminder. All in all - OK for occasional use.More

Full assessment requires subscription experience. Long-time subscriber. Nothing we do online is privat... e from the IT of the superpowers. Pros: BoxPN tells you upfront in the TOS that it's not private and neither is your data. Cons: Creates the illusion of being anonymous. Legalese hides the meanings of disclosures in the TOS. They do not disclose USA record keeping. They dismiss Help Tickets. Connections drop frequently. They log your usage. Terms of Service states: (TOS quote) "The BoxPN.com website uses cookies, tracking pixels, and related technologies. Cookies are small data files that are served by our platform and stored on your device. Our site uses cookies dropped by us to operate and personalize the website. Also, cookies may also be used to track how you use the site to target ads to you on other websites." and they track the usage (TOS quote) "Usage policy As a user of BoxPN.com you completely agree never do the following actions using our services: - to use our service to engage in any type of criminal activities including any form of identity theft, hacking, or fraud. - to transmit viruses, worms, trojans, spyware, or malware using our service - to share copyright files - to harass, blackmail, or threaten anybody - to use our service to make DDoS attacks on other people, websites, computers, or networks - to attack, hack or run scanners on other computers or networks from our service - to send unsolicited data in any form (email SPAM, hate mail, mass marketing mail, unsolicited SMS and IM messages etc.) - to download\upload or distribute child pornography - to attack our resources or servers - to use our service for phishing - to use our service for the purposes of terrorism - to pay our service, not with your own credit card" BoxPN has a practice of tracking and record keeping. Where are the limits? They track payment history. They transmit packets on usage to somebody in Chicago. The best practice is to utilize redundant forms of enforcing anonymity.More

Final Verdict — Tons of Value For a Great Price PrivateVPN is one of the most impressive VPNs available today. It works great for streaming, and it’s always given me smooth playback. The service also performed excellently in my torrenting and gaming tests. Plus, it’s super privacy-friendly and protects your device with military-grade encryption. There are a few areas where it could improve. It doesn’t have as many servers as its larger competitors. And it’s not the fastest VPN I’ve tested, although it should give most people decent speeds. I’d also like to see a few more security features and compatibility options added to it. Overall, most people will get great value for their money with PrivateVPN. If you need a VPN with the most advanced technology and a massive server network, I’d recommend paying a little more for ExpressVPN. However, you won’t find much better if you need a
