CyberGhost and IPVanish are two very evenly matched VPNs — at least at a glance. But the devil’s in the details.

Looking past the massive server networks, strong encryption, and the arsenal of features both VPNs possess, there are some different aspects. CyberGhost has a brilliant profile-based interface and great unblocking capacity. IPVanish isn’t too far behind, but its major highlight is speed, thanks to optimized clients and servers.

As for privacy, CyberGhost’s strict zero-logging policy combined with headquarters in Romania make it the more enticing choice, compared to the US-based IPVanish.

Both VPNs allow P2P, which is essential for torrenting. While they have great apps on all popular platforms, IPVanish offers 10 simultaneous connections — three more than CyberGhost.

However, CyberGhost is the more reliable VPN for unblocking Netflix and the Great Firewall of China, thanks to its live chat — a feature sorely missed in IPVanish.

Lastly, CyberGhost gives you an ample refund window of 45 days, compared to IPVanish’s rather short 7-day money-back guarantee.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.19/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

Great interface and is very intuitive. Many locations with reasonably fast speeds. There are a lot of ... essential features I like as well. Wireguard, Wifi Protect, Etc. I took out the 2-year plan at a fair discount so I can say that, given the price, it's a decent balance of quantity and quality.More

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

IPVanish offers high-speed connections and an impressive list of advanced security features at a budget-friendly price. So, I was eager to test it out for myself. I carefully studied its privacy policy and thoroughly tested its speeds, security features, and streaming capabilities. I also looked into its network coverage and ease of use before putting its customer service team to the test. ...

    Very, very satisfied

I am into my third year of using IPVanish. I am extremely happy with the speed, reliability, features ... and reliability. The fact that I have used it for this long without trying the competition speaks volumes. I am never going to try anything else because I am completely happy with what I have. Why risk it?More

Misleading, false advertising, don't honor guarantee. BEWARE

IP address and region not effectively blocked on most sites. Streaming sites do NOT work with their se... rvices, but they do not disclose that anywhere on their website. The support team had no idea in terms of technical knowledge. They claim that their 30-day guarantee is unconditional and there is no risk, but they have so many exclusions buried in their fine print that the average user would have huge difficulty finding. They advertise on many streaming how-to websites where they KNOW their services do not work. COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. If I could give less than one star I would. SO unethical.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

CyberGhost is the perfect choice for users in need of a hassle-free VPN, thanks to its preconfigured profiles and excellent performance. IPVanish is seriously fast and just as secure but requires a more hands-on approach. Additionally, CyberGhost offers some great coupons and deals you will not want to miss out on.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Both CyberGhost and IPVanish provide P2P — but IPVanish also offers port forwarding on all its servers. However, CyberGhost has a bigger network and a more favorable headquarters, where you won’t have to worry about DMCA requests.

    Best VPN for Windows

CyberGhost’s Windows client is the most feature-packed with an elegant interface, several useful profiles, and a host of features and settings. IPVanish comes close with a stylish, optimized client of its own, as well as SOCKS5 proxy support.

    Best VPN for Android

CyberGhost has a neat Android app, which can help you secure your connection and even unblock Netflix with ease — but you’ll need to configure the OpenVPN protocol manually if you want it. IPVanish also has a dedicated Android app, but it lacks advanced unblocking capabilities and doesn’t include OpenVPN by default.

    Best VPN for Mac

CyberGhost is consistently good on Mac, although some advanced features don’t carry over from Windows. IPVanish also does well, but its macOS client isn’t as exhaustive.

    Best VPN for iOS

IPVanish’s native app for iOS and 10 simultaneous connections make it ideal for users with multiple Apple devices. CyberGhost performs great on iOS as well, and its support for up to seven devices is well above average.

    Best VPN for USA

If unblocking US content is what you’re after, CyberGhost is a top pick for US Netflix, Hulu, and many more streaming services. For fast speeds within the country, IPVanish has a bigger US network of over 470 servers.

    The Bottom Line

Both CyberGhost and IPVanish are similarly priced and have their advantages, but the former is the more well-rounded VPN with a fine balance of security, unblocking, and ease of use. CyberGhost offers a versatile network of 2,200+ servers in 60 countries, dependable access to your favorite geoblocked streams, and all the essentials for a safer time online. IPVanish impresses with speed and style, but being US-based and struggling with advanced unblocking, it’s better suited for torrents and users who need VPN protection on more than seven devices.

Time to decide which one is best for you
