    If you're looking for an affordable VPN for streaming, both Getflix and Surfshark have probably popped up in your search results. So, how do you choose between the two? It turns out it's actually not that difficult. While these VPNs have some things in common, one offers a much better service than the other.

    Both are pretty good at unblocking streaming services. As you'd expect given the name, Getflix gave me access to Netflix but also sites like BBC iPlayer and HBO Max. Surfshark performed just as well, unblocking all the same services.

    This was slightly surprising given Surfshark's network is much bigger that Getflix's. Surfshark gives you access to 3,200 servers across 100 countries, while Getflix has just 39 servers in total.

    Getflix VPN also offers SmartDNS for fast streaming, but it's important to note that you get no additional encryption with this service. Surfshark's servers are fast and protect your traffic with military-grade security at the same time.

    This VPN is fast and reliable. It has a lot of servers in different countries and can be used in an un... limited amount of devices (it supports Linux, which is something very important for me).     Don't waste your money on dedicated IP

    While the generic Surfshark servers work well, the dedicated IP is worse than useless. With it, I get ... constant captchas and some websites refuse to connect at all. All is fine once I reconnect to a generic or even free VPN. Support is friendly but hopelessly incompetent at getting the problem fixed. So the dedicated IP works exactly opposite as what is advertised, all while vacuuming money out of your wallet. Stay away.More

    Getflix DNS

    I have had this service for a number of years in New Zealand. Getflix is really a DNS service at fir... st. I have put the smart DNS in my router so it covers all devices in my home. On my Nvidia Shield, iPad, and iPhone I can stream BBC player, ITV, Channel 9, 10, and ABC, and I also have access to HBO max and other streaming services which I would not normally be able to use because of geographic restrictions. DNS is better than using a VPN to change location as it doesn't slow the speed of my connection and also I don't have to keep changing the location on the VPN. If you use this service as a DNS service only it works really well. So again, use this as a DNS service and maybe use another provider for VPN.More

    Not working. Terrible customer service

    I'm surprised this review is listed as being updated on Jan 22 and still lists US Netflix access, when...  no access to US Netflix has been possible via Getflix since Sept 21 and still isn't possible. As of this week access to Amazon, Prime US has also failed for me and the terrible customer service makes the whole experience so much worse. Typically the chat responses work until you ask a tricky question (like when will this be fixed?) and then they will disconnect you and the entire chat box option then disappears. To make matters worse, despite knowing that several friends and colleagues have had the same experience (of being prematurely cut off) they will try to tell you that you disconnected the chat and that it must be an issue with your internet, although that has literally never happened to me on any other chat service online! In the past the service would go down and they would tell you the backend team was working on fixing it and you'd get an eta, but now it seems that access to Netflix US and Amazon US are not going to be fixed, which is a core part of why people are using the service.     Surfshark is better because it's much easier to use. It has intuitive, native apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and Linux, plus browser extensions and router compatibility. Getflix is only compatible with Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and I found it quite complex to set up (it's even harder if you want to use the Smart DNS service). Both VPNs offer decent speeds and unblocking abilities, but I'd choose Surfshark's user-friendly apps every time.

    Best VPN for Torrents

    Surfshark is better because it has special P2P servers and supports torrent activities. Getflix VPN’s torrent policy is a little unclear. Although it mentions P2P file sharing on its device pages, its FAQ pages state that only specific servers in countries that allow torrenting will work. Both VPNs have great security, no logs policies, and kill switches so your IP and data should be secure, but Surfshark is more suited to file-sharing activities.

    Surfshark is better because its app is extremely easy to install with just a couple of clicks. Its Windows app also boasts bonus features like split tunneling, an ad and tracker blocker, and MultiHop servers.
