NordVPN No Logs Policy 2024: The Rumors Are True

Kristina Perunicic Updated on 9th August 2024 Former Managing Editor

Most top-rated VPN providers claim to have a strict no-logs policy - but can you really trust them? With little to no evidence, we don’t blame you for being hesitant to take nothing but a VPN provider’s word when it comes to the security of your sensitive personal data.

NordVPN has always claimed to have a strict zero-logs policy. Instead of taking it at surface value, we’ve done some digging - and now, we can safely say they’ve proven to genuinely follow through with that promise.

You Can Rely on NordVPN's No-Logs Policy

NordVPN’s no-logs policy has always been a prominent feature they proudly highlight in their Terms of Service, just as most leading VPN providers do. However, what sets them apart from the rest is the recent announcement of unbiased evidence to prove it, too.

In an unprecedented move on the part of VPN providers everywhere, NordVPN hired independent auditors from a prominent “Big 4” auditing firm to conduct an in-depth audit on their no-logs policy.

The results are in, and although they are unable to release direct quotes from the report itself, NordVPN has provided a summary of the audit’s outcome in a blog post on their website. They are very satisfied with the results, as they’ve confirmed that NordVPN does not store any personal IP addresses or logs of any subscribers’ private internet activities.

The only information that is tracked is that of users’ concurrent active sessions and only for up to 15 minutes with no signs of proxying services to be found. NordVPN users can log in to their accounts to view more detailed highlights of the report now.

What’s more, NordVPN’s zero-logging policy is backed by the fact that their company is registered in Panama—a country with no data retention laws. Panama is located outside of the 5/9/14-Eyes Alliance, meaning that NordVPN can never be forced to share any user logs with external parties.

What This Means for Your Privacy

The implications of the audit on NordVPN’s no-logs policy are huge. They have set the bar high for other leading VPNs when it comes to testing and proving the validity of their privacy protection claims.

Furthermore, they are continuing this practice by scheduling audits for other aspects of their services. If more VPNs in the industry adopt similar strategies, all VPN users can anticipate a significantly enhanced level of privacy and security.

NordVPN's trustworthy no-logs policy safeguards your privacy by avoiding any tracking:

  • The IP addresses or servers you use.
  • The websites you visit or files you download.
  • The time or duration of your online sessions.

And, if that’s not enough, you can add an extra layer of anonymity to your online activity by paying for NordVPN’s service with cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.

NordVPN Benefits

In addition to a proven no-logs policy, there are many other reasons why NordVPN is so popular among users.Small assortment of technological devices compatible with NordVPN.

NordVPN is able to quickly and easily bypass even the most sophisticated geo-blocks, allowing you to stream services such as Netflix US, HBO GO, BBC iPlayer, and Hulu from anywhere in the world.

Not only will you be able to access geoblocked content on these websites - you’ll also enjoy a smooth and buffer-free streaming experience, thanks to their SmartPlay technology.

Their robust server network includes 6,800 servers in 113 different countries.

NordVPN even works in China, one of the most censorship-heavy countries there is.

Continuing with their impressive security features, NordVPN works with 2048-bit military-grade encryption and a double VPN, sending your personal data through two separate encryption rounds, ensuring it remains as protected as possible.

For extra privacy protection, NordVPN also offers DNS leak prevention and an automatic kill switch in the event of any unexpected drops in connection.

NordVPN’s kill switch is unique in that it offers you a choice of different settings—you can either opt to instantly disconnect yourself from the internet, or simply shut down certain apps.

What’s more, you’ll have access to NordVPN’s unique CyberSec technology, a built-in botnet, and malware protection feature.

CyberSec automatically detects and blocks ads while you browse the internet, making your streaming experience more enjoyable (no more annoying pop-up ads!) and protecting you from serious security threats like malware and DDoS attacks. You’ll even be able to watch YouTube videos ad-free, a feature that YouTube premium subscribers pay good money to have access to.

Try out NordVPN for yourself and enjoy their reliable benefits risk-free, with their 30-day money-back guarantee.

Summary

It’s not easy to take a VPN provider’s word when it comes to claims of privacy protection, but NordVPN has given us a reason to trust their claims by validating them with external proof.

You can freely surf the internet, knowing your private online activity is safe thanks to the PwC audit of their strict no-logs policy. So, go ahead and start browsing with NordVPN! But if you find that NordVPN isn’t what you expected, then you can try ExpressVPN, which is another top VPN that adheres to its audited and verified no-logs policy.

tell the truth. I'm currently researching VPNs for my PC and Nordvpn's privacy policy dctates they are not so private. You should read the privacy policy in full then correct your claim.
Examples:
Does NordVPN have offices in countries subject to surveillance?

Five Eyes intelligence alliance
UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand

Nine Eyes
Denmark, France, Norway, and the Netherlands

14 Eyes
Japan, Iceland, and Switzerland

Thank you for sharing your perspective on our NordVPN No-Logs Policy review. Our team investigated the accuracy of the review based on your feedback regarding NordVPN's privacy policy and its relation to surveillance alliances. After careful evaluation, we confirmed that, while NordVPN operates offices in non-privacy-friendly countries, it's registered in Panama — which is free from data retention laws. The VPN's strict no-logs policy is also regularly and independently audited. We did not find it necessary to make changes to our review, but we encourage users to read privacy policies in full to make informed decisions. Valuable feedback like yours helps us ensure the accuracy of our reviews. We thank you again for taking the time to comment.
