Romania-based CyberGhost VPN offers a large network of over 2,700 servers in 60+ countries, while Italy-based AirVPN operates a much smaller network of around 225 servers in about 20 countries. While CyberGhost offers the OpenVPN, L2TP/IPsec and PPTP protocols, AirVPN only offers the OpenVPN protocol. If you’re looking to try either of these VPNs without risk, you’ll want to know that CyberGhost offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, whereas AirVPN only offers a 3-day guarantee. AirVPN also has no mobile apps for iOS or Android, whereas CyberGhost provides dedicated apps for both of these platforms.

CyberGhost and AirVPN, however, share similarities in some key areas. They both allow torrenting and P2P activities and place no bandwidth limits on their service. They also both support desktop apps for MacOS and Windows. In terms of security, you can expect to find 256-bit encryption with both VPNs. A more detailed comparison is provided below to determine the winner of this duel.

They say you get what you pay for, but CyberGhost offers low prices and still claims to be one of the best. Subscriptions come as low as $2.19/month, so that much can’t be debated. But, can it really compete with its top-ranking competitors while charging so little? Over the course of several weeks, we put CyberGhost through an extensive evaluation. We analyzed its privacy policy, stress-test...

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

AirVPN is a budget-friendly option that claims to provide robust protection against online threats. Plus, it says it offers high-performance servers. But can it really rival the top VPNs, or is the price so low because it’s not that good? After testing all its features, I found that AirVPN is secure, but it can't match the best VPNs. It has many great security features, solid speeds, and work...

I am AirVpn cusomers since 2015, and on my gear works remarkably well

I am working in the biggest country in Asia since 2006. I constantly use AirVpn on my MacBook Pro sinc... e 2015, and on my iPhone - iPad. I never had an issue, of any kind, with it, and I was quite amazed to read the article above. Lately, it is very difficult to get it properly run on iPhone and iPad, but this is more the result of this country where I live in restrictions than the vpn in itself. While in Hong Kong was still working fine, but as soon as I crossed the border troubles started. I will tweak that as soon as I will be out again. In the rest of the world, I never had issues. So I do not give the 5th star just because of my at present troubles using it on my iPhone and iPad. For the rest, I will stick with it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

By offering a larger VPN network, dedicated mobile apps, and 24/7 support with live chat, CyberGhost gets our vote for overall VPN performance. In spite of its smaller network, however, AirVPN is also a good VPN that supports multiple platforms, including routers.

    Best VPN for Torrents

CyberGhost has dedicated torrenting servers and is a very easy-to-use VPN for P2P activities. AirVPN also supports torrenting, but requires a lot of manual configurations and tweaks that inexperienced users may find difficult.

    Best VPN for Windows

If you need a Windows VPN that’s highly intuitive and user-friendly with access to a massive global server network, CyberGhost is the ideal choice for you. AirVPN for Windows has a less user-friendly interface, but stays competitive by making secure connections using SSL, Tor, or OpenVPN over SSH.

    Best VPN for Android

CyberGhost offers a 7-day free trial for Android users and features public WiFi protection and multiple VPN protocols, including OpenVPN and L2TP. The app is also neatly designed and easy to navigate around. Meanwhile, AirVPN has no dedicated Android app, but can be easily configured on the platform using the universal OpenVPN app.

    Best VPN for Mac

CyberGhost offers a MacOS VPN app that effectively shields your device from malware and also features an ad blocker. Its MacOS app would suit both novice and technically advanced users because of its user-friendly design and features. AirVPN also has a MacOS client with DNS protection, plus it allows port forwarding.

    Best VPN for iOS

CyberGhost’s iOS app routes traffic through the IPsec protocol and combines this with 256-bit encryption for complete anonymity. The app also features a sleek design and DNS/IP leak protection. AirVPN, on the other hand, has no dedicated iOS app, but allows users to connect on iOS devices by using the generic OpenVPN app.

    Best VPN for USA

If you need to access Netflix-US, Hulu, or any other heavily blocked web services from the US, CyberGhost is the ideal choice, as it unblocks all these services and provides very fast US servers for streaming. AirVPN also unblocks Netflix and other US-based websites, but has failed to do so at times in the past. Its servers are also not as fast as CyberGhost’s.

    The Bottom Line

In terms of performance, customer support, and provision of dedicated apps for mobile operating systems, CyberGhost certainly comes out on top as the winner of this comparison. Its servers are much faster, offering a seamless experience when using any of its apps. With regard to resolving customer queries, users can always rely on CyberGhost’s 24/7 live chat support. CyberGhost also provides a refund within 30 days of activating a subscription without any hassle. If you need a top-class VPN that’s very easy to use, offers a huge server network, and gives you access to Netflix-US, you will not be disappointed if you sign up for CyberGhost today.
