Hola VPN promises speed and security, so we thoroughly tested its free and Premium versions. Overall, its peer-to-peer network and privacy practices are concerning, and there are some restrictions. Do you know what the time limit on Hola VPN’s free plan is? Well, it doesn’t specify on its site. But it only gave us 30 minutes of use each hour. After extensive testing, we found that Hola VPN...

Really good and reliable VPN client

I am very insecure about this post and how reliable this comparison actually is. There will always be ... people that either love or hate Hola VPN, whereas, this is a very individual decision. Personally, I am rather happy with the app (i am also using it on my desktop from time to time) and i do not share the rating that is displayed on this webpage. I cannot say much about the support side but would give the rest (user functions, friendliness as well as pricing) 5 stars; why?!... because it fits my needs in a very easy and reliable manner.More

Astrill VPN is one of the most popular VPNs to use in China. But it's also one of the most expensive VPNs available and doesn't have a money-back guarantee. With such a big investment, is it still the best VPN for China, and should you try it if you're located elsewhere? After my tests, I can confirm it's an excellent VPN for China but falls short in other areas. It offers slow speeds and clunky a...

Been using it for a long time.. but have to go

I have been using Astrill for more than 10 years. Never had a problem. A couple of times I used the ch... at for support and it was excellent. However this is probably going to be my last year. Reason .... price. With the virus crisis I am unemployed and can not afford it. They do not give any kind of discount and keep raising the price year after year. I am not in China so I suspend it, I do not need all those features.More

Don’t even think of it if you own Apple products

Worst VPN ever. Unreliable, unstable. It’s utterly expensive. Forget about streaming. Apple products a... re almost useless with it. Technical support team answers are pretty much like “Why don’t you turn it off and on?”. Please don’t waste your money as I did. They don’t even have a refund policy!More

Final Verdict — Not Recommended Due to Security and Privacy Concerns Our extensive testing of Hola VPN Premium revealed a service with fundamental flaws in its core VPN offering. While it performed surprisingly well with streaming platforms and maintained decent speeds, these benefits are overshadowed by serious privacy and security concerns. Its peer-to-peer network structure, which routes your traffic through other users' devices instead of secure servers, creates inherent risks that no amount of encryption can fully mitigate. The service does get some things right — it's easy to use, supports 10 simultaneous connections, and works well for streaming. However, its extensive logging practices, misleading money-back guarantee, and limited security features make it hard to justify the premium price tag. For similar or lower costs, you can get established VPNs with better security and privacy features.
