If you’re considering UltraVPN or CyberGhost, here’s what you need to know. I tested both and compared how they performed in areas such as speed, unblocking, security, and found a clear winner.

But first, how are these two VPNs alike? Well, they're both good at getting around geo-restrictions. UltraVPN managed to unblock US Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Peacock TV. CyberGhost also easily accessed these platforms and many more.

This is likely because CyberGhost has a much bigger server network. It gives you access to 9,758 servers in 91 countries, while UltraVPN struggles to compete with just 500 server locations.

Both VPNs offer good security but CyberGhost is better for privacy. Each VPN offers military-grade encryption and an automatic kill switch. But UltraVPN is let down by its logging policy, while CyberGhost does a better job of protecting your data.

Overall, CyberGhost was the winner thanks to its unblocking capabilities, user-friendly apps, and security features. However, UltraVPN also performed well in some areas, with good speeds and email support.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.19/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

    Mostly Works

So far, the basic functions seem to be working fine. What isn't working is that the program will not ... automatically reconnect my computer to the internet after CG has "blocked" a connection. I don't know why it is blocking the connection nor does CG explain exactly what happened (or didn't happen). Instead, I get two choices (which can't remember what they are) in order to reconnect to the internet. I don't understand what the choices are nor do I understand why I have to choose. IMHO, the core functionality should be that CG is constantly trying to reconnect me to the internet and I shouldn't have to tell it to do that. It's like stopping at a stop light and having to wait for someone to give me permission to go again when the light turns green; the default state should simply be "Go".More

    ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

Literally has not worked at all. The "support" is utterly useless. Tried all their "solutions" and no ... difference. Now they won't give me a refund. I paid $90 for a product that hasn't worked. Avoid this product like the plague.More

UltraVPN is a fairly small service that advertises as super-fast and claims to be able to unblock all content. It also claims to be safe and secure with virtually unbreakable encryption. Other than that, the VPN does not offer a lot of info on the website, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. So, I signed up and took it for a test run to see how it holds up against some of the top-tier VPN...

    Fast VPN

Using UltraVPN for 3 months and it's fast for streaming. I like it and would recommend UltraVPN. I use...  it during travel and the accessibility and streaming are very strong. I always used a free vpn app before this and the streaming was hit or miss. With UltraVPN it is much better.More

    Best VPN by category

CyberGhost is better because all of its plans offer users a huge network of 7909 servers, with great speeds for streaming. CyberGhost unblocked every single platform I tested, while UltraVPN failed to access BBC iPlayer on its UK server. Both have good security features which are available on all major platforms, but CyberGhost won overall with its easy to use, feature-packed apps.

CyberGhost is better because it has incredible speeds for file sharing, along with multiple optimized servers for P2P activities in locations across the globe. UltraVPN does allow torrenting, however, it is based in the US and keeps logs. This means that if the government requested your data they would hand it over, which isn’t great for a torrenting VPN. CyberGhost has a strict no-logs policy to keep your data secure.

CyberGhost is better because its user-friendly Windows app has more features and is easier to use than UltraVPN. I also had a few problems when I tried to set up and pay for UltraVPN. CyberGhost is easy to install, and its app is simple to navigate.

CyberGhost is better because its Android app is super lightweight and intuitive. It installed in seconds and was easy to navigate. UltraVPN also has an Android app, but you get more features for a better price with CyberGhost (like split tunneling and an ad-blocker).

CyberGhost is better because its macOS app supports automatic WiFi protection. This launches the VPN if it detects any unknown network — great for keeping your MacBook protected if you often use it with unsecured public hotspots.

CyberGhost is better because it has a special Private Browser add-on for iOS. The app also supports the super-fast WireGuard protocol, meaning you get the fastest speeds for streaming or video-calling on your iPhone or iPad.

CyberGhost is better because it has streaming-optimized servers that are designed to work with US content. All I had to do was choose from the list of servers that are labeled with the platform they unblocked. Each one gave me fast enough speeds to stream in UHD and I could unblock Netflix US, Hulu, Comedy Central, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and more.

    The Bottom Line

Both of these VPNs offer decent speeds and unblocking abilities. However, overall, I found CyberGhost's apps much more user-friendly. Its streaming-optimized servers make watching movies and TV easy. Plus, I had no trouble signing up for CyberGhost, while signing up for UltraVPN was a bit of a nightmare.

At the moment, CyberGhost is offering you 84% off your subscription too. If you go for a longer-term CyberGhost plan, you even get a generous 45-day money-back guarantee. Simply claim a refund if the service isn't right for you.
