Both NordVPN and IPVanish offer multiple simultaneous connections (NordVPN offers 6, while IPVanish offers 5), have unlimited bandwidth, and have lots of servers in countries all over the world.

That said, one area where NordVPN races ahead is its customer service. IPVanish can take a really long time to respond, whereas NordVPN’s is available 24/7. NordVPN also comes out on top in terms of reliability and ease of use. Plus, only NordVPN can access US Netflix and bypass the great firewall of China. Scroll down to see why NordVPN is the winner.

IPVanish is an extremely popular VPN, and for good reason. Established in 2014, IPVanish offers exactly what you need in a VPN; a big list of servers, great security protocols, decent speeds, and simple functionality. However, recent reports show that IPVanish monitored and kept user activity logs, even though their privacy policy states they do not. We want to make sure you get the best VPN for y

Awesome Experience User-friendly interface. Excellent speed test performance. Hundreds of servers around the globe. Allows BitTorrenting. Automatic IP address cycling. Kill switch. I like the flexibility of the service and the options that are offered.

Extremely poor treatment of customers Completely useless! They are far more interested in taking your money than being there to support you when their quite epileptic service begins to play up and interrupt the flow of whatever you are doing online. Also they only present you with an opportunity to chat when you indicate a wish to terminate the service. As said above, they do not really even warrant the minimum one star!

NordVPN is surely the most popular VPN provider, but does this mean it is also the best one? What I saw is that they do not have one “killer feature,” but rather a combination of supreme security, careful attention to privacy, and a handy support that’s one click away. For this review, I tried to tackle NordVPN and find flaws in their product, but I’m not sure I succeeded. Sure, I found a few t

One of the few providers that isn't based in USA I was looking for a vpn service that would be based somewhere outside the USA and glad that Nord crossed my path as they're in panama. If you want to get a vpn mainly for protecting your data - Nord is the right choice. They aren't lying about not keeping any logs and you get additional security features like kill-switch, cybersec..

375 Mbps reduced to 12 Mbps Great in the first 30 days then extreme bandwidth issues after committing to the 2-year plan. Technical support is largely scripted within a 'defer and delay' paradigm. Bandwidth degraded to 12Mbps (of 375Mbps). Same 'troubleshooting' approach on each of my 3 interactions with their 'technical support'. Strict adherence to a 'no problem on our side' mentality. These guys will send you on every fool's errand in their playbook until you accept the bandwidth capping or leave. Switched to ExpressVPN and have not looked back.

Best VPNs by category

Best VPNs Overall width="172" width="172" NordVPN is known to be the best overall VPN for security, reliability, and ability to access geo-restricted content.
Best VPNs for Torrents width="172" width="172" Both IPVanish and Nord are good for torrenting. IPVanish allows P2P on all of its servers. NordVPN, on the other hand, has dedicated servers in specific locations.
Best VPNs for Windows width="172" width="172" If you want a more user-friendly program, then NordVPN is for you. But, if you'd rather have the option to manually set up your own protocol without any hassle, then IPVanish is the way to go.
Best VPNs for Android width="172" width="172" IPVanish offers access to all of its servers on their Android app. While NordVPN's Android app is more limited (only 1,600 servers instead of the 1,800), its Android app is more user-friendly.
Best VPNs for MAC width="172" width="172" NordVPN offers a user-friendly platform to integrate your VPN with your Mac. IPVanish's platform is a bit less user-friendly, but still compatible with Mac.
Best VPNs for iOS width="172" width="172" IPVanish's iOS app does not offer OpenVPN, but does include other security protocols. By default, NordVPN's iOS app uses the IKEv2/IPsec protocol, but you can manually change it to OpenVPN and others.
Best VPNs for USA width="172" width="172" Although IPVanish has over 450 servers in America, it won't get past the Netflix block. NordVPN, on the other hand, has over 800 servers and consistently unblocks Netflix and other streaming sites.

 The Bottom Line

Catherine Ablett

Even though both prioritize security, and have tons of servers in over 60 countries, NordVPN is the winner.
It's NordVPN's approach to customer service, its user-friendly platform, and its 30-day money back guarantee policy (compared to IPVanish's 7 days) that pushes it into the lead. Its place as the winner is secured by its ability to bypass the Netflix and China blocks and its lower long-term subscription prices.  More Info
