To the casual observer, there isn’t much difference between NordVPN and Ivacy, two well-known VPN services with large customer bases. Both Ivacy and NordVPN use military-grade encryption to secure their networks, support P2P activities, and have dedicated client apps for most platforms, routers, and consoles. The two VPNs also share some similar security features, such as kill switches, leak prevention, and public wi-fi and malware protection. In addition, both providers work well on restrictive networks. With a deeper look, however, we find critical differences between Ivacy and NordVPN. While NordVPN boasts a massive server network of more than 6,139 servers spread across numerous locations in over 67 countries, Ivacy has a smaller array of 5,700 servers in 100 countries. Ivacy also often disappoints with slow speeds and connection drops, making it a less than ideal choice if you need a VPN for streaming. In contrast, NordVPN maintains steady performance and excellent speeds to work almost flawlessly for any online activity, including streaming, torrenting, and gaming. Moreover, NordVPN is packed with more features like Double VPN for extra security, Onion over VPN for private browsing, and SmartPlay for one-click connection to your licensed streaming sites. Ivacy competes by offering five simultaneous connections per account at eye-catching prices, but NordVPN’s slightly higher prices give you one more connection per subscription. Superb 24/7 live chat support is available from both Ivacy and NordVPN, together with 30-day money-back guarantees and a variety of payment options. Let’s take this competition across the finish line by going category by category.

On the surface, NordVPN looks like a really impressive service. It claims to have a huge global server network, a speedy and reliable connection, and iron-clad security and privacy features. Plus, you can get it all for just $3.39/month. That all sounds great, but is there a catch? To find out, I did an in-depth analysis of NordVPN. I tested its speeds and how well it performs when you’re str...

    The Best of The Best

I simply tested all VPNs looking for cutting-edge online security, I tested the most expensive and the...  most talked about virtual anonymity, none made me as happy as NordVPN, it stands out for several reasons that the much more expensive ones it doesn't have, its double encryption, dedicated IPs, onion VPN, makes NordVPN unique, with almost 6,000 servers around the world and 12 million customers like me, you can see that NordVPN is not playing games with its customers and their online security , it always innovates to keep you more secure day after day, for a fair price in the long term and without sacrificing the speed of your connection, recently Nord is developing a new VPN protocol, Nordlynx a version still under construction derived from the Wireguard protocol, if you want to have a VPN of last security that think how it will make you more secure in the next month NordVPN is the right choice, I am completely thankful for being a customer and for finding what to me is the perfect VPN.More

Average service, some nice features, rubbish support

Basic features work really well. Basically. I liked the feature that when Nord crashes (as it seems to...  do monthly) it will shut other apps so they aren't exposed. My subscription is based in Australia. Found downloads peak at about 1-1.5Mb/s, which is ok as long as you aren't playing online games. Don't go for the frills (though hard not to when they gamify them). I canceled my subscription because I added the Kill switch and then MFA. Nek Minnit I can't even log in. No way to remove the Kill switch without logging in. Uninstalled, reinstalled no joy. Went to the help page, and it redirected me to up my subscription as the only solution. No chatbot where I am. and I don't have an email app so couldn't email help. After a couple of hours of mucking around. Gave up and went to a competitor. Note: if I hadn't played with the security settings, I would still be with Nord. But if I can't log in, it's a dead service to me.More

Ivacy is a long-running VPN with some of the cheapest subscriptions around. It also offers a popular free version and an extensive server network with many rare locations. But is it actually safe or trustworthy with your data? After all my tests, I’ve concluded that Ivacy is a solid option but not at the top VPN level. It offers above-average speeds and adequate security; the free version is...

Not sure where all these negative thoughts come from.

Never had a problem connecting my desktop pooters with Ivacy. Had minor problem connecting my IOS devi... ce to my dedicated European IP but that was soon sorted. I daresay most of the negativity comes from the younger generation who have no patience. Staff at Ivacy who helped this 75yr old were awesome and ever helpful. Keep at it guys! I'd give them 9.5.More

    Terrible support

I was a customer 6 years ago. They still email me frequently, despite me unsubscribing many times and ... reaching out to their customer support 8+ times. If Ivacy can't get this right then I wouldn't trust any other promise that they make.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

With 5,000+ fast servers, a fully-loaded feature set, solid privacy, and robust encryption, NordVPN outpaces Ivacy as a more reliable VPN service, suitable for all kinds of users in different parts of the world.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Both Ivacy and NordVPN have specialized servers without bandwidth or speed restrictions for torrenting, backed by strong encryption. However, NordVPN takes the lead once again with faster and more stable connections for downloading and uploading.

    Best VPN for Windows

Ivacy and NordVPN both have attractive, feature-rich, and very user-friendly dedicated apps for Windows. The two apps come with built-in kill switches, dedicated P2P servers, and multiple protocols. However, NordVPN for Windows is more intuitive, more customizable, and faster.

    Best VPN for Android

You can watch your favorite shows in HD on Netflix or check your email securely on the go with NordVPN’s multi-purpose Android app. It is very easy to use and works seamlessly with all major sites. Ivacy also offers a user-friendly app for your Android devices, with a built-in kill switch.

    Best VPN for Mac

With advanced security, a kill switch, obfuscated servers, and a CyberSec suite that gets rid of malware and unwanted ads, NordVPN makes sure that your Mac is absolutely secure. Online streaming fans will enjoy buffer-free streaming in HD with NordVPN’s SmartPlay mode and fast servers. Meanwhile, Ivacy also has an attractive app for MacOS with lots of features, including a kill switch, but it comes up short in speed and overall performance.

    Best VPN for iOS

NordVPN allows you to run its super sleek iOS app on six devices at the same time. The Quick Connect option gives you access to the fastest available server in a tap, including specialized servers for streaming and P2P. NordVPN’s app also secures your connection with a kill switch, Double VPN, and Tor over VPN. Ivacy’s dedicated app runs on five iOS devices simultaneously and connects you to P2P-optimized servers. A Smart Connect feature and Smart Purpose Selection mode help you find the ideal server for your task. However, Ivacy’s iOS app runs much slower than NordVPN’s.

    Best VPN for USA

Whether it’s Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime, you can stream your licensed US sites in HD easily with both NordVPN and Ivacy. The major difference is that NordVPN operates at higher connection speeds with near-zero disconnections, and has a larger server presence within the US. Ivacy’s smaller network is less stable and often too slow for smooth streaming.

    The Bottom Line

Even though Ivacy and NordVPN have many capabilities in common in terms of security and privacy, NordVPN knocks out Ivacy and stands as the champion in this comparison. Offering a top-quality service with powerful performance, fast servers, and more polished, reliable, and easy-to-use apps for everyone and almost any device, NordVPN is simply one of the best VPNs ever created. Streaming HD videos couldn’t be easier with NordVPN, and its capacity to download large torrent files is equally impressive. Numerous advanced security features and user-focused add-ons make NordVPN a great value for your money, too.
