PrivateVPN is a growing provider that claims to be a great VPN for security and privacy, as the name implies. Instead of offering a long list of unique features, this VPN sells itself as a simple but high-performing service. We put PrivateVPN through a series of tests to find out how it performs in each category and whether it will truly keep you safe and private. PrivateVPN’s strength...

Comparatively Slow, but otherwise good product

It allowed my Plex to be accessed from outside of my network. That's a plus. It was much cheaper t... han the service I was already using (Express VPN). Another plus. Although everyone talks about how this service has fewer access points, they had enough close to me to not be a problem. Yay! And that may be enough for you. Here's my problem with this service: Baseline Internet Test Speed for download, NO VPN (server in Dallas): 446.2 Mbps Express VPN Internet Test Speed for download (server in Dallas): 292.6 Mbps PrivateVPN Internet Test Speed for download (server in Dallas): 53.3 Mbps Other locations were even worse (Atlanta: 50.1 Mbps, Phoenix: 46.0 Mbps) Basically, while using PrivateVPN, I'm wasting my money on a high-speed bandwidth service. That's the same speed I was getting when I only had 100 Mbps service. Express VPN did not support IP pass-through, which broke my Plex access, so it's not even an option for me anymore. But I'm going to keep looking for another service with a better download speed than this one.More

As a VPN from a leading cybersecurity company, you’d expect Kaspersky Secure Connection to be of a high standard. But its privacy policy has always concerned me because of its suspicious connections with the Russian FBS. Also, the US government has banned the use of Kaspersky software within its factions, which raises further concerns. After conducting my testing and research, I can say that...

BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK

Very Good Deal pricing wise, very simple to operate, love the KILL SWITCH option, which protects you f... rom KSC loss while online, and protects; banking, bitcoin, ethereal, litecoin, B2B, etc. Only two drawbacks witnessed are; sometimes there's the slowness with throughput or latency with the limited amount of servers/growing popularity AND you have to manually update to new improve releases/versions (wish KSC was auto-update or at least notified you when a new version is available.More

Uninstalling it- Webmail Problems

Going to uninstall it. Have used Kaspersky KIS for years. However, the VPN product made my webmail wit... h Earthlink inoperable. Not all the time but enough that I would go a couple of days trying to retrieve my email before I realized that VPN has come back on with start-up. I usually turn it off because of problems. Only had about a month but would not recommend it. A lot of time wasted and frustration blaming my ISP for problems caused by Kaspersky VPN. Not ready for prime time.More

The Bottom Line

PrivateVPN is a great multi-purpose VPN with many strengths, including competitive pricing plans, robust encryption for ultimate privacy and security, torrenting support, and a strict no-logs policy. The VPN is able to unblock Netflix and bypass censorship in China, and the user-friendly app interface is a pleasure to use. While there are some areas where this VPN still has room to improve, it doesn’t suffer from any major weaknesses. Comparison - Bottom Line - Default string (PrivateVPN, , PrivateVPN vs )
