LimeVPN Review & Test 2024: Keep in Mind Before Buying

Our Score: 7.7/10
Ranked 79th out of 306 VPNs

LimeVPN recently blocked many IP addresses to prevent abuse. For this reason, the website seems to be down for a lot of computers. If you cannot access LimeVPN's site, we recommend opting for our #1 recommended VPN, ExpressVPN, instead.

The good news is that, if you can get it to work, LimeVPN is quite adept at unblocking Netflix. I didn't have 100% success but I was able to unblock Netflix in a few different regions.

If you want a service that is 100% reliable though, you're better off with one of our top recommended VPNs like IPVanish or ExpressVPN. Both are optimized for streaming and provide reliable Netflix unblocking with no annoying downtime.

LimeVPN is a VPN provider based out of Hong Kong that offers a VPN service built upon software that they created. Their servers are located in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, Singapore, the United Kingdom, the United States, and India. They support unlimited P2P or torrent downloading on the servers based in Netherlands, Russia, and Singapore.

Writing their own custom server software allows them to offer more VPN protocols than other providers. The software supports PPTP, SSTP, L2TP, OpenVPN, and SoftEther protocols all with different levels of encryption allowing you to use more devices as securely as possible. The PPTP protocol uses the MPPE 128 bit cipher with or without compression and MS-CHAPv2 authentication. If you choose to use the L2TP protocol you get the standardized IPSec protocol with either the AES or 3DES encryption algorithm and a 256-bit key will be utilized for encryption. Using the OpenVPN protocol get you the AES cipher with 128-bit or the optional 256-bit encryption with a hash algorithm of 160bit SHA1 and a control channel secured with 2048 bit RSA and TLSv1/SSLv3 DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA. Their SSTP protocol offering provides military-grade 256 bit SSL key for data encryption and 2048 bit SSL/TLS certificates for authentication. The SSH Tunnel/Socks Proxy uses an AES cipher with 128-bit and optional 256-bit encryption. And finally, the SoftEther VPN protocol uses the AES256 cipher encryption algorithm to protect the VPN tunnel, and you can choose which cipher algorithms are used.

LimeVPN provides an easy to use app for Windows and Mac OS X that has an auto-reconnect feature, DNS leak protection, and a Kill Switch. Once you setup the software it is a simple as turning on your connection and the software does the rest. If you prefer to do it yourself, LimeVPN provides setup instruction for Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android, DD-WRT, and Linux.

Paying for your service is easy as they give you 15 different payment methods. They accept all major credit cards along with Google Wallet, Amazon, Bitcoin and several others. How much you’ll pay depends on your bandwidth needs as the packages are based upon shared or dedicated bandwidth. The LimeVPN Basic plan comes with dynamic IP addresses, no restrictions, no logging, and a shared download speed of 10 GBPS. You can connect from 2 different locations at once, and this plan is available worldwide.

The LimeVPN Pro plan includes a dedicated VPN with a static private IP, dedicated bandwidth of 1 GBPS, a dedicated private VPN node, 20+ Concurrent connections, and includes access to LimeVPN basic. The Pro plan is only available in the United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Canada, Russia, and Japan. Both plans come with 24/7 support.

The bottom line? LimeVPN delivers on security, but it's not quite up to scratch with its global reach. Consider a tried and trusted VPN like IPVanish or ExpressVPN. You'll not only have access to thousands of servers worldwide, but you'll be able to enjoy reliable Netflix unblocking with lightning-fast speeds and top-notch security.

This is a SCAM/Fraud - BE AWARE

No phone number to talk to someone, paid and never got my products YET, 7 days and waiting, a disputed transaction with a Credit card, if something is too good to be true, then it's NOT true, beware of these Scammers. Legit businesses will have a phone number and a way to contact them.

Waste of money

Truly one of the worst services I've ever received. Extremely slow, around 1mbps and it completely freezes up on torrents. Just avoid waste of time and money. Also some of the VPN protocols they use actually still reveal your IP address.

Advanced but Good

Setting up manually is a kind of hassle. However, the support team will be there to take remote access. Except for that part, everything is smooth for the money. The cheapest one I have tried in a long time. Can easily recommend the value for money.
