TorrentPrivacy VPN Review (2023) - Why It's NOT For Everyone

TorrentPrivacy is a VPN service provider located in the United Kingdom. They offer Proxy and VPN, protocols and encryption, and have servers in the Netherlands, United States, and Sweden. As the name might suggest, this VPN is focussed on torrenting. It can't unblock any streaming sites like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or BBC iPlayer.

If you're looking for a VPN for streaming, check out our guide to the best VPNs for Netflix where you can find a more suitable option.

While they can't quite run with the big dogs like ExpressVPN, TorrentPrivacy has done a decent job of at least keeping up.

This company sets up a tunnel between a remote server and your computer, which pushes your data out onto the internet. Your data is encrypted so that no one else is able to read it. None of your data will be held on their servers, meaning they do not keep logs, and they do not keep information as to where your connection is coming from. Once the program has been started, you can browse the internet and stream videos without having to worry about anyone monitoring your activities or recording what you’re doing. You just have to relax, use the internet as you normally would with this program running, and everything will be encrypted.

If you’re worried about being speed limited, they do not limit your speed, so you can stream and download movies and television all you like! However bandwidth can be limited, but the company has never had it happen. Their policy is that if you use more than 15% of all their users combined on their servers at any given time, they will send you an e-mail letting you know you’ve surpassed their limit. Remember, this hasn’t happened in the history of their company, so it’s highly unlikely it will happen to you. You may only use one connection at a time, but you can use this single connection on any of your devices.

Versions of their software are available for both Microsoft and MacOS, so you can use it on devices with these operating systems.

Their satisfaction guarantee is superbly unique in that if you don’t like their service, they will return your money in full, and they will also purchase the same subscription on any other BitTorrent Proxy service that you choose! There are very few companies that offer this, so it makes TorrentPrivacy rather unique.

If you’re looking for a company that’s experienced and knows what you’re doing, then you’ll want to go with TorrentPrivacy. They have over seven years of experience in the industry. In fact, they were one of the first companies that offered this type of service, so they definitely know what they’re doing.

You must register first in order to sign up for their service, but registration is free on their website. Once you are registered with just an e-mail address, you can choose your payment method and type. This company accepts PayPal, Bitcoin, and Credit Cards as payment types.

You can cancel at any time within the first thirty days of signing up, and they will refund your money, as well as pay for a comparable plan on another site.

If you'd like to try a more well-known and trusted VPN that covers torrenting, privacy, and can unblock sites like Netflix, ExpressVPN offers a money-back guarantee that eliminates any financial loss if you don't love it.

Unreliable servers. Fast when they work but often are down. Data breach!

Their servers are often down or down to a crawl at least. I was also recently informed that my (username) email and my password for their site ended up for sale on the dark web. So there was definitely a data breach that they did not inform their subscribers about. I switched to Nord, which is cheaper and more reliable. And hopefully more secure.

Works most of the time but support is poor

Their support services are non-existent. They don't answer my inquiries. When it works, it works fast. However, their torrent client is very limited, their "test your connection" service often doesn't work.

They keep charging me after multiple cancellation requests

I cancelled my service and was then charged 3 months later. Emailed them to cancel again, they said no problem and refunded me. This happened a second time, and now, several months later, they've just charged me again.
