UFO VPN is a new provider that offers a simple, user-friendly VPN service. Although the VPN offers a free plan, we will mainly be discussing the paid premium plan in this review. Premium users can take advantage of 200+ servers in 30+ countries.

Streaming - Does UFO VPN Work with Netflix?
Unfortunately, we were unable to stream Netflix with UFO VPN. Every server that we tested was caught by Netflix’s VPN ban. We were also unable to access other popular streaming sites, like Hulu, BBC iPlayer, and HBO Go with the VPN’s premium servers. If you're looking for a VPN for streaming, check out our best VPNs for streaming.
UFO VPN Speeds
One of the reasons that UFO VPN encourages users to upgrade to a premium plan is to gain access to their high-speed premium servers. We tested the VPN’s server speeds starting with a base speed of 70 Mbps.
Using UFO VPN’s Smart Location feature, we connected to the fastest available server in the US, which happened to be a New York server. We were very impressed to see that our average speed was 65 Mbps:

Our results across the ocean in Germany were also excellent:

Even across the world in Australia, we had an average download speed of over 15 Mbps:

While this is much lower than our starting speed, this is still an extremely fast result for how far away the server is.
Overall, UFO VPN passed our speed tests with flying colors. However, one thing to keep in mind is that new VPNs typically have an easier time achieving fast server speeds because there are fewer people crowding the servers. UFO VPN will have to work hard to maintain these results if their popularity grows.
Is UFO VPN Good for Torrenting?
Although UFO VPN does not explicitly ban torrenting on their servers, they also do not encourage it. We do not recommend this VPN for torrenting, due to the fact that they keep logs of user activity. This means that UFO VPN could be legally compelled to give out information about your torrenting activity.
Security - Is UFO VPN Safe?
Across all platforms, UFO VPN masks your IP address and protects your connection with secure encryption. We did not detect any leaks during our tests. However, UFO VPN does not have a kill switch, which means that your information could be vulnerable if your VPN connection suddenly drops. The VPN also does not include an ad blocker.
Does UFO VPN Keep Logs?
UFO VPN collects a lot of data about their customers, including usage logs. According to their privacy policy, UFO VPN collects the following information about users:
- Web pages you visit
- Time spent on each web page
- Access times and dates
- Your browser type
- Your IP address
- Your name and email
- Billing information
The provider also makes it clear in their privacy policy that they reserve the right to share the information they collect about you with third parties for various reasons.
If you are looking for a VPN for privacy and anonymity, this should make you nervous. Although UFO VPN is based outside of the jurisdiction of the 5/9/14-Eyes Alliance in Hong Kong, this is no guarantee that your information stays private. This means they could share your data and personal information with legal or government bodies if requested.
Price and Value for Money
Although there is no free trial, there is a free basic plan. The free plan restricts you to limited server locations and may include ads.
When you pay for UFO VPN’s premium plan, you get rid of the ads and gain access to their full network of 200+ servers.
There is a range of different-length paid subscription plans to choose from, each with the same features included.
You can pay for UFO VPN’s premium service using a credit card—they accept Visa and Mastercard—or with PayPal. iOS users can also pay through their iTunes account.
UFO VPN also has a 14-day money-back guarantee on all subscription plans.
Is UFO VPN Compatible with my Device?
UFO VPN is compatible with all major platforms. They offer dedicated apps for Windows, MacOS, Android, and iOS devices. The features are similar across platforms.
A UFO VPN subscription permits the connection of up to five devices concurrently.
UFO VPN Customer Service
We were not very impressed with UFO VPN’s customer service. The only way to get in touch with customer support if you have a question or concern is via email, and we never received a response when we reached out to the team with some questions.
While browsing the UFO VPN’s iTunes page, we also noticed a large number of positive reviews with the same paragraph or phrases copied in each one, which always makes us skeptical.
However, the UFO VPN website does include a Help Center that we found to be very clear and helpful.
User Experience
The UFO VPN MacOS app is very user-friendly. Even a first time VPN user should be able to get started with this VPN without a problem.
When you open the app, there are three ways to connect to a server. When you press the big power button, you will be connected to your most recent server location. Clicking Smart Location will automatically connect you to the fastest nearby server. Finally, Choose Location will direct you to a list of servers where you can manually select your location.

UFO VPN provides you with a list of recommended servers, in addition to their complete list. You also can save your favorite servers in the Favorites tab.
Although there is no way to customize your VPN experience other than choosing a server location, there are a few additional features within the app. The Help Center resources are available inside the app, so you can troubleshoot without navigating to the UFO VPN website.
There is also a speed test feature located within the app that allows you to easily check your connection speed.
Conclusion
UFO VPN impressed us with its fast speeds and user-friendly interface. However, this VPN has a long way to go if it wants to compare to top VPNs on the market.
Despite the positive results for speed, this VPN isn’t a good choice for streaming geo-restricted content. UFO VPN can't unblock Netflix or any other popular streaming services. To find a VPN that can bypass geoblocks, check out our best VPNs for Netflix.
We also would not recommend UFO VPN for torrenting or for users looking for total anonymity. This is due to the fact that it keeps logs on user activity and does not currently have an automatic kill switch.
If you are looking for a VPN that offers industry-leading security, complete anonymity, and the ability to bypass tough geo-restrictions, our top recommendation is ExpressVPN.

Installation & Apps
5.6
UFO VPN’s native apps are quick to install and simple enough for anyone to use. The minimalist design leaves no room for confusion.
When you open the UFO VPN MacOS app, you will see what looks like a big power button in the middle of the screen. Clicking this button will connect you to the most recent server location you have used. You can also click “Smart Location" to automatically connect to the fastest server near you.
Underneath, you can click “Choose Location" to manually select a server. You can view a list of all servers, recommended servers, and you can also save servers to your favorites list.
There aren’t many options for customization within the app, but there is a useful built-in help center.
