VyprVPN has apps for several platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and TVs and routers. If you want to run it on a different platform there are lots of setup tutorials available, including for Blackberry, DD-WRT, Boxee, and Synology NAS.
It’s pretty simple to install and use. Just download it, run the file and follow the instructions. Once it’s installed, open and press the big blue button on the screen that says Connect. Select the location of the server you want and you’re good to go. (Note that if you’re looking for speed, it’s best to connect to a server closest to your location.)
Another nice feature is that if you’re using public WiFi, it will automatically connect you to the fastest server available.
If you’re new to VPNs or simply don’t want to bother with a lot of steps, you can just use the default settings. But if you have more specific needs and preferences, you can choose among the protocols OpenVPN, L2TP/IPSec, PPTP, and Chameleon.
One complaint we’ve heard from our readers is that it can sometimes take a little while for the VPN to connect. Whether that’s a big deal is up to you to decide.
