Windscribe and Astrill VPN are both reputable VPN providers that offer over 300 servers, in 55 and 62 countries, respectively. With both services, you can expect to find strong encryption and support for multiple protocols like OpenVPN and IKEv2. Both VPNs effectively bypass most geo-restrictions, including unblocking Netflix. Windscribe and Astrill both allow P2P file sharing on their servers and offer a kill switch and tracking protection to keep your online activity private. However, these two providers differ in the features they provide. While Astrill VPN offers 24/7 customer support via live chat with real, human agents, you’ll have to contact Windscribe support via email or settle for bot-operated live chat. However, Windscribe offers a built-in firewall, which is absent in Astrill. Furthermore, Windscribe offers innovative features like time zone spoofing and ad blocking that Astrill does not provide. Let’s break it down category by category to see which of these providers offers a better service overall.

My team and I tested everything Windscribe offers, including speeds, streaming performance, security, and more. We also thoroughly investigated its privacy policy to see how it's improved since the breach. After our tests, I can confirm that Windscribe is safe and decent overall. It has strong security features and takes your privacy seriously. Its free version is one of the best available, but...

Customer for 5 years, Excellent VPN

I see a fair amount of misinformation about Windscribe's features, pricing, etc.. I have zero complain... ts. You can build a custom plan for as low as $3 monthly, and if you want pro you can usually buy a year's worth for about the same if you wait for one of their promotions. Promotions are usually around the holidays, and are about $29-30/year.More

    Windscribe = Unprofessional

If you are looking for a new synonym of the word unprofessional there you go you found it! Windscribe ... is not a company is just a joke that makes money from scamming people thinking they getting VPN services... Even after all these years they still do silly pranks on their supposedly customers by tricking them with a fake 1 year of free PRO service and days later telling it was just a joke as everything they do are for them... The only positive thing you can take from all of this is that if they can run a joke company and make money so can you... But will you still sleep at nights... That's up to you...More

Astrill VPN is one of the most popular VPNs to use in China. But it's also one of the most expensive VPNs available and doesn't have a money-back guarantee. With such a big investment, is it still the best VPN for China, and should you try it if you're located elsewhere? After my tests, I can confirm it's an excellent VPN for China but falls short in other areas. It offers slow speeds and clunky a...

Been using it for a long time.. but have to go

I have been using Astrill for more than 10 years. Never had a problem. A couple of times I used the ch... at for support and it was excellent. However this is probably going to be my last year. Reason .... price. With the virus crisis I am unemployed and can not afford it. They do not give any kind of discount and keep raising the price year after year. I am not in China so I suspend it, I do not need all those features.More

Don’t even think of it if you own Apple products

Worst VPN ever. Unreliable, unstable. It’s utterly expensive. Forget about streaming. Apple products a... re almost useless with it. Technical support team answers are pretty much like “Why don’t you turn it off and on?”. Please don’t waste your money as I did. They don’t even have a refund policy!More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

With unique and innovative features like time zone spoofing and a Split Personality function to prevent browser fingerprinting, Windscribe offers a very robust and reliable VPN service. However, Astrill VPN is also a reliable service with strong security features, and is capable of bypassing very tough geoblocks.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Windscribe offers servers in five locations for torrenting. It also offers unlimited bandwidth for P2P traffic and obfuscation features to allow you torrent without a trace. Astrill also supports torrenting and other P2P file-sharing activities, with leak protection to allow you torrent anonymously. It may not be ideal for you if you’re concerned about download speed, however, as its network is slower than Windscribe’s.

    Best VPN for Windows

If you need a Windows VPN app with a built-in firewall and numerous features including ad blocking, Windscribe is the ideal choice. Meanwhile, Astrill VPN offers a Windows app that includes an automatic kill switch and leak protection.

    Best VPN for Android

Windscribe for Android offers access to a free limited version, while the paid service features a very smooth interface and offers unlimited bandwidth and connections. On the other hand, Astrill VPN offers an Android app that allows unlimited server switching, leak protection, and access to 24/7 customer support.

    Best VPN for Mac

With a dedicated app that features time zone spoofing, ad blocking, 256-bit encryption, and tracking protection, Windscribe is our choice as the better VPN for MacOS. Astrill VPN’s dedicated MacOS app offers attractive features, however, such as split tunneling, DNS/IP leak protection, and access to the provider’s entire network of servers.

    Best VPN for iOS

Windscribe supports an unlimited number of simultaneous device connections and provides a dedicated iOS app with tracking and wi-fi protection, making it an ideal choice for users of iOS devices. Astrill also has an iOS app with a very user-friendly design, strong encryption, and wi-fi protection.

    Best VPN for USA

Windscribe’s dedicated Windflix servers deliver great speeds and allow you to bypass geoblocks of top US streaming platforms, including Netflix. Astrill VPN also has US servers dedicated to unblocking Netflix and other heavily restricted American websites from any location worldwide.

    The Bottom Line

While both providers offer really good services, Windscribe’s innovative approach, provision of a limited free version, and overall variety of features make it an exceptional VPN provider and the winner of this comparison. Its servers are also faster than Astrill’s, allowing you to stream without buffering. Although Astrill VPN offers legitimate 24/7 live support, which is unavailable with Windscribe, it comes up short in terms of features, speed, and pricing. With a few enhancements, Astrill VPN could reach the upper level of VPNs, but at this point in time, Windscribe offers both a more user-friendly and a more budget-friendly service than.
