VyprVPN, HMA, and VPN Unlimited are high-quality VPNs that use military-grade encryption and various security protocols to keep you safe online.

VyprVPN is one of the top-performing VPNs for countries like China, mainly thanks to its proprietary Chameleon protocol. Chameleon scrambles your data, making it harder to be detected and blocked by streaming sites or firewalls.

VPN Unlimited also works in China thanks to its KeepSolid Wise protocol. Additionally, it works with most major streaming services. This is also one of the few VPNs that offer a lifetime subscription.

Unlike its competitors, HMA doesn’t possess any obfuscation tool. However, its strength lies in its global server network — it covers 210 countries and many of them are places where most VPNs don't offer any servers. The VPN is also great for accessing most major streaming services.

VyprVPN has been top-class for years. It’s known for its powerful security features, fast speeds, and compatibility with Mac, Android, iOS, and more. But recently, I've seen many people claim that the service has gaps in its online protection. So, I carried out in-depth tests to see if VyprVPN is safe. I began by testing its security features and deep diving into its privacy policy. I also put ...

    Chameleon is Amazing

I tried CyberGhost, Express, and Nord VPN over the last month. None of these were able to get by my in... stitution's Fortigate Firewall doing Deep Packet Inspection scanning. They are using some sort of Obfuscation technique but they were not good enough. I read about VyprVpn's Chameleon protocol. YES... It worked !!!! I do have to sacrifice speed but at least I get outside access. When I am out of that environment, I switch back to Wireguard and the speed increases 300%. The price is great, their Live chat was great when I questioned their own DNS servers. They were easy to reach with the chat and took the time to explain how their DNS servers worked. I highly recommend VyprVPN !!!More

    I don't have time to...

The company behind VyprVPN, Goldenfrog claims to have taken steps to improve its reliability, security... , and quality of service. I'm not sure when they said this, however, in 2022, reliability and QoS are going downhill quickly. I've been using Vypr for over a year with the software installed and executing on each PC. Everything worked relatively well until about three months ago when I began experiencing frequent and intermittent connectivity issues. Thinking that my 10-year-old router might be the cause, I installed a new TPLink router with all the latest technology After many hours of side-by-side testing with two computers on the same LAN, I have observed that a PC with the VPN turned off had 100% connectivity while a PC using Vypr had the issues. I have adjusted Vypr to use various protocols and TAP adaptors with no success in improving the QoS. As such, I'm convinced that my PCs and LAN are operating as they should. Further, from the beginning, I configured Vypr to always connect to a server in Canada. Every time I boot my PC I use "whatismyip.com" to make sure that the PC is operating through the Vypr. About half the time it connects to a server in the USA and yet the software says that it is connected to Canada. I use a couple of business online services with geolocation services that require a Canada connection so I also know when Vypr connects to the USA when I am blocked from logging in to one of the business services. IT's really annoying when the software says it's connected to Canada and yet it is not. The biggest annoyance is that I now find I have to check my external IP every time I boot a device. Why should I have to do this? I've used other VPNs and they just worked all the time. I never had to keep checking them to make sure they are working correctly. I've also done security testing to make sure there are no IP or DNS leaks or any other issues and it appears that Vypr lives up to its reputation of being secure. If the service would operate consistently so that I don't have to always check it or disconnect and reconnect to force a Canada server, I could give Vypr 5 stars. Overall it's not a bad service, however, if the QoS continues to degrade, I may be forced to go back to one of the other VPNs that I've used. I don't have time to "handhold" VyprVPN.More

VPN Unlimited comes across as a very capable VPN, with its main focus being unblocking multiple streaming sites. I wanted to see if it delivered on this promise, and to test whether its security, privacy, and customer service stacks up against the best VPNs in the industry. While it certainly delivered on some of its assertions, unfortunately, it fell short in some essential areas. It unblocke...

    Very Happy with Lifetime license

I picked up a lifetime license and honestly, it's been "solid". It delivers at good speeds, no leaks ... so far have been detected. Offers a wide range of streaming options & Protocols. I've contacted customer service several times and received replies quickly. The servers for P2p are limited to three locations but are still very functional. I'd appreciate a public audit of how secure the service is but it seems none of this info is published for customers, or potential customers to view.More

HMA (formerly HideMyAss) is a relatively cheap VPN that claims to offer more server locations than anyone else. However, it has faced some serious controversies in the past. Is it a VPN that can keep you safe and anonymous online? To find out, I performed extensive tests on all its features and explored its updated privacy policy. I also checked out several connection issues customers have rep...

    Excellent value for money!

First, it's a full VPN. Very intuitive and easy app. Lots of connection options and without much loss ... of speed. The official website has the payment method in my local currency, with a localized value and thus leaving a fair value through the VPN. Thank VPNMentor for the product recommendation and targeted discount.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

VyprVPN leads with overall great performance, advanced security features, stable connection speeds, privacy-friendly headquarters, and sleek apps. HMA is the most affordable of the three but allows fewer simultaneous device connections. VPN Unlimited offers its own proprietary protocol like VyprVPN but its speeds are not as consistent.

    Best VPN for Torrents

VyprVPN is the best and the most reliable choice for torrenting. It welcomes torrenting on all its servers, while VPN Unlimited and HMA offer specific dedicated P2P servers. However, VyprVPN has privacy-friendly headquarters (in Switzerland) and faster speeds than its two competitors that are based inside of the Five Alliance, in the US and the UK.

    Best VPN for Windows

The three VPNs come with easy-to-use Windows apps but VPN Unlimited takes the first place in this category by a small margin. HMA has only the OpenVPN protocol available, whereas VyprVPN and VPN Unlimited include OpenVPN, WireGuard, IKEv2, and their own proprietary protocols, Chameleon and KeepSolid Wise, respectively. VPN Unlimited offers streaming and torrenting servers, which is something that Vypr doesn't. But Vypr's speeds are better overall.

    Best VPN for Android

A slight advantage is given to HMA because it has some additional features on Android that the other two VPNs don't, like the IP Shuffle. It also has 2 kill switches, which is unique (one is app-based and the other is system-wide). Similar to VPN Unlimited, HMA also offers streaming and P2P servers. VyprVPN's pro is that it offers its Chameleon protocol on Android too, which is quite secure and helps in avoiding VPN detection.

    Best VPN for Mac

All three VPNs offer intuitive macOS apps. VyprVPN's is the simplest one and offers the basics, plus its Chameleon protocol, which gives it a lot of advantage. However, if you're more into streaming rather than simplicity, VPN Unlimited and HMA offer streaming-optimized servers and some P2P ones too. But even without these dedicated servers, VyprVPN has great unblocking capabilities and offers the best speeds out of the three VPNs, so that's why it's the winner of this category.

    Best VPN for iOS

The battle is close between VyprVPN and VPN Unlimited, followed by HMA. VPN Unlimited is the only one that offers a kill switch on iOS (with the IKEv2 protocol) and also comes with streaming-optimized servers, so it's better than Vypr and HMA in that regard. HMA doesn't offer the WireGuard protocol like its two competitors but still has the basics. All three iOS apps are very user-friendly, and you don’t need a technical background to set them up.

    Best VPN for USA

Among these three providers, VyprVPN stands out as the most reliable one for the US with a decent number of servers. Although it has a smaller server network than HMA, it unblocks all major streaming platforms. Additionally, it’s based outside the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing alliance as opposed to HMA and VPN Unlimited which are headquartered in the UK and the US, respectively. VPN Unlimited also has good unblocking capabilities but its speeds can be inconsistent.

    The Bottom Line

All three VPNs have something unique to offer to the table but VyprVPN stands out slightly above its competitors. It comes with its proprietary Chameleon protocol in addition to OpenVPN, WireGuard, and IKEv2, which are all fast and secure. It's also based in Switzerland (outside of the Five Eyes Alliance), making it good for data privacy. Its two competitors aren't based in privacy-friendly countries but they still come with a no-logs policy like Vypr. HMA and VPN Unlimited offer streaming and torrenting servers, which gives them a fair advantage but VyprVPN has reliable unblocking capabilities even without dedicated servers.
