PIA and VPNSecure both fall within the cheap price range for quality VPNs, though PIA is cheaper. Both VPNs also offer a 7-day money-back guarantee and accept Bitcoin. However, VPNSecure also offers a one-month free trial. Based in the US and Australia, respectively, PIA and VPNSecure don’t keep logs but are still governed by the data retention laws of their countries. To protect your privacy, both VPNs rely on strong AES 256-bit encryption, but VPNSecure has more options, including a proxy extension for Chrome. VPNSecure’s best feature is “Stealth VPN,” which helps it to bypass tough restrictions on websites like Netflix and to break through the Great Firewall of China, two things that PIA fails to do.

PIA has 3,000+servers in 30+ countries, while VPNSecure has just 80+ servers in 40+ countries. Yet despite its limited server network, VPNSecure offers higher speeds than PIA for streaming, thanks to its SmartDNS service. PIA and VPNSecure both offer dedicated IPs, but PIA is more devoted to this service. P2P is supported by both VPNs, and both offer the security of a kill switch. You’ll get user-friendly apps for all platforms (including Linux) with either provider, along with five simultaneous connections. However, VPNSecure provides more responsive customer support through live chat, which isn’t available with PIA.

And the winner is…

Private Internet Access has one of the cheapest VPN subscriptions available — you can sign up for as little as $2.19/month. With such a low price, I wondered whether PIA could really stand out against its higher-priced competitors. It’s been around for 10+ years, so it could be one of the best-value VPNs out there. I decided to find out just how good it is by looking into the company’s lo...

Best VPN I have used

I have been using PIA for three years and I have been very pleased. My internet connection is 270MB up...  and 270MB down. I get on average 250MB up and 250MB down. I have found that turning on the wire guard speeds up my internet speed by 50mb.More

I was not happy with them

The use of PIA is detected by a lot of websites and you get constantly banned. I try to contact them ... but the contact form doesn't work. Needless to say, if the form doesn't work you can't claim your 30 days money-back guarantee. So I lost my money have no sense with the product and can't do anything.More

VPNSecure looks good on paper, but does it deliver? Finding a VPN that performs well in all fields isn’t an easy task. I took it for a test run to see whether this provider can keep you as secure as its name implies.  Founded back in 2010 in Sydney, NSW, I found VPN Secure offers solid security features with a seemingly airtight no-log policy. According to its customer support, it sh...

Great VPN

I like it. Have had it for 3 years. I bought the lifetime subscription when that was around because Sp... ectrum sent me a letter warning me about "illegal activities" when I used torrent. The speed is actually pretty good because I could play CSGO and watch Youtube without lag or buffer. Overall I'd recommend this VPN.More

Best VPNs by category

VPNSecure offers more options and better overall performance than PIA, but PIA is more wallet-friendly.

Both VPNs support torrenting with unlimited bandwidth on specific servers, but VPNSecure allows torrenting on more servers and at faster speeds. If you’re looking for a cheaper torrenting deal, however, PIA is the one for you.

PIA and SecureVPN tie in this category, with both offering polished and customizable apps for Windows. VPNSecure, however, delivers better speeds for streaming.

VPNSecure’s Android app is slightly more limited than PIA’s, as it doesn’t include a kill switch. However, it’s equally lightweight and doesn’t slow down your device.

PIA has a more attractive software design for Mac, with all the VPN’s features included, but VPNSecure offers unlimited server switching, which users always like.

VPNSecure doesn’t have a kill switch within its app, but that shortcoming doesn’t compromise your encryption or speed. PIA’s iOS app, however, has a full suite of security features including a kill switch.

Despite its relatively small server network, VPNSecure can easily bypass geo-restrictions in the US and get you access to Netflix and Hulu, not to mention high-speed streaming. PIA, though US-based, has problems with streaming and overcoming geoblocks.

The Bottom Line

Although PIA delivers reliable performance and excellent security features at cheaper prices, VPNSecure wins this comparison by providing the same features as PIA and many more. Its ability to overcome geo-restrictions in tough regions like the US with a smaller number of servers deserves a pat on the shoulder. Moreover, it’s faster than PIA, which makes it a better choice for streaming and torrenting in addition to secure browsing. VPNSecure also has more positive user testimonials than PIA. On the other hand, if you’re looking for the very best VPNs, there are better options than either of these providers, and if you check out our hottest VPN deals, you’ll get them for far cheaper prices than you would expect!
