TunnelBear is one of the most beginner-friendly VPNs, offering a solid free version. Despite its adorable design, it’s also renowned for its security and privacy features. But can you truly rely on this lighthearted VPN to protect you the way the best providers can? After extensive tests, I can confirm that TunnelBear is an excellent VPN with great potential. It’s straightforward to use, d...

    DANGEROUS for CANADIANS

I live in the GTA, everything was fine "until" I installed TunnelBear on one of my 7 devices, now I ca... n no longer watch any USA TV stations on line on any of my other 6 devices, this company is scum, they hid something in there that disabled all my other devices unless I buy their VPN, well, not going to buy their garbage, can't believe how much it slowed my device, I would rather wipe all my drives than give TunnelBear one cent!More

VPN Gate is an academic research project from Tsukuba University in Japan that anyone can connect to for free. It was designed to help students learn more about VPNs and uses volunteers' IPs as servers without data limits. After extensive testing, I cannot recommend this VPN. It’s not safe since it lacks essential security features like a kill switch. VPN Gate also collects a large amount of ...

The Wizards of VPN at Play

Works great for me, and I'm a complete novice. I installed VPNGate using SoftEther as it's client. T... he fact that it is an ongoing research project, hence free, is not a deterrent to me because it serves my specific needs well. If the developers/researchers on the VPNgate/Softether project should decide to discontinue the projects (they are both separate), then you'll always have the option to pay for a commercial VPN provider. I appreciate the time and effort the developers/researchers are putting into the development of these applications and the fact that they allow the international public-at-large access to it. Thank you for a great product.More

    Was good

It will no longer get past amazon prime Japan and Netflix Japan. All DNS hostnames end with opengw.net...  which is now easily blocked as of November 2021. I do not know why they did this but it is very disappointing.More

    The Bottom Line

Final Verdict — Excellent Overall Service With a Few Minor Flaws TunnelBear offers a simple, no-hassle service with excellent speeds, a strict no-logs policy, and robust security features. You can use both its free and paid version on unlimited devices simultaneously. It has servers all around the world, so it’s easy to find a secure server for gaming, torrenting, or browsing near you. There are a couple of downsides, though. Unlike most of its competitors, TunnelBear doesn’t have 24/7 live chat support or a reliable money-back guarantee. In a nutshell, TunnelBear is a great beginner VPN, but it might not be the best option for experienced users due to its lack of customization options. In any case, there’s a free version you can use to test the VPN before committing to a paid subscription.
