How To Watch F1 Live From Anywhere in 2024

Kelvin Kiogora Updated on 25th July 2024 Fact-checked by Eric Raue Cybersecurity Researcher

Some platforms, like RTBF and ServusTV, stream all F1 races live for free. Others, like YouTube TV, provide comprehensive ESPN coverage and can be tested using a free trial. However, all the best F1 streaming sites are geo-restricted to their respective countries.

With a VPN, it's possible to watch Formula 1 from anywhere without buffering since it provides servers worldwide. A VPN also encrypts your connection to secure your data. So ISPs can't throttle your speed, and hackers can't steal your data since no one can see your real IP address or what you're doing online.

After we tested 47 VPNs, I recommend ExpressVPN for live-streaming the F1 Grand Prix in HD. Its impressive speeds mean you won’t miss a moment, from the first “lights out” to all the pit stops and overtakes to the checkered flag. Plus, it's easy to use on all major devices and has a 30-day money-back guarantee. You can try ExpressVPN without financial risk. Editors' Note: Transparency is one of our core values at vpnMentor, so you should know we are in the same ownership group as ExpressVPN. However, this does not affect our review process.

Quick Guide: How To Stream F1 Live With a VPN in 3 Easy Steps

  1. Download a VPN. I recommend ExpressVPN as its fast worldwide servers let you watch F1 races without buffering, while keeping your data secure. You can try it risk-free with its 30-day money-back guarantee.
  2. Connect to a server. The closer a server is to you, the faster your streaming speeds will be.
  3. Start streaming. Open your favorite F1 streaming platform or app, like RBTF or YouTube TV, and watch the Grand Prix securely and in HD.
Editor’s Note. The listed VPNs maintain strict no-logging policies to protect your online anonymity. When using a VPN, it is your responsibility to adhere to all relevant rules and guidelines, including those of your country and the websites you visit. How To Watch F1 Races Free From Anywhere

There are a few free F1 streaming websites. However, most only broadcast full races after a short delay or have the rights for only their home Grand Prix. Many other streaming services show F1 live, but require a paid subscription.

RTBF offers comprehensive free coverage of every Formula 1 Grand Prix, including free practice, qualifying, sprints, highlights, and replays. However, as a national free-to-air broadcasting service, RTBF is only available for viewers in Belgium and with French commentary. Using a VPN, it's possible to get a Belgian IP and stream F1 on RTBF securely from anywhere.

1. Connect to a VPN Server

Download the VPN app on your preferred streaming device. Once the app is installed, launch it and connect to a server. To watch F1 without buffering, you should choose one of the fastest VPNs for streaming. That’s why ExpressVPN is my top choice; not only does it have servers worldwide, but it provided the best speeds for streaming F1 uninterrupted. ExpressVPN also has native smart TV apps to stream races live on your big screen.

2. Go to RTBF

Go to the RTBF website. Although it’s completely free, you need an account and be logged in to view its Formula 1 content.

3. Create a Free Account

You can sign in through Google or Facebook or create an account by providing a few details. This includes an email, password, first and last names, and postal code. Click the Register button at the bottom of the page to complete the process.

Where Can I Watch F1 Live Online?

Formula 1 has broadcasting deals with terrestrial TV and online streaming services worldwide. Below is a table showing the F1 streaming platforms available in different countries. In the US, ESPN has exclusive broadcasting rights to offer Sky Sports’ coverage of the event, with ESPN Deportes offering Spanish-language commentary.

Most streaming services offer straightforward coverage of the event, with live broadcasts of all races. Only F1 TV Pro and Sky Sports TV packages offer access to additional content, like live onboard cameras, a Pit Lane channel, Driver Tracker, and Live Timing channels.
