CyberGhost and PrivateVPN are two top-class VPN providers that are similar in many ways. A 30-day money-back guarantee can be expected from both VPNs, along with unlimited bandwidth and consistently high speed. If you need to download torrents or access Netflix and the BBC iPlayer from anywhere in the world, you can certainly rely on either of these VPNs. Both also safeguard your privacy with a strict no-logs policy and a kill switch to prevent unprotected connections.

Closer inspection reveals slight differences between these two providers, however. While CyberGhost permits up to seven simultaneous connections, PrivateVPN limits users to six devices per account. CyberGhost offers 256-bit encryption on all its apps, whereas PrivateVPN uses 2048-bit military-grade encryption. And although these two VPN’s server networks span about the same number of countries (60+ for CyberGhost and 56 for PrivateVPN), CyberGhost offers far greater choice, with over 2,700 servers compared to only about 100 for PrivateVPN.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.03/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

    Simple To Use

Great interface and is very intuitive. Many locations with reasonably fast speeds. There are a lot of ... essential features I like as well. Wireguard, Wifi Protect, Etc. I took out the 2-year plan at a fair discount so I can say that, given the price, it's a decent balance of quantity and quality.More

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

PrivateVPN advertises itself as one of the best VPNs for streaming at a low price. It also claims to have great torrenting support, strong security features, and a true no-logs policy. But PrivateVPN is a small company, so can it compete with the biggest VPNs? To learn the answer, I tested out everything it offers. My global team and I found out if it really lets you stream securely in the bes...

    Works Great for many years.

I've been using their service for a great many years, and I'm very pleased indeed. Great service and s... upport, and more than enough speed for covering my needs. As long as they have coverage in countries I need to connect to, the number of servers in total is less relevant, as long as the servers they Do have provide enough speeds. They also support Wireguard, which is seldom mentioned in these reviews, probably since they don't have it in their native app, but they do and it's rock solid using that with their provided config files, and that in and of itself also increases the connection speeds, at least for me. All in all, they provide anything and all I want from a VPN provider. What others see as a downside, split tunneling and such, I see as a strength. I want my VPN provider to stick their nose in my business as little as possible, but rather provide a "clean VPN line" and then let Me decide what to do with my routing table. In short, they're Great, for my needs, but others will have to test and make up their own minds. :-DMore

    Been There

I've been using PrivateVPN for a year. The main reason was due to good price. It's slow, on certain ho... urs of the day you can't watch video smoothly. They have down time or some other problem frequently and it take ages to fix it. Customer support are so poor that my mum without IT knowledge could probably do a better job. Now I switched to another one and feelings for PrivateVPN is much worse because I have something to compare withMore

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Although both VPNs provide very similar services, CyberGhost’s pricing, larger network of servers, and more user-friendly apps put it on a slightly higher tier than PrivateVPN. PrivateVPN also offers a reliable VPN service, however, with many features and exceptional customer support.

    Best VPN for Torrents

CyberGhost is very effective for torrenting, as it features dedicated high speed torrenting servers coupled with unlimited bandwidth for downloads. Meanwhile, PrivateVPN also supports torrenting on its UK servers and keeps zero activity logs.

    Best VPN for Windows

CyberGhost offers a secure Windows app with automatic malware protection and a feature that compresses your traffic to save you money on ISP or web service data costs. PrivateVPN, on the other hand, competes with a dedicated Windows app featuring IPv6 Leak Protection and 2048-bit encryption.

    Best VPN for Android

CyberGhost for Android is very user-friendly and features DNS/IP leak protection for all-around security. PrivateVPN has an Android app that’s equally secure but far less user-friendly, an important consideration if you’re relatively new to VPNs.

    Best VPN for Mac

CyberGhost’s dedicated MacOS app includes a built-in ad blocker, tracking protection, and a unique feature that keeps you safe by forcing your device to connect to the https version of websites whenever they’re available. Meanwhile, PrivateVPN has its own MacOS app that supports the OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, IKEv2, and IPSec VPN protocols.

    Best VPN for iOS

CyberGhost’s iOS app is beautifully designed, includes WiFi protection and allows users test run the service with a 7-day free trial. PrivateVPN for iOS is less user-friendly but includes a stealth VPN feature that allows it bypass even the toughest geoblocks quietly.

    Best VPN for USA

CyberGhost has hundreds of US servers capable of seamlessly accessing US content including Netflix and Hulu from any location. It’s also more stable when streaming HD content from Netflix. Meanwhile, PrivateVPN has three out of its nine US servers optimized for streaming Netflix and accessing other geoblocked US content from anywhere worldwide.

    The Bottom Line

Although these VPNs compete neck and neck, CyberGhost emerges as the outright winner of this comparison by offering just a little more in every category. It provides a service that is far easier to use across all platforms at a more affordable price, while thoroughly protecting your activity online. Its apps are beautifully designed and feature-packed to suit beginners and technically advanced users alike. For unblocking Netflix and similar websites, CyberGhost has more dedicated servers, making it the ideal choice for reliable streaming performance.
