While it's clear to see that all of these VPNs have the highest rankings, there are some differences. In terms of simultaneous connections, NordVPN is on top with 6 simultaneous connections while VyprVPN gets the bottom with 2 concurrent connections. All three VPNs have high security, but VyprVPN has the added VyprVPN Cloud for extra security measures. ExpressVPN is the more expensive of the three, but they are the best when it comes to streaming with Netflix and speeds, although NordVPN should provide a great experience for most users as well. VyprVPN has many payment methods, but not Bitcoin, so it’s less anonymous than the other two and NordVPN doesn’t have AliPay, so in terms of secure payments ExpressVPN comes out stronger.

ExpressVPN is one of the safest, fastest VPNs around, but the one drawback has always been the price. It often offers discounts that make it more affordable, but there are other decent VPNs offering similar security features for much cheaper. So, do you really need to pay so much for a VPN as good as ExpressVPN? To find the answer, I performed extensive tests on desktop and mobile devices run...

It’s not often that a VPN has cheap prices coupled with an excellent set of features. Yet, when my team and I looked at what NordVPN has to offer, this is exactly what we found. It offers a huge global network of servers, unblocks hundreds of streaming platforms, and has iron-clad security and privacy features — and you can get it all for just $3.71/month. I had to wonder what the catch was. ...

Best documentation was easy to understand

I came from Surfshark which never worked correctly. I had to run from the browser extension with supp... ort telling me it was my network that was causing the problem. That was rubbish. I set Nord up and had it running in a short time from the documentation. I only had to ask support about accessing more servers than just the one I saw. Great product.More

Average service, some nice features, rubbish support

Basic features work really well. Basically. I liked the feature that when Nord crashes (as it seems to...  do monthly) it will shut other apps so they aren't exposed. My subscription is based in Australia. Found downloads peak at about 1-1.5Mb/s, which is ok as long as you aren't playing online games. Don't go for the frills (though hard not to when they gamify them). I canceled my subscription because I added the Kill switch and then MFA. Nek Minnit I can't even log in. No way to remove the Kill switch without logging in. Uninstalled, reinstalled no joy. Went to the help page, and it redirected me to up my subscription as the only solution. No chatbot where I am. and I don't have an email app so couldn't email help. After a couple of hours of mucking around. Gave up and went to a competitor. Note: if I hadn't played with the security settings, I would still be with Nord. But if I can't log in, it's a dead service to me.More

VyprVPN is a popular VPN service created by Switzerland-based Golden Frog. This VPN has worked hard to establish itself as a trusted provider and advocate of internet privacy. The provider has also been taking steps to improve its reliability, security, and quality of service based on customer requests. However, does VyprVPN really make the cut? Here's a preview: when it comes to privacy, geobl...

Chameleon is Amazing

I tried CyberGhost, Express, and Nord VPN over the last month. None of these were able to get by my in... stitution's Fortigate Firewall doing Deep Packet Inspection scanning. They are using some sort of Obfuscation technique but they were not good enough. I read about VyprVpn's Chameleon protocol. YES... It worked !!!! I do have to sacrifice speed but at least I get outside access. When I am out of that environment, I switch back to Wireguard and the speed increases 300%. The price is great, their Live chat was great when I questioned their own DNS servers. They were easy to reach with the chat and took the time to explain how their DNS servers worked. I highly recommend VyprVPN !!!More

I don't have time to...

The company behind VyprVPN, Goldenfrog claims to have taken steps to improve its reliability, security... , and quality of service. I'm not sure when they said this, however, in 2022, reliability and QoS are going downhill quickly. I've been using Vypr for over a year with the software installed and executing on each PC. Everything worked relatively well until about three months ago when I began experiencing frequent and intermittent connectivity issues. Thinking that my 10-year-old router might be the cause, I installed a new TPLink router with all the latest technology After many hours of side-by-side testing with two computers on the same LAN, I have observed that a PC with the VPN turned off had 100% connectivity while a PC using Vypr had the issues. I have adjusted Vypr to use various protocols and TAP adaptors with no success in improving the QoS. As such, I'm convinced that my PCs and LAN are operating as they should. Further, from the beginning, I configured Vypr to always connect to a server in Canada. Every time I boot my PC I use "whatismyip.com" to make sure that the PC is operating through the Vypr. About half the time it connects to a server in the USA and yet the software says that it is connected to Canada. I use a couple of business online services with geolocation services that require a Canada connection so I also know when Vypr connects to the USA when I am blocked from logging in to one of the business services. IT's really annoying when the software says it's connected to Canada and yet it is not. The biggest annoyance is that I now find I have to check my external IP every time I boot a device. Why should I have to do this? I've used other VPNs and they just worked all the time. I never had to keep checking them to make sure they are working correctly. I've also done security testing to make sure there are no IP or DNS leaks or any other issues and it appears that Vypr lives up to its reputation of being secure. If the service would operate consistently so that I don't have to always check it or disconnect and reconnect to force a Canada server, I could give Vypr 5 stars. Overall it's not a bad service, however, if the QoS continues to degrade, I may be forced to go back to one of the other VPNs that I've used. I don't have time to "handhold" VyprVPN.More

Best VPNs by category

ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and VyprVPN are three of the biggest names in the VPN world, and each of them has unique features and capabilities. ExpressVPN is known for its unbeatable connection speeds, NordVPN offers industry-leading network security with Double VPN, and VyprVPN offers its unique Chameleon protocol for bypassing tough firewalls. This is a closely contested battle of heavyweights, but based on overall performance and reliability, ExpressVPN takes a slight lead.

Both ExpressVPN and VyprVPN support torrenting on all their servers, while NordVPN allows P2P activities on specific servers dedicated and optimized for the purpose. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that NordVPN offers fewer servers for torrenting, since NordVPN has more than twice as many servers as ExpressVPN and seven times as many as VyprVPN. Since ExpressVPN’s connection speeds are higher than those of the other two providers, it’s our top choice for torrenting.

All three providers have user-friendly apps for Windows that are filled with features. ExpressVPN has the fastest connections, NordVPN makes streaming geo-restricted content one-click easy with its SmartPlay feature, and VyprVPN offers the added security of a provider-owned server network. Based on speed and overall capabilities, we would place ExpressVPN slightly ahead of NordVPN, with VyprVPN following closely in third place.

The Android apps for all three providers are very similar in terms of features and ease of use. The only major difference between the user interfaces is that when selecting a server with ExpressVPN or VyprVPN, you choose from a list. NordVPN's clickable map allows you to actually see server locations, a plus if you are a visual thinker. However, with its unmatched speed, ExpressVPN for Android tops the list.

The MacOS apps from all three providers are as convenient as their Windows apps. They include the same advanced features and support the same protocols. All three apps are easy to install, use, and navigate. What separates them a little is performance, particularly connection speeds and stability. Although all three VPNs are fast and ultra-reliable, ExpressVPN has higher download speeds and slightly more stable connections.

It’s not easy to find a secure, reliable VPN for your iOS device, since many VPN providers do not offer iOS clients. However, all three of these providers have user-friendly apps for iOS that are rich in features and advanced security capabilities. Once again, this was a very tough competition, but NordVPN’s iOS app proved to be the most reliable of the three due to its two-layered encryption and user-focused features. ExpressVPN comes in right behind NordVPN in this category, with VyprVPN only a half step back in third place.

NordVPN operates the largest US server network among these providers (and among almost all VPNs, actually), with 1,900+ US-based servers. ExpressVPN operates high-volume, ultra-fast servers in 32 US locations, while VyprVPN offers 8 server locations within the US. NordVPN’s vast network and SmartPlay feature give it an advantage when it comes to bypassing geo-blocks on American websites and streaming content. However, ExpressVPN and VyprVPN also reliably unblock most US streaming services, and ExpressVPN offers the fastest connections.

The Bottom Line

VyprVPN, ExpressVPN, and NordVPN are ideal for all of your basic needs. In the extensive review we did, they all got great scores in all fields, and we can’t deny the usage for any of them. While Express costs a bit more per month, it does provide the best experience, and will most likely work better than all three in China. Vypr came out third place, but the Chameleon technology does give it a small boost. Express is the winner here, but not by a lot; both NordVPN and VyprVPN are great as well.
