Both PureVPN and PrivateVPN offer secure and cost-effective VPN services with plenty of features. PureVPN has the greater number of servers and server locations, while PrivateVPN has better speeds, maintains a strict no-logging policy, and can be used on more devices simultaneously. Both offer great security features including your choice of tunneling protocols, strong encryption, and a kill switch. Neither have bandwidth or downloading limits, and both can access geoblocked content and streaming sites, including Netflix. Additionally, both also offer anonymous payment options, live chat customer service, and easy-to-install native apps. However, PureVPN allows for greater customization, with a wider range of connection and security options, including tailored connection modes, split tunneling, and leak protection. PrivateVPN has longer waiting times on its live chat channel and agents aren’t always available, whereas PureVPN’s support team responds 24/7. However, when PrivateVPN’s staff does respond, they are very helpful and knowledgeable.

PrivateVPN is a growing provider that claims to be a great VPN for security and privacy, as the name implies. Instead of offering a long list of unique features, this VPN sells itself as a simple but high-performing service. We put PrivateVPN through a series of tests to find out how it performs in each category and whether it will truly keep you safe and private. PrivateVPN’s strength...

Comparatively Slow, but otherwise good product

It allowed my Plex to be accessed from outside of my network. That's a plus. It was much cheaper t... han the service I was already using (Express VPN). Another plus. Although everyone talks about how this service has fewer access points, they had enough close to me to not be a problem. Yay! And that may be enough for you. Here's my problem with this service: Baseline Internet Test Speed for download, NO VPN (server in Dallas): 446.2 Mbps Express VPN Internet Test Speed for download (server in Dallas): 292.6 Mbps PrivateVPN Internet Test Speed for download (server in Dallas): 53.3 Mbps Other locations were even worse (Atlanta: 50.1 Mbps, Phoenix: 46.0 Mbps) Basically, while using PrivateVPN, I'm wasting my money on a high-speed bandwidth service. That's the same speed I was getting when I only had 100 Mbps service. Express VPN did not support IP pass-through, which broke my Plex access, so it's not even an option for me anymore. But I'm going to keep looking for another service with a better download speed than this one.More

PureVPN assisted the FBI by providing them with a potential cybercriminal’s data back in 2017, making its customers doubt its privacy procedures. Since then, the company has spent a great deal of time making improvements to its service. I wanted to test whether the improvements have made as much of a difference as I hoped. Overall, I was seriously impressed with PureVPN’s test results. I h...

An excellent value, all things considered

While they will absolutely throttle p2p in most servers, it's easy to find and log into the p2p server... s. They responded promptly when I had questions (although once it was basically to say "sorry, tough luck"). Overall though, I think I paid something like $20 for a year's subscription - I really can't complain. I'm sold on the service, although I think the fact that it's based out of HK is a bit spooky. 9/10More

Below par, look elsewhere

Pricewise, it is reasonable. For the past three years, I have had many problems with connecting to int... ernational TV channels. Mainly the UK's, BBC, ITV, and Channel 4. They were unaccessible 50% of the time, their message stating that only UK customers are allowed! Very frustrating. Also, the download speed when connected to PureVPN was extremely slow, with endless rotating circles and waits. Totally unacceptable. On requesting help from PureVPN, the assistance was inadequate. I was given a link and asked to find my way. At other times I was instructed to change protocol and other ridiculous commands that the majority of subscribers would not remotely understand! Unhelpful for the subscribers who are not IT pros!! My subscription has few months till expiry, but I have switched to another VPN supplier which has proven to be simpler to operate, faster, and so far, has been able to access my chosen channels effortlessly. I was frequently unable to watch my programs, angered and frustrated with this service and their responses to my requests for help. I do not recommend PureVPN and would suggest that for a few dollars more, potential subscribers should look elsewhere.More

Both of these VPNs have a lot to offer, but they have different strengths. They both have strong encryption, offer a range of other security features, support torrenting, have no download or bandwidth restrictions, and can access geo-restricted content. While PureVPN boasts the larger network and more customizable features, PrivateVPN takes a stricter approach to privacy and allows a greater number of connections per account. At the finish line, PrivateVPN pulls ahead thanks to a no-logs policy and higher speeds for streaming and torrenting.
