TunnelBear and Trust.Zone are two reputable VPN providers that offer great value for the money and a very secure service. For users interested in torrenting, these two VPN providers offer unlimited bandwidth and support P2P activities on their servers. Strong 256-bit encryption also comes standard with either of these VPNs. Features like tracking protection and a kill switch can also be found with both services. Neither provider offers 24/7 live chat support, but both can be expected to respond to inquiries within 24 hours.

For a top VPN, Trust.Zone offers an exceptional service in an unusual manner. It does not offer mobile apps for iOS and Android but can be integrated smoothly into those devices. TunnelBear, on the other hand, has user-friendly apps for all major platforms and devices. Although these two providers offer support for OpenVPN, TunnelBear also uses the IKEv2 and IPSec protocols, while Trust.Zone supports L2TP. So which VPN is truly better? Keep on reading to find out.

You can tell from its name that Trust.Zone markets itself as a privacy-friendly VPN. While it doesn't log your data, there have been many complaints about “Trust Zone”. This includes reports of buggy apps and an inadequate refund policy. So, I performed extensive tests on all its features to see if it’s safe, fast, and trustworthy enough to try. After all my tests, I can't say Trust.Zone i...

6 years with TZ and no real complaints

What to say about Trust Zone? Well, for $39.95 for a year compared to the next 'recommended' VPN comp... any at more than double that I can't see a good reason to leave Trust Zone, at all! Issues - It's literally only been this year that I've been experiencing problems, support has always gotten back to me within about 48hrs, not on weekends or evenings, which could be a potential problem. However, I've always been able to follow their instructions and fixed any errors that have occurred, uninstalling and reinstalling are simple and I've found that fixed any seemingly annoying problem, and it doesn't take more than 5mins to do that! Sometimes (I used UK servers mostly, based there) the server can get a little slow, or seem to stop, but I just flick over to another UK server or Germany is another fave and no more problem for 99% of the time I've ever had any issues. Benefits - For the price Trust Zone VPN is 'IMHO' truly great value for money and the privacy and security could be no better from everything that I've read, even on here. I bought Nord VPN yesterday as I was getting connectivity issues and wanted to see if it was TZ, it wasn't and now I've got to wait a week for my refund from Nord VPN, I wasn't impressed at all and it wouldn't connect properly and my speeds were truly terrible! This was on the supposed fast server for what I was using, I couldn't use my fave 'app' shall we say, and when it did connect I didn't get more than just under 2mbps and I have over 70mbps on my line and that will be going to a Gig soon, can't wait! The UK is so far behind where I lived in S.E Asia for 17yrs, that it's almost laughable, but it isn't is it! 1st world England, I think not! Lulz. I hope that TZ can sort out their server maintenance and inform the users of when it's being done, or a symbol next to the server(s) would be a nice touch to let us know that it's being worked on, etc. All in all, from the abysmal Nord VPN experience I had yesterday, all evening trying to get it to work, paying more certainly doesn't mean better in my years of computer and internet experience, and most recently been proven right yet again! Last hint and tip, never connect to the internet without a VPN. Good luck out there all. Wendy.More

    Slow downloads, unreliable

It was very cheap, but the worst thing was it was unreliable, it would simply drop the connection when...  you least expected it. Suspiciously, about 2 months before my subscription expired I got an email - a great new update coming soon. They cut off my access to their service 10 days before my subscription expired - I found that really tacky. Moving on to another service.More

TunnelBear is one of the most beginner-friendly VPNs, offering a solid free version. Despite its adorable design, it’s also renowned for its security and privacy features. But can you truly rely on this lighthearted VPN to protect you the way the best providers can? After extensive tests, I can confirm that TunnelBear is an excellent VPN with great potential. It’s straightforward to use, d...

    DANGEROUS for CANADIANS

I live in the GTA, everything was fine "until" I installed TunnelBear on one of my 7 devices, now I ca... n no longer watch any USA TV stations on line on any of my other 6 devices, this company is scum, they hid something in there that disabled all my other devices unless I buy their VPN, well, not going to buy their garbage, can't believe how much it slowed my device, I would rather wipe all my drives than give TunnelBear one cent!More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Trust.Zone operates from Seychelles, a VPN-friendly country. It offers a reliable VPN service with very fast servers and affordably priced subscription plans. TunnelBear is based in Canada and may be subject to Canadian data retention laws, but still delivers a decent service with very straightforward apps for all major platforms and numerous security features.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Although Trust.Zone does not actively advertise torrenting as one of its features, it provides reliably fast and secure P2P service with no restrictions whatsoever. TunnelBear is widely respected for offering high speed servers with support for torrenting anonymously.

    Best VPN for Windows

If you need a VPN for your PC with very strong encryption, tracking protection, and a very modern interface, you will be pleased with Trust.Zone’s dedicated Windows app. TunnelBear competes with a very user-friendly Windows client that includes an ad-blocking feature.

    Best VPN for Android

Trust.Zone does not have a dedicated Android app, but users can easily set up the service on their devices using the universal OpenVPN app. TunnelBear offers an Android app with a user-friendly interface and handy features like WiFi protection.

    Best VPN for Mac

Features like ad blocking, tracking protection, and doubleVPN functionality can be expected from TunnelBear’s dedicated MacOS app. Trust.Zone users can integrate the VPN into their MacOS devices using TunnelBlick, which is a free app. The service still prevents tracking, uses modern 256-bit encryption and offers access to 126 servers in 30 countries.

    Best VPN for iOS

TunnelBear for iOS has a neat user interface and features public hotspot protection and a free limited VPN version for new users. Trust.Zone allows iOS users to enjoy access to its fast servers and support for the OpenVPN protocol. However, since the provider does not offer a dedicated app, users will either need to manually configure it on their iOS devices or use the universal OpenVPN app, which can be downloaded from the App Store.

    Best VPN for USA

Trust.Zone offers some US servers that are capable of bypassing Netflix’s tough restrictions with ease. It also offers unrestricted speed, which allows you stream media without lagging. TunnelBear also features US servers but has not consistently unblocked Netflix USA recently. It will, however, unblock numerous other US websites with less difficult restrictions.

    The Bottom Line

In spite of the unavailability of dedicated mobile apps for the service, Trust.Zone emerges as the winner of this close contest. True to its name, Trust.Zone provides a trustworthy service, thanks to its strong encryption and no-logs policy. We also like that it’s based in the Seychelles, a country with VPN-favorable laws that is far beyond the reach of the 14 Eyes. These are a few of the key reasons why people worldwide continue rely on this provider to keep their internet activities protected.

However, if you need access to more servers in more countries, our top-ranked VPNs like NordVPN and CyberGhost offer thousands of servers worldwide.
