Imagine you’re standing on the edge of a world full of dinosaurs and deranged, dangerous daredevils. There is no way to turn back, so your only choice is to move forward. The best way? Without being seen! In effect, this is what VPN services have brought to the virtual world of encryption, offering ways of concealing your whereabouts and activities as you dodge through its bewildering landscape. Cyberghost VPN provides you with a Harry Potter-style cloak of invisibility so you can stealthily access information that someone, somewhere doesn’t want you to find. HMA VPN takes more of the secret agent approach to the wilderness of the worldwide web, disguising your location with more than a little cunning. BtGuard VPN is more simplistic – it’s like being smuggled across the border without anyone knowing where you’ve gone! Netflix compatibility continues to be rather hit and miss, with some users reporting problems with HMA VPN and others claiming that Cyberghost VPN is constantly updating to navigate the latest blocks. BtGuard VPN also has a pretty solid reputation in this regard, but is tarnished by negative rumours surrounding security and other features.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.29/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

Good service when you need it

Good for the streaming that I want to do. I don't seem to be able to save a favorite, but that is not...  a big deal. I had issues with one of my devices some months ago and the support team responded very quickly and was very helpful.More

Not functioning on my laptop & support is useless

Despite numerous back-and-forth emails with the support, they haven't managed to get it to work or eve... n install it on one of my computers. It worked ok on the machines. They never acknowledged their software was buggy, instead, they tried to convince me I have an issue with the laptop. They also refused to provide a refund. Absolutely unprofessional.More

Being on the market for more than 15 years, the UK-based HMA has established an excellent name for itself (literally). But, is HMA really worth a shot when there are so many other high quality VPNs out there? To find out, I performed extensive tests on its speeds, security, unblocking abilities, and more. I also explored its no-logs policy and money-back guarantee to see how trustworthy it is....

Excellent value for money!

First, it's a full VPN. Very intuitive and easy app. Lots of connection options and without much loss ... of speed. The official website has the payment method in my local currency, with a localized value and thus leaving a fair value through the VPN. Thank VPNMentor for the product recommendation and targeted discount.More

Used it for 5+ years - very poor connection now and no support

On a new Windows 11 machine, HMA connects and disconnects every minute or so. When it is connected pag... es take a long time to load. I'm a loyal customer and reached out for assistance 19 days ago. An auto-response comes right back promising someone will get in contact with me but no one ever does. I made 4 attempts in the past 2 plus weeks but no one appears to be working in customer service. Reading other comments my experience was not unique - there were others too that attempted to get help and then ultimately canceled. I got another VPN (Express) and although it costs a little more it works and is reliable. Unlike HMA Express seems to allow viewing of Prime movies while connected - which will work on vacation in Mexico or other countries. A recent rating of VPNs HMA doesn't make the top 5 anymore - it seems to be going kaput.More

BitTorrentGuard — aka BTGuard — is a VPN and BitTorrent proxy provider. It is specifically designed for P2P fans at a time when most tiptoe around the subject of torrenting. You can use it on as many computers as you like without worrying about bandwidth, which is great for file sharing. Another significant aspect of the VPN is that its speeds are consistent. However, it does have some drawba...

Works for me for years

Not sure why seen so much bad feedback here. Using BTGuard for more than 8 years. I ran into problems ... about 3 times. Figured out it was a software upgrade. Following their setup instructions for PCs/Linux phones works.More

Take The Money And Run!

Used BTGuard for a few years with really no issues. However, I ran into an issue about a month ago. Ha... ve opened tickets through support and sales with no luck. I even tried calling them to no avail. I even informed my CC company and they can't seem to get in touch with them. I just want to inform people to not use BTGuard and hope this review helps someone in the future. -2 stars!More

The Bottom Line

BtGuard VPN does have its benefits, one of which is its agility when it comes to negotiating blockages in certain countries, such as China. But these benefits come at a cost, whereas Cyberghost has a free service which, while not up-to-speed compared to its paid package, isn’t half bad either. HMA doesn’t really do low cost or budget – just top-end service delivery at an acceptable price. HMA makes its competitors look like the butt of a joke, with its user-friendly interface and cheeky prowess.
