VyprVPN and hide.me offer a range of appealing features. Both maintain a high level of security and have strict no-logs policies. Like many premium VPNs, these 2 also offer a broad selection of security protocols, including OpenVPN and WireGuard. Other important options include a kill switch, DNS leak protection, and split tunneling.

hide.me has decent speeds, reliable customer support, and streaming-optimized servers. It unblocks major streaming sites, such as Netflix (US & UK), BBC iPlayer, and Disney+. Its server network covers 89 countries, with an emphasis mainly on Europe and North America. Its mobile and desktop apps have a similar layout and they're very intuitive to use.

With its Swiss headquarters and an independently audited no-logs policy, VyprVPN is great for user privacy. Its server network, albeit a bit smaller (700 servers), is owned and operated exclusively by the VPN. P2P is allowed on all servers, and speeds are good enough for uninterrupted downloads. It can also access Netflix US, BBC iPlayer, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and more.

VyprVPN has been top-class for years. It’s known for its powerful security features, fast speeds, and compatibility with Mac, Android, iOS, and more. But recently, I've seen many people claim that the service has gaps in its online protection. So, I carried out in-depth tests to see if VyprVPN is safe. I began by testing its security features and deep diving into its privacy policy. I also put ...

    Chameleon is Amazing

I tried CyberGhost, Express, and Nord VPN over the last month. None of these were able to get by my in... stitution's Fortigate Firewall doing Deep Packet Inspection scanning. They are using some sort of Obfuscation technique but they were not good enough. I read about VyprVpn's Chameleon protocol. YES... It worked !!!! I do have to sacrifice speed but at least I get outside access. When I am out of that environment, I switch back to Wireguard and the speed increases 300%. The price is great, their Live chat was great when I questioned their own DNS servers. They were easy to reach with the chat and took the time to explain how their DNS servers worked. I highly recommend VyprVPN !!!More

    I don't have time to...

The company behind VyprVPN, Goldenfrog claims to have taken steps to improve its reliability, security... , and quality of service. I'm not sure when they said this, however, in 2022, reliability and QoS are going downhill quickly. I've been using Vypr for over a year with the software installed and executing on each PC. Everything worked relatively well until about three months ago when I began experiencing frequent and intermittent connectivity issues. Thinking that my 10-year-old router might be the cause, I installed a new TPLink router with all the latest technology After many hours of side-by-side testing with two computers on the same LAN, I have observed that a PC with the VPN turned off had 100% connectivity while a PC using Vypr had the issues. I have adjusted Vypr to use various protocols and TAP adaptors with no success in improving the QoS. As such, I'm convinced that my PCs and LAN are operating as they should. Further, from the beginning, I configured Vypr to always connect to a server in Canada. Every time I boot my PC I use "whatismyip.com" to make sure that the PC is operating through the Vypr. About half the time it connects to a server in the USA and yet the software says that it is connected to Canada. I use a couple of business online services with geolocation services that require a Canada connection so I also know when Vypr connects to the USA when I am blocked from logging in to one of the business services. IT's really annoying when the software says it's connected to Canada and yet it is not. The biggest annoyance is that I now find I have to check my external IP every time I boot a device. Why should I have to do this? I've used other VPNs and they just worked all the time. I never had to keep checking them to make sure they are working correctly. I've also done security testing to make sure there are no IP or DNS leaks or any other issues and it appears that Vypr lives up to its reputation of being secure. If the service would operate consistently so that I don't have to always check it or disconnect and reconnect to force a Canada server, I could give Vypr 5 stars. Overall it's not a bad service, however, if the QoS continues to degrade, I may be forced to go back to one of the other VPNs that I've used. I don't have time to "handhold" VyprVPN.More

Offering a popular free version and cheap premium plans, hide.me claims to be one of the best value VPNs in the world. But will the free version keep you safe online, and how do its paid plans stack up to other premium VPNs? To find out, I performed extensive tests on every feature that hide.me offers. I explored speeds, streaming capabilities, and safety with the free and paid versions. In ad...

    Best VPN for free

It works perfectly fine, the speeds are good, and there are a lot of different locations. I have had ... no problems with this VPN, and I like that it has a 10GB data limit monthly (more than most competitors). I tried every other free VPN, but all of them are slow and aren't as fast as this one. In my opinion, download this VPN and you will be happy.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

VyprVPN takes the lead with its proprietary Chameleon protocol, malicious site blocker, and user-friendly apps. hide.me isn't too far behind with a decent server network, split tunneling, and other features. But overall VyprVPN is the better of the two.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Both VPNs are good for torrenting, as P2P sharing is supported on all their servers. They also have a kill switch for their desktop apps and a no-logs policy. However, hide.me is better because it additionally offers a Stealth Guard feature that allows you to assign your P2P client only when the VPN is connected. This makes it a better choice for torrenting because you won't accidentally torrent without protection.

    Best VPN for Windows

VyprVPN and hide.me offer similar features on their Windows apps, including the basics such as a kill switch, and safe and fast protocols like OpenVPN and WireGuard. However, when running a virus test, VyprVPN's Windows installation file was flagged for containing malicious threats. These can be false positives but it's enough to make hide.me a better contender since its virus results were clean.

    Best VPN for Android

Both VPNs' Android apps include split tunneling, an effective kill switch, as well as the OpenVPN protocol. VyprVPN offers the Cameleon protocol too, so it is a better option for this OS.

    Best VPN for Mac

Both VPNs have intuitive macOS apps with a kill switch and an auto-connect feature. They also let you sort out the servers either by country or ping. However, VyprVPN is a better choice overall because it offers a couple of features that hide.me doesn't on its macOS app, including public WiFi protection and malicious sites blocker.

    Best VPN for iOS

VyprVPN's iOS client is easy to navigate and provides stable connections. Plus, the Chameleon protocol is also available. However, it doesn't include a kill switch. On the other hand, hide.me has a kill switch on its iOS app and overall it has more settings you can tweak. It also offers streaming-optimized servers and a Multihop feature. All this makes hide.me a better choice for iOS.

    Best VPN for USA

Both VPNs unblock major US streaming services such as Netflix US, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video. Additionally, both have strict no-logs policies and privacy-friendly jurisdictions. However, VyprVPN is slightly better for the US, as you can sort its servers by speed, making it easier to find the fastest US location for you.

    The Bottom Line

VyprVPN and hide.me are close contenders offering similar features, including the basics like a kill switch, AES 256-bit encryption, and the OpenVPN protocol. They also both come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. VyprVPN also offers public WiFi protection and malicious sites blocker whereas hide.me comes with its Stealth Guard feature and streaming-optimized servers. Additionally, VyprVPN offers its proprietary Chameleon protocol, which makes it come on top of hide.me.
