Hotspot Shield and VPNSecure are two established VPN providers with very secure apps for all major mobile and desktop platforms. VPN essentials such as 256-bit encryption, support for multiple tunneling protocols, and allowance for multiple simultaneous device connections with one account can be found with either of these providers. Both VPNs also effectively bypass geo-restrictions that many VPNs can’t get past, including those on Netflix USA. These VPNs differ, however, in their refund policies. While Hotspot Shield offers a 45-day money-back guarantee, VPNSecure only competes with a 7-day refund policy. Overaall, Hotspot Shield offers more budget-friendly subscription plans. For torrenting anonymously, only VPNSecure would be suitable, as Hotspot Shield does not allow any P2P activity on its servers. These providers also differ in server network size and coverage, with VPNSecure offering around 77 servers in 47 countries, and Hotspot Shield operating over 2,500 servers across 25+ countries. For additional features, Hotspot Shield offers malware protection and a dedicated streaming profile, whereas VPNSecure competes with built-in SmartDNS functionality. Keep on reading to see how these VPNs compare over several categories. NOTE: This comparison is for Hotspot Shield’s paid plan, Hotspot Shield Elite.

Hotspot Shield claims its proprietary Hydra protocol makes it faster than most VPNs — but is that true? I tested HSS on my fast internet connection (it allows up to 1Gbps speeds) to discover how it does with streaming, gaming, and torrenting. Mostly, I had a seamless internet experience — watching shows on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video without buffering. Its 1,800 servers in 80 countries ...

Great Interface, easy to use and smooth/zippy.

It just feels well put together. Turns on automatically, which is no bad thing (if you don't like that... , turn the damn thing off with a click). The speed is consistently above average, and on a couple of inadvertent occasions, the Kill Switch operated as it should. I especially like the GUI, which is really simple, solid, yet has a refined/slick feel - far superior to a few I've tried but won't name here. I see no issues with it, although the security issues pointed out in the article are a bit alarming. I'm using the 'Business' version. Nice VPN, IMO.More

VPNSecure looks good on paper, but does it deliver? Finding a VPN that performs well in all fields isn’t an easy task. I took it for a test run to see whether this provider can keep you as secure as its name implies.  Founded back in 2010 in Sydney, NSW, I found VPN Secure offers solid security features with a seemingly airtight no-log policy. According to its customer support, it sh...

    Great VPN

I like it. Have had it for 3 years. I bought the lifetime subscription when that was around because Sp... ectrum sent me a letter warning me about "illegal activities" when I used torrent. The speed is actually pretty good because I could play CSGO and watch Youtube without lag or buffer. Overall I'd recommend this VPN.More

    Best VPN by category

Hotspot Shield offers a very effective service that reliably cuts through tough geoblocks and includes many advanced security features. VPNSecure also has a decent service with the ability to access geoblocked content from anywhere worldwide, in spite of its smaller network.

Although it’s not actively advertised as one of the VPN’s key features on the company’s website, VPNSecure allows torrenting anonymously on its servers and does not restrict P2P activities. Meanwhile, Hotspot Shield is far from ideal for downloading torrents, as it expressly prohibits the activity on its servers.

The best feature of Hotspot Shield’s dedicated Windows app is its proprietary Catapult Hydra technology, which optimizes server speed through smart data compression. The app also features a kill switch and 256-bit encryption. VPNSecure also offers a dedicated Windows app, with access to its entire server network and multiple encryption levels, from 64-bit to 256-bit.

Hotspot Shield provides a robust Android service with a dedicated app featuring a kill switch and malware protection. VPNSecure’s Android app features a straightforward interface, wi-fi protection, and support for the SSH and HTTP protocols.

Hotspot Shield is a great choice for MacOS users, as the powerful dedicated app includes a dedicated streaming feature for bypassing restrictions on top media platforms worldwide. VPNSecure is also a reliable service provider for MacOS, competing with an app that features StealthVPN, which allows you to seamlessly bypass DPI firewalls.

Hotspot Shield’s dedicated iOS app has a very smooth user interface and features like malware protection, tracking prevention, and wi-fi security. VPNSecure’s dedicated app for iOS has a built-in SmartDNS feature and support for multiple payment methods, including Bitcoin.

By providing a dedicated streaming feature with US servers optimized for speed and efficiency, Hotspot Shield has one of the most reliable VPN services for the USA on the market. It effectively unblocks US Netflix from any location worldwide. Meanwhile, the availability of a SmartDNS feature and obfuscation technology allow VPNSecure to unblock web services like Netflix USA from anywhere as well, although its speeds are not as good as Hotspot Shield’s.

    The Bottom Line

In comparison to VPNSecure, Hotspot Shield offers a simpler service to use, more innovative features, higher network speeds, and more budget-friendly subscription prices. An impressive 45-day money-back guarantee and the availability of a free version of its service are two additional reasons why Hotspot Shield wins this contest. VPNSecure is a reliable service, but it doesn’t offer enough value for your money to compete with top-ranked providers.
