Speedify VPN Review & Test 2023 - Good Overall, But Some Drawbacks

While not really a VPN as such, Speedify does execute many of the same functions, but its name and legacy come from its unique channel bonding technology. Basically, Speedify uses all the available connections bundled up together to prove faster speeds and more reliable connections. The best way to understand channel bonding is to think of the difference between driving on a single-lane road and racing along on a five-lane highway.

Speedify offers the highway route by using lots of different channels to get to the same destination but in half the time. By splitting your online activities across several different lanes or channels, Speedify also significantly reduces the likelihood of losing all connectivity. If you're definitely after a VPN though, take a look at our #1 recommendation ExpressVPN.

Does it unblock Netflix? No. We weren't able to access Netflix on any of Speedify's servers. Don't worry, we've rounded up a list of the best five VPNs for unblocking Netflix. And, they're guaranteed to work!

As a no-log VPN service, Speedify also looks after your privacy and enables you to explore cyberspace undetected while retaining no IP addresses or data from your time online. In fact, Speedify’s privacy policy is one of the most straightforward and thorough out there and, as you don’t need to register to use the free service, you will remain completely incognito with all your personal data hidden away in virtual filing cabinets just as it should be.

This upfront approach extends into their set-up process which couldn’t be any simpler. All you have to do to try out the free plan is download the client, run the installer and off it goes. There really is nothing more to it. Speedify also added a new universal menu to the app, to make navigation easier for all its users.

It offers a free 10GB data per month option, as well as paid subscriptions in monthly, 1-year, 2-year, 3-year, family, and team plans. The monthly plan is a bit more costly, but rates are fairly cheap for the 1-3 year plans. The  family plan provides centralized management for up to five family members. Even though Speedify is compatible with Linux distributions, it's free trial only applies to Mac and Windows. Still, the 30-day money-back guarantee does allow you to test the service risk-free.

The Bottom Line

Provides a new way for speed and security

Overall, Speedify is hard not to like. Their efforts to think outside the VPN box and create a distinctive product with unique features and original technology are impressive, as is their commitment to both speed and security. They give 10GB of data for free every month; this is a definite highlight, as is their no-nonsense approach to privacy.

We still think you could get better value for money if you opted for a top vendor like IPVanish or ExpressVPN. With their best-in-class features and attractive yearly plans, it makes sense.

Netflix fans may want to check out our top picks for accessing Netflix instead, as Speedify isn't reliable for bypassing Netflix. It does unlock YouTube, Hotstar, and HBO GO, and with the addition of its new Streaming Mode feature you can watch videos or use VOIP without lag.

Does what it proclaims, Well

The frustration of losing a game to a dropped connection is slowly becoming history. I had real difficulties finishing a round in 1 game. Because wifi signals seem to "float", the signal strength fluctuates & sometimes games don't allow for time-outs to reconnect so you die. They've figured out how to keep a smoother signal strength going by using multiple signals. Exactly what I needed. The only reason it loses 1 star with me is its price. 1 device fits my needs but 2g doesn't go very far. Since I have a reliable vpn & this is the 1st I found it's likely there are others. Time will tell if I will upgrade or unload it. Maybe if there was more than just unlimited use + additional device keys it would be more tempting. Bottom line Great product but a little pricey for my needs. However, if I had 5 devices to cover it would be quite reasonable @ the annual pricing. ENJOY

Bonding tech 100% works! VPN? Not sure.

Okay so, I live in an apartment complex that has "free" wifi. a few problems: 1 I need to use a VPN to mask my data, 2:They cap each connection to around 1.3 MB/s (around 10.4 Mbps). 3. I do like to access Netflix in other regions. 1. So it hides my IP address. that's great. If you read reviews like this one: cloudwards.net/speedify-review/ it shows that it does the VPN part fine. 2. I installed Express VPN and yeah, that didn't help with problem 2. However, speedy DEFINITELY works. I connect my phone to the WiFi, then anchor it to my laptop via USB. Then connect to WiFi with a laptop, and boom I'm at 2.2 MB/s (17.6 Mbps) ranging all the way up to 26 Mbps! So the bonding technology WORKS FOR SURE. Okay so, bonding and VPN... my most important 2 features are met, so I signed up.. at least for a month. But probably longer b/c I want to support the technology. The other thing that is nice, is, even if you are at home if you just suddenly find your internet is slow, connect your phone, and boom you have way more downlinks. So there is a strong use case for it overall. 3. Streaming movies: I started up a movie on amazon prime, and it was just fine. In fact, it suddenly defaulted to the "best option" all while my steam game was still downloading. I honestly don't have the time to check Netflix (I don't even have it). But meh.

Free version is now totally crippled and useless

The free version is useless - you can't manually select server location, and the app will automatically select a local server for you (which basically means you can't use a foreign one, and no foreign internet service could be accessed).
