    Best alternative to StrongVPN

    Our Score: 9.9

For uninterrupted access to your favorite streaming platforms, like Netflix or Disney+, you can’t go wrong with ExpressVPN. It offers 3,000 servers in 105 countries and consistently fast speeds. With user-friendly apps available for the most popular OSs, it’s the best overall choice for any type of VPN user.

AirVPN and ibVPN are two very different VPN providers, each one popular for its own reasons. While AirVPN has around 220 servers in 20 countries, ibVPN provides access to about 130 servers in 47 countries. With ibVPN, you get a service that includes both a VPN and a built-in Smart DNS, while AirVPN competes by providing a very secure VPN and a Dynamic DNS. With regard to refund policies, AirVPN offers a 3-day money-back guarantee, whereas ibVPN has a more generous 15-day money-back guarantee on all new orders. If you’re expecting multiple VPN protocols like PPTP and L2TP, you’ll only find them with ibVPN; AirVPN only uses OpenVPN encryption protocols. You can also find additional protocols like SoftEther and Stealth VPN with ibVPN. These two VPN providers do share some similarities, however. AirVPN and ibVPN both have 256-bit encryption and allow use on up to five devices at once per account. Tor over VPN and protection from leaks and tracking are available with either of these providers. We’ve analyzed these two VPNs over several areas below to help you decide which is truly better for today’s internet challenges.

Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purposes, ...

Very stable, full option, the top if you look for a good privacy protection option!

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

AirVPN is a budget-friendly option that claims to provide robust protection against online threats. Plus, it says it offers high-performance servers. But can it really rival the top VPNs, or is the price so low because it’s not that good? After testing all its features, I found that AirVPN is secure, but it can't match the best VPNs. It has many great security features, solid speeds and works...

I am AirVpn cusomers since 2015, and on my gear works remarkably well

I am working in the biggest country in Asia since 2006. I constantly use AirVpn on my MacBook Pro sinc... e 2015, and on my iPhone - iPad. I never had an issue, of any kind, with it, and I was quite amazed to read the article above. Lately, it is very difficult to get it properly run on iPhone and iPad, but this is more the result of this country where I live in restrictions than the vpn in itself. While in Hong Kong was still working fine, but as soon as I crossed the border troubles started. I will tweak that as soon as I will be out again. In the rest of the world, I never had issues. So I do not give the 5th star just because of my at present troubles using it on my iPhone and iPad. For the rest, I will stick with it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

You can rely on ibVPN to provide a fast service with the combined benefits of a VPN and Smart DNS, as well as outstanding 24/7 live support. AirVPN also provides a robust service that features strong security protocols and the ability to bypass tough geoblocks worldwide.

    Best VPN for Torrents

We recommend ibVPN for torrenting anonymously, as it has dedicated, high-speed P2P servers that allow you to download torrents without a trace. AirVPN is also a decent provider when it comes to torrenting, offering port forwarding to keep your online activity anonymous.

    Best VPN for Windows

The standout features of ibVPN’s app for Windows are its ShadowSocks VPN protocol, kill switch, and protection from WebRTC leaks. AirVPN also has a dedicated Windows app and although it lacks the user-friendly appeal of ibVPN’s client, it features strong encryption and supports OpenVPN over SSL and SSH.

    Best VPN for Android

With ibVPN for Android, you get access to a built-in DNS and features like a Socks5 proxy and support for multiple VPN protocols, including SSTP and OpenVPN. AirVPN does not have a dedicated Android app, but allows manual integration via the universal OpenVPN app.

    Best VPN for Mac

Protection from third-party tracking, support for the OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP protocols, and the availability of a built-in smart DNS are some of the most attractive features of ibVPN for MacOS. Meanwhile, strong 256-bit encryption and port forwarding are the highlights of AirVPN’s dedicated MacOS app.

    Best VPN for iOS

By providing a dedicated app that features a Stealth VPN protocol and double VPN encryption technology, ibVPN offers a robust VPN for iOS devices. AirVPN does not offer a dedicated app for iOS, but supports the platform via manual configurations or the OpenVPN app, offering 256-bit encryption for iOS users.

    Best VPN for USA

With a proven ability to unblock American content like Netflix and Hulu through its use of smart DNS and obfuscation technology, ibVPN offers a very reliable service for the USA. Apart from providing dedicated US servers for bypassing most US geoblocks from any location worldwide, AirVPN also uses an innovative technology to unblock US Netflix from all of its 223 servers in 20 countries.

    The Bottom Line

By providing a pretty smooth VPN service that’s easy to use on all major platforms, ibVPN takes home the prize for this contest. A more responsive support channel, the provision of more security features, and the ease with which it bypasses tough geoblocks worldwide are some of the other key reasons why ibVPN comes out ahead. Nevertheless, AirVPN was built around some very innovative ideas in VPN design. With a few key improvements, it could climb the premium rankings in the future.
