    Best alternative to StrongVPN

    Our Score: 9.9

With a larger global server network and its proprietary Lightway protocol, ExpressVPN offers access to more streaming platforms, plus improved speeds for buffer-free streaming. It’s the better overall service, as our testing showed, and comes with wider OS support, reliable 24/7 support, and headquarters in a privacy-friendly location.

A comparison of two popular VPNs like hide.me VPN and ibVPN illustrates that both opponents are almost equally strong. For security, both providers use 256-bit encryption, which is implemented through the support of multiple security protocols, including OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, SSTP, IKEv2, and SoftEther. Furthermore, ibVPN also supports Stealth VPN and uses double VPN and Tor over VPN; these features are not available with hide.me VPN. With regard to privacy, both VPNs have advanced leak protection, and neither keeps any logs. Most of their aps come with a kill switch as well. Both VPNs are compatible with all major platforms and have dedicated clients for Windows, Android, MacOS, and iOS. The subscription price for ibVPN is lower than that of hide.me VPN, and while hide.me VPN has a free forever version available, it has limited capabilities. ibVPN offers you a 24-hour free trial and a 15-day money-back guarantee, whereas hide.me provides you with a 14-day money-back guarantee. ibPVN and hide.me also accept a wide range of payment methods, including all major credit/debit cards, PayPal, Bitcoin, and several others. Furthermore, both services provide you with the opportunity to connect up to 5 devices simultaneously. Let’s move on to our category-by-category comparison to see who really comes out on top.

Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purposes, ...

Very stable, full option, the top if you look for a good privacy protection option!

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

Offering a popular free version and cheap premium plans, hide.me claims to be one of the best value VPNs in the world. But will the free version keep you safe online, and how do its paid plans stack up to other premium VPNs? To find out, I performed extensive tests on every feature that hide.me offers. I explored speeds, streaming capabilities, and safety with the free and paid versions. In ad...

    Best VPN for free

It works perfectly fine, the speeds are good, and there are a lot of different locations. I have had ... no problems with this VPN, and I like that it has a 10GB data limit monthly (more than most competitors). I tried every other free VPN, but all of them are slow and aren't as fast as this one. In my opinion, download this VPN and you will be happy.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

For serious users, ibVPN has quite a lot to offer in the form of double VPN, Tor over VPN, lower subscription prices, reliable connections across their networks, and speed. On the other hand, if you only use a VPN occasionally, you might find that hide.me’s free version is all you need.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Hide.me VPN supports torrenting on all its servers while ibVPN only supports it on specific ones. However, ibVPN has faster connection speeds overall. Both providers have strong privacy protection to help you avoid torrenting snoopers.

    Best VPN for Windows

Windows apps for both hide.me VPN and ibVPN have numerous features; these include a kill switch, leak protection, automatic server selection, and multiple security protocols. The hide.me app also has split tunneling, which is lacking from ibVPN’s Windows app.

    Best VPN for Android

Both Android apps support OpenVPN as their main security protocol and come with auto-reconnect and public wi-fi protection features. However, only ibVPN’s client has a built-in NAT firewall for added protection against malware. Hide.me competes with auto server selection.

    Best VPN for Mac

MacOS apps for hide.me VPN and ibVPN share nearly identical features and protocols. Both have a kill switch, automatic server selection, and auto-reconnect. However, ibVPN supports OpenVPN directly in its app. With hide.me VPN, you’d have to install a third-party app in order to establish an OpenVPN connection.

    Best VPN for iOS

The OpenVPN protocol and a built-in NAT firewall aren’t included in hide.me’s app but they are included in the ibVPN iOS app. Other than that, both apps come with public wi-fi protection.

    Best VPN for USA

You can watch content on American streaming services like Netflix with ibVPN, while access to these sites is not guaranteed with hide.me. In addition, ibVPN’s US servers have higher connection speeds, making them well-suited for streaming.

    The Bottom Line

There may be quite a number of battles ahead as ibVPN and hide.me VPN continue to improve their services. Although these two VPN services are very similar in a lot of aspects, ibVPN won this battle with its bypassing capabilities, range of security protocols, and affordable pricing. However, this doesn’t undermine hide.me VPN in any way, as it is still a strong service with many happy users.

Time to decide which one is best for you
