Ivacy and hide.me offer similar features and capabilities. Both providers offer monthly plans at an affordable price, but Ivacy comes in cheaper with its yearly and 2-year plans. Both providers use military-grade encryption to secure your connection, implemented through the support of OpenVPN, among other security protocols. Advanced features like a kill switch, split tunneling, and automatic server selection are offered by both providers in most of their apps. Speaking of apps, both Ivacy and hide.me have native apps for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. However, Ivacy has a much larger and more geographically dispersed network of servers than hide.me. In order to pick out a clear winner, we’ll have to dig deeper and find the differences, category by category.

Ivacy is a long-running VPN with some of the cheapest subscriptions around. It also offers a popular free version and an extensive server network with many rare locations. But is it actually safe or trustworthy with your data? After all my tests, I’ve concluded that Ivacy is a solid option but not at the top VPN level. It offers above-average speeds and adequate security; the free version is...

Not sure where all these negative thoughts come from.

Never had a problem connecting my desktop pooters with Ivacy. Had minor problem connecting my IOS devi... ce to my dedicated European IP but that was soon sorted. I daresay most of the negativity comes from the younger generation who have no patience. Staff at Ivacy who helped this 75yr old were awesome and ever helpful. Keep at it guys! I'd give them 9.5.More

    Terrible support

I was a customer 6 years ago. They still email me frequently, despite me unsubscribing many times and ... reaching out to their customer support 8+ times. If Ivacy can't get this right then I wouldn't trust any other promise that they make.More

Offering a popular free version and cheap premium plans, hide.me claims to be one of the best value VPNs in the world. But will the free version keep you safe online, and how do its paid plans stack up to other premium VPNs? To find out, I performed extensive tests on every feature that hide.me offers. I explored speeds, streaming capabilities, and safety with the free and paid versions. In ad...

    Best VPN for free

It works perfectly fine, the speeds are good, and there are a lot of different locations. I have had ... no problems with this VPN, and I like that it has a 10GB data limit monthly (more than most competitors). I tried every other free VPN, but all of them are slow and aren't as fast as this one. In my opinion, download this VPN and you will be happy.More

Will not work with Asus routers - Hide.me Service has no Interest in compatibility with Routers. I ha... d to change the Provider from Hide.me to NordVPN and its all OK now. I had a Bad Time and now the sun shines on the VPN Sky - thanks NordVPN.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Ivacy is a better VPN overall, mostly because it has a larger network of servers than hide.me, along with slightly better connection speeds. Ivacy and hide.me both support OpenVPN among multiple other protocols, and offer streaming-optimized servers. In addition, the two VPNs come with a kill switch, split tunneling, and leak protection.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Ivacy is a better option although the battle is very close. It supports torrenting on all servers, has good connection speeds, a reliable kill switch, and an option to get port forwarding for a small surcharge. hide.me is also P2P-friendly, but has a smaller network.

    Best VPN for Windows

Both Ivacy and hide.me have a simple and user-friendly interface for their Windows apps. However, Ivacy wins, as it offers a bit faster and more consistent speeds. Both apps also include handy features such as split tunneling, a kill switch, and leak protection.

    Best VPN for Android

Both apps include multi-protocol support and a kill switch on Android, but Ivacy takes things further with its TV Login feature that lets you sign in to streaming apps on your Android TV so that you don't have to use the remote, which takes much longer for typing.

    Best VPN for Mac

Ivacy and hide.me are both good on macOS. They provide similar features and security and intuitive apps. However, Ivacy doesn't come with a kill switch for this operating system while hide.me does. That's the only thing that gives hide.me an advantage here.

    Best VPN for iOS

Both VPNs offer great iOS apps that include streaming servers and the fast IKEv2 protocol. However, hide.me wins this category just because it offers a kill switch on iOS, which Ivacy lacks.

    Best VPN for USA

Ivacy has more US servers than hide.me and slightly more consistent speeds, so it's the winner for the US. However, both VPNs do a great job of unblocking popular streaming platforms, including Netflix US, Disney+, and HBO Max.

    The Bottom Line

When you’re looking for a VPN you can trust, the details matter. As similar as these two services are, Ivacy crosses the finish line first thanks to its overall performance, connection speeds, larger network of servers, and pricing for long-term plans. Ivacy’s win doesn’t undermine the capabilities of Hide.me, which is a solid option for casual VPN users. However, if Ivacy makes some key improvements in connection stability and speed, it might well step up to the top tier of VPN providers.
