AirVPN, BolehVPN, and BlackVPN are three lesser-known names in the VPN industry. They all deserve more attention than they get, albeit for very different reasons. Unfortunately, BlackVPN is no longer offering its services. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t help you decide between AirVPN and BolehVPN as the best option for you.

What makes both AirVPN and BolehVPN stand out is that they offer very flexible plans, starting from 3 days for AirVPN and from 7 days for BolehVPN. You can connect to AirVPN on 5 devices simultaneously, while BolehVPN has a 3-device limit, which gives you good value overall. Though there are much better VPNs for similar prices that offer premium service, like ExpressVPN.

One big difference between AirVPN and BolehVPN is where they are based. AirVPN comes from Italy, which falls under the 5/9/14 Eyes Alliances, while BolehVPN is based outside this jurisdiction in Malaysia. Still, both have dedicated audiences that believe in their dedication to privacy and the enforcement of their respective no-logs policies.

Furthermore, both back their services with money-back guarantees. AirVPN offers an industry-standard 30-day money-back guarantee, compared to BolehVPN’s 14-day refund policy. Both give you enough time to test their capabilities, including kill switches, secure VPN protocols, and IP leak protection.

AirVPN is a budget-friendly option that claims to provide robust protection against online threats. Plus, it says it offers high-performance servers. But can it really rival the top VPNs, or is the price so low because it’s not that good? After testing all its features, I found that AirVPN is secure, but it can't match the best VPNs. It has many great security features, solid speeds and works...

I am AirVpn cusomers since 2015, and on my gear works remarkably well

I am working in the biggest country in Asia since 2006. I constantly use AirVpn on my MacBook Pro sinc... e 2015, and on my iPhone - iPad. I never had an issue, of any kind, with it, and I was quite amazed to read the article above. Lately, it is very difficult to get it properly run on iPhone and iPad, but this is more the result of this country where I live in restrictions than the vpn in itself. While in Hong Kong was still working fine, but as soon as I crossed the border troubles started. I will tweak that as soon as I will be out again. In the rest of the world, I never had issues. So I do not give the 5th star just because of my at present troubles using it on my iPhone and iPad. For the rest, I will stick with it.More

    14 Eyes country

Italy is a 14 Eyes country and that is enough reason to not buy AirVPN. No servers in Russia, so you c... ant bypass the Western censorship of Russian media. VPN should be about bypassing censorship, but this is not the case with AirVPN.More

BolehVPN is a product of BV Internet Services founded in 2007. It’s based in Malaysia but has jurisdiction in Seychelles. It has a small server network of only 35 servers in 12 countries, but it offers specialized servers for different uses. For example, it has streaming servers, which successfully unblocked different Netflix libraries and other platforms. It also has obfuscated cloak server...

I am very satisfied with the VPN service and I am absolutely delighted with the very personal consider... ation that Bolehvpn have extended to me in the course of my renewal. In this era of digitally driven business models such a personal touch is (sadly) almost unheard of. It is a great credit to Bolehvpn that they have somehow retained it.More

When you are looking for a VPN service, you want quality, security, and features. BlackVPN, which is based out of Kowloon, Hong Kong, is able to offer all of those things and more, making it a good choice for many out there in need of a trustworthy VPN. They’ve’ been rated as one of the most reliable and fastest VPN services, and they have 100Mbit and 1000Mbit connections, alongside premium v...

    Got scammed by them

As already said by others in recent reviews, they do not respond to your messages. They are scamming u... sers. I already paid for a year but I received no login information and the "send username" function has broken down. I paid for a full year but I ended up with really nothing. I will now try to get the money refunded by the payment provider that they use, I really regret not using my credit card with insurance for this particular purchase.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

As the superior VPN across all categories, this is a clear win for AirVPN. Both AirVPN and BolehVPN share the vast majority of privacy and security capabilities. They also offer easy-to-install and straightforward apps for the majority of devices, with the exception of iOS. However, AirVPN distinguishes itself with more advanced VPN technologies, like perfect forward secrecy and port forwarding, as well as a more extensive server network.

    Best VPN for Torrents

AirVPN is the ideal choice for torrenting with advanced features to improve your security and performance while using P2P services. The first is perfect forward secrecy, which frequently changes your security keys to make you untraceable. The second is port forwarding, which is known to boost torrenting speeds. Plus, it has more servers in more countries, which means less overcrowding and a greater chance of finding a server near you for torrenting.

    Best VPN for Windows

AirVPN’s one-click install Windows app gives you easy access to its features. As soon as you launch the VPN, you’ll see the full list of servers, making it easy to connect to the one of your choice. While BolehVPN has a slightly more modern interface, it is a bit too technical and overwhelming for casual users.

    Best VPN for Android

AirVPN wins thanks to its wide-ranging support for Android devices. Its app, Eddie, is available for mobiles, Raspberry Pis, Android TVs, and even Amazon Fire TV Stick. It’s secure, with WireGuard as well as OpenVPN with CHACHA20-POLY1305 and AES-GCM-128 or AES-GCM-256 support. Also, unlike BolehVPN, it’s available from the official Google Play Store.

    Best VPN for Mac

Neither VPN will win in terms of app design on macOS. However, AirVPN has a slightly more user-friendly and functional VPN app. Both providers’ apps are virtually exactly the same as the Windows versions, which means that AirVPN is also the slightly better option.

    Best VPN for iOS

As neither AirVPN nor BloehVPN offers their own iOS client, this round goes to AirVPN for being the better overall VPN. You can configure either using the OpenVPN Connect for iOS. While you will need to do without a kill switch or split tunneling, your connection will still be secured using 256-bit AES encryption. It’s a pretty easy process, and both offer step-by-step guides on their websites.

    Best VPN for USA

AirVPN’s larger server network gives it an advantage for users in the US. It has over 246 servers in 23 globally, including 37 locations in the US. BolehVPN has only 35 servers overall, with 4 US locations. If you’re traveling to the US, this gives you far more opportunities to watch local content from home. Or, to simply maximize your connection speed if you want to use the web securely and privately within the US.

    The Bottom Line

AirVPN easily overcomes BolehVPN and BlackVPN in a direct comparison. It provides its customers with an extensive array of features, including a kill switch and roughly double the number of servers. In an industry in which privacy is key, it's also worth noting that it accepts Bitcoin as payment. It lacks a native iOS app, but it has overall good apps for other compatible platforms.
