AirVPN and OverPlay are two very innovative VPN services known for the attractive range of features they offer and their strong security setups. Both VPNs offer a built-in DNS with their services and use 256-bit encryption across all platforms. AirVPN and OverPlay also provide a kill switch and can be relied on for downloading torrents anonymously or bypassing geoblocks seamlessly. These are also key differences between these providers, however. With AirVPN, you can expect to find around 223 servers in 20 countries, while OverPlay has 650+ servers in 50+ countries. While both VPNs have apps for MacOS and Windows, only OverPlay has dedicated apps for Android and iOS as well. In terms of encryption protocols, AirVPN uses OpenVPN via SSH, SSL, and Tor, while OverPlay supports OpenVPN, PPTP, and L2TP. If you own multiple devices, you should be aware that while AirVPN supports up to five simultaneous device connections, OverPlay allows only three per subscriber. Keep on reading to see a more detailed analysis of these two providers before deciding which is better for you.

Versatile and flexible, but poor technical support

I use several different devices, both for work and play, and with Overplay I can use my computer, my s... martphone and my tablet with the same VPN connection at the same time. Tech support, though, needs to improve, and I think a live chat support would make quite a difference.More

    Awful

Poor technical support. No refund after canceling. Unfortunately, I have to give one star. Subscribed ... for a month, then cancelled on their site after having many problems connecting. Didn’t get a refund , and after contacting them , they said none would be issued. Stay well away from Overplay. Many of my expat friends had the same problem . RipoffMore

AirVPN is a budget-friendly option that claims to provide robust protection against online threats. Plus, it says it offers high-performance servers. But can it really rival the top VPNs, or is the price so low because it’s not that good? After testing all its features, I found that AirVPN is secure, but it can't match the best VPNs. It has many great security features, solid speeds and works...

I am AirVpn cusomers since 2015, and on my gear works remarkably well

I am working in the biggest country in Asia since 2006. I constantly use AirVpn on my MacBook Pro sinc... e 2015, and on my iPhone - iPad. I never had an issue, of any kind, with it, and I was quite amazed to read the article above. Lately, it is very difficult to get it properly run on iPhone and iPad, but this is more the result of this country where I live in restrictions than the vpn in itself. While in Hong Kong was still working fine, but as soon as I crossed the border troubles started. I will tweak that as soon as I will be out again. In the rest of the world, I never had issues. So I do not give the 5th star just because of my at present troubles using it on my iPhone and iPad. For the rest, I will stick with it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

OverPlay is an innovative VPN provider that offers the combined benefits of a VPN and DNS in a very reliable service. AirVPN also has a reliably secure service that helps you remain anonymous online and eliminate internet restrictions by bypassing geoblocks.

    Best VPN for Torrents

OverPlay is a reliable provider when it comes to downloading torrents anonymously and at high speed. AirVPN also provides an effective service for downloading torrents without a trace. Features like port forwarding help keep you stay anonymous when you torrent with AirVPN.

    Best VPN for Windows

OverPlay offers a dedicated Windows app that includes a built-in DNS and features like unlimited server switching and tracking protection. AirVPN also has a dedicated Windows app that gives you access to leak protection and a built-in dynamic DNS.

    Best VPN for Android

OverPlay’s Android app includes features like a Smart DNS and access to dynamic IP addresses. Don’t expect to find an Android app from AirVPN, but you should be able to configure the VPN manually using the OpenVPN app available on Play Store.

    Best VPN for Mac

We recommend OverPlay’s MacOS app, as it offers a well-designed layout, access to 650+ servers, and support for the OpenVPN and L2TP protocols. The standout features of AirVPN’s native app for MacOS are its port forwarding, strong 256-bit encryption, kill switch, and dynamic DNS.

    Best VPN for iOS

OverPlay is the better VPN provider for iOS, offering a dedicated app that is pretty easy to use and includes military-grade encryption and support for the PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN protocols. Meanwhile, AirVPN does not offer an iOS app, but still delivers a reliable service, including access to of all the network’s 223 servers, if you manually configure the VPN via the universal OpenVPN app.

    Best VPN for USA

OverPlay is great for accessing geoblocked American content like Netflix and Hulu from anywhere in the world. The only limitation is that you must be accessing US Netflix from your web browser and not the Netflix app. The strength of AirVPN’s service for the US lies in its ability to unblock Netflix-US from any of its US servers. AirVPN also has dedicated US servers for bypassing other American geoblocked content.

    The Bottom Line

The size of OverPlay’s network and the way it seamlessly bypasses geo-restrictions are some of the key reasons why it wins this contest. Reliable, dedicated apps for all major mobile and desktop operating systems, along with the seamless way OverPlay combines a VPN and Smart DNS service, further contribute to its victory. AirVPN has many of the elements of a solid VPN, but they haven’t yet been assembled into a complete service for all users.
