Update: Both Buffered VPN and SaferVPN have merged with StrongVPN and are no longer operating independently.

    Best alternative to StrongVPN

    Our Score: 9.9

With a larger global fleet of servers and its proprietary Lightway protocol, ExpressVPN offers access to more streaming networks, plus improved speeds for buffer-free streaming. It’s the better overall service, as our testing showed, and comes with wider platform support, reliable 24/7 support, and headquarters in a privacy-friendly location.

SaferVPN is a feature-rich VPN that is not only affordable but also offers a generous 24-hour free trial. Low speeds and extensive connection logs are a pain but this is compensated for by excellent customer support, P2P, a kill switch option, and excellent DNS leak protection. For a service that only recently came into the market, Buffered offers impressively good value for money. Compared to SaferVPN’s 14-day money-back guarantee, Buffered avails a generous hassle-free 30-day money-back guarantee but unlike SaferVPN it does not accept bitcoin. Its excellent location in Hungary means Buffered has a strict no-logs policy and its server location in each continent makes it ideal for unblocking sites such as Netflix. Both VPNs handle encryption through OpenVPN, high speeds, support for a number of devices, and reliable customer support.

    Terrible service

SaferVPN has terrible service. It is an Israeli-based company but for some reason, their Israeli node ... is missing for a while now. Their answer: "The Israel servers are under maintenance at the moment. It shall be back soon, I request you to please allow us some time." One has to wonder about a company that has no failover and takes weeks if not longer to bring up a server. If they had any competence or care, they could have brought up a new server within hours and a virtual one in half an hour. Gives you an idea of how bad they are. Stay away from this company and take your money somewhere else.More

Update: Buffered VPN merged with Encrypt.me. We have thoroughly tested Encrypt.me, and you can find everything you need to know in our review. Buffered VPN has a lot to offer due to its user-friendly interface, fast connection speeds, and reliable security. One thing it can't do is unblock Netflix, you'll need a premium vendor like ExpressVPN for that. In addition to dedicated apps available for ...
