CyberGhost and ZenMate are two established VPN providers with tens of millions of users worldwide. They both unblock Netflix and offer users critical features like a kill switch and malware protection. Dedicated apps for MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android platforms are available to users of either of these VPN services as well.

There are, however, numerous differences between these VPNs. While CyberGhost maintains a 24/7 live chat support system, ZenMate only offers support via self-help materials and a contact form on its website. CyberGhost also offers a no-hassle 30-day money-back guarantee, compared to the 14-day refund policy offered by ZenMate. In addition, CyberGhost’s network of over 2,700 servers is far larger than ZenMate’s network of about 300 servers.

So, which VPN is truly better for you? Read on for a more detailed comparison across several categories that will give you all the answers you need.

CyberGhost is one of the most affordable VPNs on the market — you can get a subscription for as low as $2.03/month. I sometimes assume that price indicates quality, but with VPNs, I've been proven wrong before. So I wanted to see whether CyberGhost can really deliver at such a low price. I did a deep dive into CyberGhost’s privacy policy and security measures to determine whether it’s secu...

    Simple To Use

Great interface and is very intuitive. Many locations with reasonably fast speeds. There are a lot of ... essential features I like as well. Wireguard, Wifi Protect, Etc. I took out the 2-year plan at a fair discount so I can say that, given the price, it's a decent balance of quantity and quality.More

    Pretty good

CyberGhost does not connect automatically in pc when I connect online. Why? And on my phone (Android)...  it sometimes gets stuck, it does not open the app when vpn is working. I have to connect the VPN in my phone settings first. That is pretty annoying.More

ZenMate has been a popular VPN for 10+ years, especially with its free browser extensions. It offers low prices and many appealing features like streaming servers and fast speeds. But none of this matters if it can’t keep you safe, so I decided to find out if it really can. After my tests, I can say ZenMate is a safe VPN offering great value. It works great for streaming, has fast speeds at cl...

    Good experience

No matter your location, using a VPN is important for your online security. I got ZenMate for exactly ... that and I am satisfied with it, especially when it constantly improves its service. Customer support helped me so much and I just wanted to say that I've asked for their help a few times. And every time the support was respectful and fast in their response time. Keep it up!More

    Buggy and Unreliable

Good when it works, with a limited number of available servers. However, 1. Does not always connect ... to the fastest server. 2. On the Mac, it does not automatically connect to a server. 3. On iOS, it does connect automatically BUT does not do so consistently. 4. The Mac app has been buggy and not connecting at all, FOR MONTHS. They still have not fixed it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

CyberGhost’s 30-day money-back guarantee, support for up to seven simultaneous device connections, affordable pricing (especially on the three-year plan), and its faster network of servers makes it one of the best VPNs in the world overall. ZenMate does, however, allow up to 5 simultaneous connections per account and offers a 14-day money-back guarantee of its own.

    Best VPN for Torrents

If you need to torrent anonymously at very fast connection speeds, CyberGhost is the clear choice, as the provider offers designated P2P-compatible servers in many countries. Meanwhile, ZenMate expressly forbids torrenting or any other P2P activities on its servers.

    Best VPN for Windows

CyberGhost’s Windows app has an incredibly easy-to-use interface and a built-in network security feature. ZenMate, on the other hand, competes with a Windows app that features VoIP capabilities and AES-128 encryption.

    Best VPN for Android

If you’re looking for an Android VPN with a very intuitive design that also blocks malicious content and allows you to compress your traffic to save on mobile data costs, CyberGhost’s dedicated Android app would be perfect for you. Meanwhile, Zenmate also offers a dedicated Android app with a neat design and built-in protection from malware and tracking.

    Best VPN for Mac

By including an ad blocker, providing access to over 2,700 servers, and using very strong 256-bit encryption technology, CyberGhost has produced one of the best VPNs for MacOS available. It can be installed within minutes across many MacOS versions. ZenMate’s MacOS app only offers access to 298 servers, but it does include tracking protection, and the small network includes surprisingly many fast servers.

    Best VPN for iOS

With support for up to seven simultaneous device connections, CyberGhost is the ideal choice if your family owns multiple iOS devices that need to be protected. Its dedicated iOS app also features a sleek design that’s very easy to use, even for beginners. ZenMate also has an iOS app with malware protection, an ad blocker, and support for up to five simultaneous device connections.

    Best VPN for USA

If you’re interested in bypassing US geoblocks with ease and streaming from providers like Netflix and Hulu at lightning-fast speeds, CyberGhost is the ideal choice for you. Yet in spite of its relatively small network, ZenMate offers over 70 servers for access to US content from around the world and does unblock Netflix. Unfortunately, some of its US servers are relatively slow.

    The Bottom Line

CyberGhost offers a complete, seamless VPN service and wins this comparison by offering at least one feature ZenMate can’t match in every category. CyberGhost has a much larger network and stronger security, with 256-bit encryption across all platforms. Whether you’re a VPN novice or a technically advanced user, you’ll appreciate CyberGhost’s user-friendly interface. And if for any reason you ever feel like CyberGhost isn’t meeting your needs, 24/7 live chat support is just a click away, while a 30-day refund policy ensures that you won’t pay for it if you don’t love it.

Time to decide which one is best for you
