ExpressVPN and Unblock VPN both have great features. Both offer unlimited bandwidth, unlimited server switching, free trials, and a money-back guarantee. Both offer 256-bit encryption and a range of tunneling protocols including PPTP, OpenVPN, and L2TP/IPSec. You’ll get 24/7 access to customer service through FAQ pages, setup guides, email, and troubleshooting tips with either service. However, while both providers have a live chat support option, only ExpressVPN offers its live chat channel 24/7. ExpressVPN also has faster speeds and far more server locations – in fact, ExpressVPN operates 100 times as many servers as Unblock VPN. In addition, ExpressVPN has the longer money-back guarantee period at 30 days, compared to only three days for Unblock VPN. ExpressVPN has a wider range of security features as well, offering DNS and IPv6 leak protection and a kill switch. Finally, while both VPNs can access a range of geo-restricted websites and services, only ExpressVPN can bypass the extremely tough blocks put in place by Netflix.

ExpressVPN is one of the most popular and trusted names in the industry. It’s known for being one of the safest, fastest VPNs around, so I wanted to see if it can live up to these claims. It’s not the cheapest VPN, but it often offers discounts that make it a better value for the money. Other decent VPNs offer similar security features for much cheaper. So, do you really need to pay that muc...

I've been an ExpressVPN customer since 2017 and it's been great: quickly connects to a nearby server i... n the Wash DC region, embedded shortcuts to apps I want to use while using VPN, disconnects quickly, has the kill switch feature which is necessary these days, and has a fine mobile app which works well on my Android phones and tablets. However, I was just notified that the annual price is jumping from $99 to $117 upon the next renewal, so it's time to see how the others compare within VPN Mentor.More

    Ok, but expensive

Seems ok, but I wouldn't say it's worth $20AUD a month. That's steep if you live in a backwater like A... ustralia, where the currency is not valuable. Easy enough to set up - you don't need to be Einstein - but unless you're a tech nerd who can take a look under the bonnet, you'll just have to trust what they say about their product. It frequently drops out without the slightest warning, often when it's the only thing online at the time - despite fast and flawless fiber internet, rendering expression entirely useless UNLESS you have it sitting on your desktop where you can keep an eagle eye on it to actually see it when it drops out so you can kick it back into service again (it doesn't do it by itself), which seems to defeat its purpose, so I'm taking away 2 stars for that. Support is good and they do get back to you as fast as they can.More

Offering a 3-day money-back guarantee and a 3-day trial period to test the services before you commit to buying, Unblock VPN are all about ensuring their customers are happy with the service they provide. Unblock VPN provides unlimited bandwidth, and they are conscientious about keeping their speeds constant for streaming services like Netflix. They also provide compatibility for iOS, Android, Wi...

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

ExpressVPN comes out on top because of its speed, ability to access heavily restricted sites like US Netflix, and greater number of servers and server locations. While both VPNs offer excellent encryption and tunneling protocols, ExpressVPN pushes into the lead with its kill switch and DNS leak protection.

    Best VPN for Torrents

ExpressVPN pushes into the lead here as well. While Unblock VPN is torrent-friendly, it only allows P2P activity on its Swedish server. ExpressVPN allows P2P on all its servers. Its speed, kill switch, and leak protection make it an ideal choice for anonymous torrenting.

    Best VPN for Windows

ExpressVPN and Unblock VPN are comparable when it comes to their apps for Windows. Both have easy-to-use native apps and excellent customer support in the form of setup guides and knowledgeable customer service staff. However, Unblock VPN can’t match ExpressVPN’s speed.

    Best VPN for Android

Both services work on Android devices. However, while ExpressVPN has a native app, a little more effort is required to install Unblock VPN on an Android device, since manual configuration is necessary.

    Best VPN for Mac

Both Unblock VPN and ExpressVPN offer native apps for Mac devices. Both are easy to install and straightforward to set up and use, but ExpressVPN’s leak protection, kill switch, and other advanced features make it the more complete VPN service for Mac.

    Best VPN for iOS

Unblock VPN and ExpressVPN both work on iOS devices, but as with Android, only ExpressVPN offers a native app for the platform. Unblock VPN does offer detailed setup guides that make downloading and manually installing the software straightforward.

    Best VPN for USA

Both ExpressVPN and Unblock VPN have servers within the United States. However, ExpressVPN has the greater number of US servers and locations. And although you can use either service to unblock a range of US streaming sites including Hulu, only ExpressVPN can access US Netflix.

    The Bottom Line

While both of these VPNs have a lot to offer, ExpressVPN has greater speeds, a larger server network, better security overall, and better torrenting access. Add in ExpressVPN’s greater variety of security features, and it emerges as the clear winner. Only ExpressVPN offers a kill switch, access to all regions of Netflix, and a strict no-logs policy. Unblock VPN keeps partial logs, a concern for any privacy-minded user. Unblock VPN may be cheaper on the surface, but ExpressVPN offers the better value for your money, particularly given the great deals you can get on longer subscriptions.
