    Which VPN is better?

If you've been looking for a low-cost VPN, both HMA VPN and Lifetime Premium VPN may have come up in your search. But which service offers the best value for money? Or are they both too good to be true?

Neither VPN has the fastest speeds I've tested. HMA's server network can offer some good connections but suffers a little from unreliability. Meanwhile, Lifetime Premium VPN is — as the name suggests — a lifetime service. These kinds of services usually degrade over time, as demonstrated by Lifetime's spotty connections.

Both VPNs fail to unblock all streaming sites too, though HMA can help you access the likes of Netflix and Disney+. This is probably down to both services having relatively small networks in comparison to other VPNs.

That said, both HMA and Lifetime Premium VPN use military-grade encryption. Each service also has a no-logs policy — so it's not all bad news.

Pricewise, both VPNs are relatively low-cost, though you only pay once for Lifetime Premium VPN so it works out a lot cheaper (if you use it for the rest of your life). Both VPNs have a money-back guarantee, too, so you can test them out without too much risk — Lifetime has a 7-day guarantee and HMA has a 30-day policy.

I tested each service myself and I prefer HMA VPN overall. It's pretty good at unblocking my favorite streaming sites and gives me mostly good speeds for HD streaming.

HMA (formerly HideMyAss) is a relatively cheap VPN that claims to offer more server locations than anyone else. However, it has faced some serious controversies in the past. Is it a VPN that can keep you safe and anonymous online? To find out, I performed extensive tests on all its features and explored its updated privacy policy. I also checked out several connection issues customers have rep...

    Excellent value for money!

First, it's a full VPN. Very intuitive and easy app. Lots of connection options and without much loss ... of speed. The official website has the payment method in my local currency, with a localized value and thus leaving a fair value through the VPN. Thank VPNMentor for the product recommendation and targeted discount.More

As its name states, Lifetime Premium VPN Pro is a service you only pay for once, and then get use for a lifetime. Although this sounds economical, lifetime deals are often untrustworthy. In most cases, the services deteriorate with time. This is why all the top VPN companies have stopped providing lifetime deals. Speeds get so slow that streaming can become almost impossible, making VPN Pro a po...

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

HMA VPN is better because it offers a bit more reliability and security than Lifetime Premium VPN, along with more consistent speeds. Plus, it has none of the risks of buying a lifetime subscription.

    Best VPN for Torrents

HMA VPN is better because it has dedicated P2P-optimized servers for torrenting. It also has a verified no-logs policy, strong encryption, and leak protection for safe and private P2P sessions.

    Best VPN for Windows

HMA VPN is better because it offers native Windows apps that are fully compatible with Windows 7-11. Its apps are also equipped with useful features like a kill switch, IP refresh, and IP Shuffle (which frequently changes your IP address to protect you against monitoring and tracking).

    Best VPN for Android

HMA VPN is better because it's compatible with a range of Android devices including Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, LG, Oppo, and One Plus. Its Android apps also feature split tunneling, which lets you choose which of your apps routes through the VPN.

    Best VPN for Mac

HMA VPN is better. It supports nearly every macOS — including El Capitan, High Sierra, Mojave, Big Sur, and Catalina — and all Mac devices including Macbook, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro, and iMac.

    Best VPN for iOS

HMA VPN is better because it includes native support for all iPhones and iPads using iOS 12, 13, 14, and 15. Its iOS apps also feature IP Shuffle, maximising your online privacy.

    Best VPN for USA

HMA VPN is better for accessing US content. It has 270+ servers in the States, covering nearly 50 different locations. It can also unblock Nettlix US, Amazon Prime Video US, and Hulu.

    The Bottom Line

While both HMA VPN and Lifetime Premium VPN might tempt you in with their low prices, only HMA VPN really gives you a service worth paying for. That's why HMA is the winner after my tests. It's better at bypassing geoblocks, has a bigger network than Lifetime Premium, and its no-logs policy has been externally verified (which somewhat makes up for its UK HQ). It also comes with none of the risks of buying a lifetime subscription. Services like Lifetime Premium VPN usually get worse over time as they have no financial motivation to maintain their speeds or server networks.

That all being said, neither VPN would be my first choice if you're looking for an ultra-fast and secure service that can help you unblock all of your paid-for streaming sites. I recommend ExpressVPN. It's the fastest VPN I've tested and much more reliable than HMA. Best of all, it offers a convenient 30-day money-back guarantee, meaning that you can try it with confidence.
