Windscribe and ibVPN offer very different services as VPN providers. While ibVPN gives you the power of a SmartDNS and basic VPN service combined, Windscribe offers a VPN service loaded with innovative features. Those features include unique offerings such as Split Personality (random rotation of your user agent to prevent fingerprinting), time zone spoofing, and ad blocking. And while ibVPN only allows a single connection per account, Windscribe allows an unlimited number of simultaneous connections. On the other hand, ibVPN has a more generous refund policy, offering a 15-day money-back guarantee on all its plans. WIndscribe offers a limited free version but only a 3-day guarantee for paid plans. Similarities between these two providers can be found in their primary security features and the availability of dedicated clients. Both offer apps for major mobile and desktop platforms including MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. Windscribe and ibVPN also both use strong 256-bit encryption, tracking protection and a kill switch. Read on as we scrutinize both VPNs over several categories to determine which is better.

After its security breach, many people aren't sure if they can trust Windscribe — one of the most popular free VPNs. If it couldn't protect its servers, can you really rely on it to keep you safe, especially without a subscription? I tested every feature Windscribe has, including performing leak tests and speed checks and testing it for torrenting, gaming, and more. I also thoroughly investiga...

    Slimey Company and DARK past

The companies CEO ran ADULT WEBSITES. He is in an interview saying exactly this about his past, but ... he does not seem transparent with this today. Would you say making and running adult sites is a respectable or professional career? No. I would never trust them with my data, ever. They are slow, overpriced and unprofessional company that attacks people on reddit or discord who leave truthful feedback about this. They do not honor lifetime promises. Do not support this VPNMore

Update: Recently, ibVPN merged with StrongVPN. We did indepth testing on StrongVPN, and you can find all the details in our review. ibVPN is a relatively small VPN, with a network of 180+ servers in 50+ countries. The name stands for "invisible browsing" VPN, and true to its name, ibVPN has a strong focus on security and privacy. This provider claims to be a great VPN for many different purposes, ...

I am using ibVPN for about 5 years, and I never had an issue. It perfectly works with many protocols a... llowing me to use the VPN at home (with my DD-WRT router) and in many public places, like airports, even when some port usage is restricted --> Just switching the protocol! The 24h free trial is perfect for checking if the service fits your needs. I highly recommended it!More

Some great features but a lot of drops

I'm a customer since almost 2 years, paying 2.41$ / month. Choose them for the price, no-log policy a... nd because they support upnp/port forwarding (no NAT firewall + dynamic IP on 4 servers in the Netherlands). I always had a big problem with their server: connection drops.. If I use too much bandwidth, I loose the connection and the VPN client is not able to reconnect to the server by itself (I need to reconnect it manually). Same thing happens always with torrent clients and Socks proxy: tried with different clients but after some days or a week (if I'm lucky) their servers kick me out, and a restart of the torrent client is not enough. No!! I need to change manually the server to re-start to torrenting! No problem if we are slow, for that price I'm more than happy.. but all these disconnections are very, very boring. I will stay with them till I will not find something suitable for my needs, but there's too much work from my side to stay with them forever.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Windscribe offers a feature-rich service that emphasizes both security and bypassing very tough geoblocks worldwide. Meanwhile, ibVPN provides a reliable service that combines the benefits of a DNS and a VPN, backed up by outstanding user support.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Windscribe has dedicated P2P servers in five locations and offers many security features to enable you to download torrents anonymously. Meanwhile, ibVPN is also ideal for all your P2P needs, as it allows you to download torrents on its servers without restrictions.

    Best VPN for Windows

By including a firewall and a unique double-hop feature that allows you connect to two VPN servers simultaneously, Windscribe offers a very innovative service for Windows. With ibVPN, you can benefit from a dedicated Windows app that features strong encryption and a kill switch.

    Best VPN for Android

Windscribe offers a dedicated Android app with access to its entire network of servers and features like time zone spoofing and wi-fi protection. With ibVPN’s dedicated Android app, you get tracking protection and a 24-hour premium trial. The app is also pretty easy to install and set up.

    Best VPN for Mac

Windscribe has a robust dedicated MacOS app that features a very user-friendly interface and includes built-in ad blocking, Split Personality, and a firewall. Meanwhile, ibVPN offers a MacOS app with third-party tracking protection, strong encryption, and support for the OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP protocols.

    Best VPN for iOS

If you own multiple iOS devices and need access to innovative security features, Windscribe’s dedicated iOS app is the ideal choice. However, ibVPN’s iOS app is easy to install and use. The major drawback is that it only allows a single connection per account, and so is not ideal if you own multiple iOS devices.

    Best VPN for USA

With special Windflix servers optimized to unblock Netflix and other US-based websites and services, Windscribe offers a great service for the USA. Although torrenting is disabled on its US servers, ibVPN does offer a really effective service for bypassing US geoblocks from any part of the world.

    The Bottom Line

A larger network of over 300 servers (compared to about 150 for ibVPN), budget-friendly pricing, and a wide array of innovative features are the key reasons why Windscribe solidly wins this comparison. Although these two providers are quite similar overall, Windscribe provides more value for your money with enhanced security and support for unlimited connections with a single account. Whether you’re looking to stream Netflix, download torrents, or remain anonymous online, Windscribe offers a high-level service you’ll want to consider. Interestingly, however, comparisons against elite providers like NordVPN and ExpressVPN reveal that the winner of this battle still has a long way to go to reach the top of the VPN heap.
