Before anything else, it's immediately worth noting that VPN Unlimited and ProXPN are headquartered in five and nine eyes countries respectively. This can raise privacy concerns for VPN users, whereas IVPN's location in Gibraltar (although a British territory) provides greater protection against disclosure of user information. VPN Unlimited and ProXPN both offer cheap and cheerful subscription plans, complete with mobile apps, however concerns have been raised over the quality and speed of VPN Unlimited's customer service. Money-back guarantees are offered by each of the providers, however ProXPN are the only ones to offer this over a 30-day period, rather than the standard 7 days. They also offer a free service, but reports tend to suggest that it falls short of the paid service in terms of speed, consistency and quality. There are also ongoing changes to the Netflix accessibility with each provider, which should be checked at the time of purchase.

Established in Gibraltar in 2009, IVPN is focused on security, privacy, and standing against surveillance marketing tactics. I’d say this is a perfect VPN for enthusiastic privacy beginners — no leaks, no logs, you don't even need to submit your email address to sign up. IVPN is not great for streaming, but Peacock TV is available from the US servers. You should get a premium VPN that excel...

Very fast connections and transparent privacy policy

Have been using IVPN for a number of months now and the client interface is very simple and easy to us... e and having the built-in firewall options (that can be changed by the user) is an absolute must if you want to completely protect your internet connection from dropouts and having the firewall options are better than just a standard kill switch. Location connections are very FAST (best I have seen anywhere) and while there are not a lot of locations to choose from the current number at 20 has been sufficient in the most important countries. Their privacy policy is more transparent than any I have found and being based in Gibraltar appears to be a very good location in most respects, although not perfect. Only negatives right now would be two (2) bugs in the client where switching and/or scrolling for locations have resulted in the client window freezing up (with a spinning "beach ball" on my Mac) and have to logout in order to get out of the frozen window. The other bug is where "Diagnostics Logs" cannot be sent from the client interface due to a popup error message and the log files cannot be sent. Have already reported both issues to customer support and they are now working on a fix as there also is another reviewer (at another site) that has confirmed the same freezing client on a Windows computer. Looks like the issues have to be addressed on IVPN's end as they cannot be corrected by the user. Although IVPN does not receive nearly as many reviews as the other more popular VPN's (since this could be on account of the somewhat higher yearly cost) it offers great speed and features and have yet to find another VPN that compares as favorably. IVPN Trial is a scam

Beware of the trial period scam. Even after logging out and uninstalling the VPN client, you are unab... le to cancel the trial before your credit card is charged. We attempted to contact IVPN via several means, but they have failed to respond. Now we will have to dispute the charges through our credit card provider. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!More

For many people, finding the perfect VPN is a top priority. It’s understandable; we all are looking to surf the web securely and privately and a good VPN can help us do just that. There are hundreds of VPNs out there at a range of prices, and if having a great VPN is important to you, then you’re most likely willing to invest a bit of money into it. However, with all of the options, it’s im...

Been quite good so far.

I heard about ProXPN from Steve Gibson's "Security Now!" podcast, and purchased it on their recommenda... tion and review. For the most part I have no complaints. I have used VPN4ALL (Which was good too), but I found dollar for dollar ProXPN was better. I've used HideMyAss as well and left over some misgivings I had at the time over whether or not they would actually keep my info private from state authorities - I can't say if that is still an issue now (April 2017) as it was a while back. Bottom line, I am happy with ProXPN at the moment and have not desire/need to leave. The ONLY reason I don't give it 5 stars is that I am also a Linux user with which it is not compatible yet. 4 stars for now because of that (5 if they make it compatible with Linux)More

No longer supported, i switched to another VPN provider.

I heard about PROXPN from Security Now and was a happy user for many years (albeit the connection app ... was outdated and data throughput speeds were slower than expected). However when their root certificate expired I could no longer connect to any VPN server and this continued for many months, so I switched to another VPN provider and will never consider using PROXPN again. Their connection app doesn't integrate well with Windows 10. After disconnecting from the VPN server, I had to manually change network adaptor settings from static IP assignment (which the PROXPN app does upon connection) back to DHCP assigned IP address to prevent network connection issues later. Also, some VPN servers would drop the VPN connection often and the kill switch simply didn't work on any of my computers.More

VPN Unlimited is headquartered in New York and is the subsidiary of KeepSolid. While the fact that VPN Unlimited is US-based in New York does not thrill us (as opposed to, say, ExpressVPN, which runs out of the British Virgin Islands) VPN Unlimited provides users with a solid VPN service. With its server locations and data centers in more than 39 countries and 50 regions respectively, VPN Unli...

Terrific VPN

I have had no problem with them. I am not sure why the article states that Mac and iOS users do not ha... ve all of the protocols listed above that are available only for other platforms. I have used a number of them for over a year, and as of this writing just double-checked my available protocols and all of the above are available to me on all of my platforms. I have never had any issues with streaming, or any other data-heavy task. I have a lifetime membership with them which I purchased with a promo over a year ago, and I have been enjoying it on all of my devices. Yes, I can purchase other options like the personal IP and what not, but so far I have not needed to. I love their service and if you can get in on one of their promos (this one was offered through PC Mag) for a lifetime membership, do so!More

VPN service does not protect you

I have no idea why, but when I have torrented certain files I still received DCMA notices from my ISP....  This should absolutely not be happening. I'm certain to start the VPN, have it connect to Romania, then open my torrent program. Then I close my torrent program and more often than not just let the VPN keep running. A few days later DCMA email. VPN Unlimited doesn't do anything.More

The Bottom Line

These three providers are actually very closely matched; however, the rigidity of the IVPN system works heavily in its favour. Whilst it may not necessarily have the added bells and whistles of VPN Unlimited and ProXPN, its stoic focus on user security, privacy and doing the simple things very well sets it above the competition in this comparison. IVPN is one of the only globally recognised providers to accept cash payments, whilst their uncapped bandwidth policy, kill switch and transparent server information are huge positives.

Time to decide which one is best for you

Yes, IVPN is better overall than ProXPN and VPN Unlimited. It has 70 servers in 30 countries, fast speeds, and impressive security features.

Best of all, you can take advantage of its latest discount and get it for only $2 a month.

What should I keep in mind when choosing between IVPN, ProXPN and VPN Unlimited?
