With 650+ servers in over 50 countries for OverPlay VPN and about 20 servers in 20 countries for TunnelBear, these two VPN providers are nowhere near each other in size. OverPlay also provides a combined VPN and DNS service, whereas TunnelBear focuses solely on providing a secure VPN. They don’t even support the same protocols, with OverPlay supporting the PPTP, L2TP, and OpenVPN protocols, while TunnelBear supports OpenVPN, IKEv2 and IPSec.

Like most popular VPNs, however, these two providers share some key similarities. They both offer user-friendly apps for all major mobile and desktop operating systems and use military-grade 256-bit encryption in all of them. TunnelBear and OverPlay also provide unlimited bandwidth on all paid plans for both regular and P2P traffic, placing no restrictions on torrenting. These two providers also allow multiple simultaneous connections. Let’s break this contest down category by category to determine which VPN is better.

TunnelBear is a beginner-friendly VPN that offers a limited free version. It uses industry-standard security features and has an independently audited no-logs policy. But is that enough to compete with some of the best VPNs available today? I thoroughly tested TunnelBear to find out how fast it is and how good it is for unblocking content. I tried all its apps and security features and checked...

Versatile and flexible, but poor technical support

I use several different devices, both for work and play, and with Overplay I can use my computer, my s... martphone and my tablet with the same VPN connection at the same time. Tech support, though, needs to improve, and I think a live chat support would make quite a difference.More

Poor technical support. No refund after canceling. Unfortunately, I have to give one star. Subscribed ... for a month, then cancelled on their site after having many problems connecting. Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

TunnelBear offers exceptional value for your money with its secure, easy-to-use service and very fast network of servers. Meanwhile, OverPlay provides a reliable service via its large VPN network and offers a built-in DNS that enables it to bypass tough geoblocks from around the world.

    Best VPN for Torrents

TunnelBear supports P2P file sharing, and its fast network can be relied upon for downloading torrents speedily and anonymously. OverPlay also allows torrenting on most of servers and allows unlimited bandwidth for all traffic, including P2P.

    Best VPN for Windows

With TunnelBear’s Windows app, users can expect to find strong 256-bit encryption and effective WiFi protection among its numerous features. OverPlay, on the other hand, competes with its own Windows app that features access to over 40,000 IP addresses and built-in SmartDNS functionality.

    Best VPN for Android

TunnelBear for Android has one of the simplest designs available in the market and includes premium features like tracking protection. The most attractive features of OverPlay’s Android app are its identity theft protection and intuitive design.

    Best VPN for Mac

TunnelBear for MacOS is very robust and includes a kill switch and built-in ad blocker to keep your browsing anonymous and free of interruptions. It also defeats ISP throttling and supports the OpenVPN, IKEv2, and IPSec VPN protocols. Meanwhile, OverPlay also provides a dedicated MacOS app with offerings such as WiFi SSID blacklisting and support for the PPTP, L2TP, and OpenVPN protocols.

    Best VPN for iOS

TunnelBear’s iOS app is ideal for streaming, as it provides access to very fast servers. It also features a WiFi proxy and tracking protection. Meanwhile, OverPlay also has an iOS app that allows unlimited server switching and features the IKEv2 protocol over IPsec, with AES 128-bit and 256-bit encryption options.

    Best VPN for USA

TunnelBear is great for getting around US geoblocks from anywhere in the world including China, but it has recently struggled to reliably unblock US Netflix. Meanwhile, OverPlay has US servers dedicated to unblocking American content from anywhere in the world. However, it can only unblock Netflix from browsers and therefore may not consistently unblock it from mobile devices.

    The Bottom Line

When it comes to speed, security, and pricing, TunnelBear certainly outperforms OverPlay and wins this comparison as a result. Its apps are much easier to use and it provides a free version for users with limited needs, to explore the complete service before paying for it.

Yet as good a service as TunnelBear is, top VPNs like ExpressVPN and CyberGhost offer more in terms of speed, special pricing offers, and security features, and can consistently access US Netflix without problems.
