    Which VPN is better?

"TorGuard and ZenMate are two VPNs that at first seem rather similar – but a closer look reveals some important differences.

TorGuard offers over 2,000 more servers in 20 more countries than ZenMate, offers essential security features like a kill switch, and is the better choice for privacy and unblocking. It works well against deep packet inspection, and can access Netflix reliably with the optional dedicated IP address, while ZenMate struggles heavily to unblock Netflix and other closely guarded content.

ZenMate has transitioned from a proxy to a VPN service, but still has a long way to go. The biggest issue here is the extensive storage of connection logs, all while ZenMate is advertised as a no-log VPN. Even ignoring this glaring issue, there isn’t much to make ZenMate appealing – a limited server network, poor speeds, and a lack of any advanced security don’t speak well of this VPN.

ZenMate’s only advantage is its 14-day money-back guarantee, a whole week more than TorGuard. ZenMate also offers a 7-day free trial.

TorGuard is an expensive service that focuses on keeping you safe while torrenting. However, it makes you jump through a lot of hoops to access its free trial, and the same is true for its refund policy. This really made me wonder whether this high-cost VPN is worth it. Overall, TorGuard is an okay VPN, but better alternatives are available. It offers excellent speeds and robust security featu...

    Love Torguard

I have used several VPNs over the years and got blocked by Netflix or Amazon, etc. I went with Torgua... rd and I did have to get a personal IP address at an additional cost. But anytime there is any issue, they are right there and helping. They may have to change your IP address, but they do what they promise. I switched to their annual plan and I don’t see anyone with a much better price than what I am paying. I also have a free email address that I don’t use much, but a few people have it, so I keep it and use it. I consider trying someone else once in a while but am afraid if I do that, if I’m not happy and come back to them, the price will be higher. I honestly, don’t see why they aren’t more highly recommended. Also, I find them very patient, as I am not so young and not always great with current technology. They have been great with me.More

    Does not work with firestick

Their VPN does not work with 1st gen firesticks. They did not post this on their site. I paid $60 for ... a 1-year membership. After 7 days got a notice from Spectrum 18 complaints "Notice of Copyright Infringement" emails from the spectrum. Contact billing for refund, they gave me the runaround and kept asking the same questions over and over again. Then told me a refund is not available after 7 days. However, it takes spectrum over 7 days to send a complaint and they never said it didn't work with 1st gen firestick. Also, the app connected to vpn through the firestick and never said it had an issue. So this company is scamming, do not use it if you want to get a "Notice of Copyright Infringement" letter from Spectrum and no refund.More

ZenMate has been a popular VPN for 10+ years, especially with its free browser extensions. It offers low prices and many appealing features like streaming servers and fast speeds. But none of this matters if it can’t keep you safe, so I decided to find out if it really can. After my tests, I can say ZenMate is a safe VPN offering great value. It works great for streaming, has fast speeds at cl...

    Good experience

No matter your location, using a VPN is important for your online security. I got ZenMate for exactly ... that and I am satisfied with it, especially when it constantly improves its service. Customer support helped me so much and I just wanted to say that I've asked for their help a few times. And every time the support was respectful and fast in their response time. Keep it up!More

    Buggy and Unreliable

Good when it works, with a limited number of available servers. However, 1. Does not always connect ... to the fastest server. 2. On the Mac, it does not automatically connect to a server. 3. On iOS, it does connect automatically BUT does not do so consistently. 4. The Mac app has been buggy and not connecting at all, FOR MONTHS. They still have not fixed it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

TorGuard covers all aspects of a premium VPN service – it gets the job done whether you’re a casual user or you’re looking for a dependable VPN for China. ZenMate isn’t nearly on the same level yet and scores poorly in crucial categories.

    Best VPN for Torrents

TorGuard is very much suitable for torrents, although you’ll need to pay extra for port forwarding if you really want full P2P support. While ZenMate offers unlimited P2P traffic, its servers are too slow to guarantee smooth torrenting.

    Best VPN for Windows

TorGuard shines on Windows with support for multiple protocols (including OpenVPN), as well as 3,000+ servers and great security features. ZenMate has a neat, easy to use interface, but not much else.

    Best VPN for Android

TorGuard could’ve done a better job on mobile platforms – although it offers a stable, simple client, the kill switch is missing. ZenMate’s Android client is intuitive as well, but you may be disappointed by the sluggish speeds.

    Best VPN for Mac

TorGuard is as impressive on Mac as it is on Windows – it offers the same great functionality, which will please Apple users. ZenMate’s Mac app isn’t too different from its Windows client, either, but that means the same problems with the service exist.

    Best VPN for iOS

TorGuard performs well on iOS, and you can use it on up to five devices. ZenMate also offers five simultaneous connections, but the poor speeds take away from an otherwise decent VPN app for iOS.

    Best VPN for USA

Even though TorGuard is US-based, it’s the better (and more secure) VPN for the United States in this comparison due to its larger, faster server network. Note, however, that accessing US Netflix requires paying extra for a dedicated IP. ZenMate struggles with providing server variety and reliable speeds, so unblocking and streaming content is a major challenge for this VPN.

    The Bottom Line

This comparison is a little one-sided, and for good reason – ZenMate has a lot of work ahead of it if it wants to reach the caliber of TorGuard. The contradictions between its landing page claims and actual privacy policy are definitely alarming, but even if you look away from this serious flaw, you won’t find too many advantages to this VPN. ZenMate is a little cheaper, but not enough so to justify picking it over TorGuard for anything other than casual use. TorGuard is bigger, faster, and better – so it’s only logical that it wins this comparison by a landslide.
