Trust.Zone is well established as an excellent VPN service provider with very fast servers and a transparent privacy policy. ZenMate also provides an innovative service with many security features and military-grade encryption. Both providers are known for their ability to get past the tough geo-restrictions on providers like Netflix and Hulu. They also both support torrenting and other file sharing, although ZenMate has had issues with P2P activities in the past. It’s worth noting that while both providers have dedicated desktop apps for Windows, only ZenMate offers mobile apps for MacOS, iOS, and Android devices. However, Trust.Zone can be easily configured manually on these devices. You can also find features like malware protection in ZenMate’s service, while Trust.Zone focuses on providing speedy servers and more budget-friendly subscriptions. We’ve analyzed both VPNs across several categories below to help you decide which provider is better for you.

You can tell from its name that Trust.Zone markets itself as a privacy-friendly VPN. While it doesn't log your data, there have been many complaints about “Trust Zone”. This includes reports of buggy apps and an inadequate refund policy. So, I performed extensive tests on all its features to see if it’s safe, fast, and trustworthy enough to try. After all my tests, I can't say Trust.Zone i...

6 years with TZ and no real complaints

What to say about Trust Zone? Well, for $39.95 for a year compared to the next 'recommended' VPN comp... any at more than double that I can't see a good reason to leave Trust Zone, at all! Issues - It's literally only been this year that I've been experiencing problems, support has always gotten back to me within about 48hrs, not on weekends or evenings, which could be a potential problem. However, I've always been able to follow their instructions and fixed any errors that have occurred, uninstalling and reinstalling are simple and I've found that fixed any seemingly annoying problem, and it doesn't take more than 5mins to do that! Sometimes (I used UK servers mostly, based there) the server can get a little slow, or seem to stop, but I just flick over to another UK server or Germany is another fave and no more problem for 99% of the time I've ever had any issues. Benefits - For the price Trust Zone VPN is 'IMHO' truly great value for money and the privacy and security could be no better from everything that I've read, even on here. I bought Nord VPN yesterday as I was getting connectivity issues and wanted to see if it was TZ, it wasn't and now I've got to wait a week for my refund from Nord VPN, I wasn't impressed at all and it wouldn't connect properly and my speeds were truly terrible! This was on the supposed fast server for what I was using, I couldn't use my fave 'app' shall we say, and when it did connect I didn't get more than just under 2mbps and I have over 70mbps on my line and that will be going to a Gig soon, can't wait! The UK is so far behind where I lived in S.E Asia for 17yrs, that it's almost laughable, but it isn't is it! 1st world England, I think not! Lulz. I hope that TZ can sort out their server maintenance and inform the users of when it's being done, or a symbol next to the server(s) would be a nice touch to let us know that it's being worked on, etc. All in all, from the abysmal Nord VPN experience I had yesterday, all evening trying to get it to work, paying more certainly doesn't mean better in my years of computer and internet experience, and most recently been proven right yet again! Last hint and tip, never connect to the internet without a VPN. Good luck out there all. Wendy.More

    Slow downloads, unreliable

It was very cheap, but the worst thing was it was unreliable, it would simply drop the connection when...  you least expected it. Suspiciously, about 2 months before my subscription expired I got an email - a great new update coming soon. They cut off my access to their service 10 days before my subscription expired - I found that really tacky. Moving on to another service.More

ZenMate has been a popular VPN for 10+ years, especially with its free browser extensions. It offers low prices and many appealing features like streaming servers and fast speeds. But none of this matters if it can’t keep you safe, so I decided to find out if it really can. After my tests, I can say ZenMate is a safe VPN offering great value. It works great for streaming, has fast speeds at cl...

    Good experience

No matter your location, using a VPN is important for your online security. I got ZenMate for exactly ... that and I am satisfied with it, especially when it constantly improves its service. Customer support helped me so much and I just wanted to say that I've asked for their help a few times. And every time the support was respectful and fast in their response time. Keep it up!More

    Buggy and Unreliable

Good when it works, with a limited number of available servers. However, 1. Does not always connect ... to the fastest server. 2. On the Mac, it does not automatically connect to a server. 3. On iOS, it does connect automatically BUT does not do so consistently. 4. The Mac app has been buggy and not connecting at all, FOR MONTHS. They still have not fixed it.More

    Best VPN by Category

    Best VPN Overall

Trust.Zone provides a really fast and secure service with budget-friendly prices, backed by a transparent privacy policy. The VPN also has a proven ability to bypass tough geoblocks. ZenMate’s prices are not as budget-friendly as Trust.Zone’s, but the VPN offers a reliable service with many useful security features and dedicated apps for all major platforms.

    Best VPN for Torrents

Trust.Zone is an excellent VPN choice for torrenting anonymously, as it supports P2P and stores no activity logs. It also offers decent speeds and unlimited bandwidth for torrenting. ZenMate also allows torrenting on its servers, but it's worth noting that the provider has prohibited P2P activities in the past, and still retains a section of its terms of service that’s not wholly favorable toward torrenting.

    Best VPN for Windows

Trust.Zone provides a dedicated WIndows app with a straightforward design as well as 256-bit encryption, tracking protection, and support for the OpenVPN and L2TP protocols. ZenMate, on the other hand, also provides a dedicated app for Windows that offers protection from DNS leaks and malware.

    Best VPN for Android

Although Trust.Zone does not offer a dedicated Android app, it can either be integrated manually or via the universal OpenVPN app, which is pretty easy to use. The best things about ZenMate’s service for Android are its provision of a dedicated app with a smooth user interface and features like wi-fi protection and support for multiple protocols, including OpenVPN and L2TP.

    Best VPN for Mac

Trust.Zone does not have a user-friendly interface for MacOS since it lacks a dedicated app, but the VPN can be easily configured manually using the built-in integration tool available on Macs. You can therefore still benefit from its strong encryption and ISP throttling prevention. With ZenMate for MacOS, you get a dedicated app packed with security features like protection from leaks, tracking, and malware.

    Best VPN for iOS

Just like its other apps, ZenMate’s iOS app features an intuitive interface that’s easy to adapt to even for VPN newbies, and includes a kill switch. Trust.Zone does not have a dedicated iOS app but still provides a reliable service that can be easily configured via the OpenVPN app or the built-in VPN tool on iOS devices.

    Best VPN for USA

Trust.Zone’s speed for streaming and reliability for unblocking Netflix and similar US websites make it an excellent VPN service for the USA. ZenMate is also a trusted provider for accessing US content from any location worldwide, and reliably unblocks Netflix.

    The Bottom Line

While ZenMate puts up a good fight with dedicated apps and attractive features, Trust.Zone wins this comparison with a strong focus on security and a transparent privacy policy. Its subscription plans are also more budget-friendly than ZenMate’s. If you need to keep your online activity, including P2P sharing, private and anonymous, Trust.Zone is certainly the safer choice at the moment. It also offers superior speeds for streaming geo-restricted content. So it’s an impressive win for Trust.Zone, but not enough to place it on the same level as elite services like NordVPN and ExpressVPN.
